The concept is intriguing, but I really don't like the lead actress. Is it really worth investing my time? Or should I just read a plot synopsis and call it a day.

The dancing to stop a school shotter clip put me off it

When the dancing is first introduced the other characters also interpret it as cringey. It's very intentional, and it makes sense in the context of the show.

It's worth a watch for sure. Plot synopsis won't do it justice. You kind of have to watch it to "get it". It's hard to even talk about this show without giving away spoilers, which is why the marketing kind of failed.

This is genuinely one of the most ambitious series I've seen in a long time, and it has delivered for 2 seasons.

Theres also a nice mini twist in season 2 which contextualizes it a bit more

>It's hard to even talk about this show without giving away spoilers
just do it I don't care about spoilers and no ones going to take your recommendation if you can't even describe the show.

I watched s2 almost only because of how retarded I thought the s1 ending was, despite somewhat enjoying the rest of s1. S2 is actual Kino, the premise of the show is really cool and the bitch writing it is actually doing a good job. Comfy Kino

It's like a modern Twin Peaks in that crazy shit happens, some of it makes no sense, some of it borderline genius / retarded, but damn if I'm not enjoying the ride.

The season 2 ending is so meta it hurts.

Season 2 was absolutely bonkers. I don't even know what I think of it but it was some crazy shit.

If you are planning to watch do yourself a favor and don't read this. Even just hearing the high level plot points will be massive spoilers. The show is basically a big puzzle which you are simultaneously trying to solve along with the characters. Nothing makes sense yet everything makes perfect sense.

A scientist trying to cure death finds people who have had near death experiences and keeps them in his basement as lab rats. On a regular basis he drowns them and tries to record their NDEs. Through these NDEs the characters are gradually given "the movements" which allow for healing the sick, raising the dead, and "jumping dimensions"

All of this is told to a group of a boys and Phyllis from the office in order to teach them the movements. But theres also some doubt that maybe this is all just some schizo story from the main actress. Then other stuff happens. Then season 2 completely turns everything on its head yet again.

That is basically the point though.

The dance is so cringy/bizarre/absurd that a school shooter on a rampage stopped to watch just to try to figure out wtf was going on.

Given the build up of the entire season one before that it starts to make a little sense, out of context it looks stupid and silly, but in context it is only partially wtf. It makes a lot more sense given the explanation in season two.

What's not to like about the lead actress?

Yes. I just recently watched Season 2.
Season 1 was kinda shit. It was interesting but I thought the end was a bit stupid.
But Season 2 is awesome. The only part I didn't like was the telepathic octopus.

I really hope they get the make the planned 5 seasons.

For those who watched it:
What do you make of the fact that in the end they ended up in the bodies of people named the same as the actors playing the characters?

This, was probably the worst 5 minutes of televisionto be aired

I think the theme of the show as a whole is in a word, "meta-stories".

The majority of the first season is framed as a multiple story telling sessions. The second season kind of splits this two ways. The boys and Phyllis are trying to finish the story that OA started, while OA, Homer, HUP and the rest are trying to figure out what story they are in, and take control of it.

The third season, judging from the finale, seems like it will be a story "about a story about a story".

Lol I haven't watched it but that sounds retarded

The ending of season 2 was def a mind fuck.

I remember watching the first episode months ago and thinking it was boring. I gave it another shot and i'm glad I did. Tbh the kids are the best part of the show. And that asshole blonde kid has really started to grow on me.

Yeah it was fucking awesome

She’s a frigid narcissist

i watched the first season for the hate watch/cringe fest. is the second season worth a look? heard it really changes the context of the first season

People will try and tell you it’s all been planned from the beginning and the creators are geniuses. I’m not convinced. It’s preposterous at just about every stage and you have to suspend so much disbelief just to stay in the game. There’s a bit where the super smart scientist guy allows a blind person to make him dinner. In a kitchen with canned tomatoes. Bit weird but we go with it only to watch him nearly die because he goes into anaphylactic shock because he’s allergic to tomatoes. Unreliable narrator be damned that was just utter drivel. From that point on I just started focusing on all the bullshit, completely unable to stop.

I watched both seasons and laughed my ass off at that point.

Reminder: Season 1 Hap did nothing wrong.

Even when the show goes too far and fails with an idea at least it's a glorious failure. There is no other series out there like it and it succeeds as much as it doesn't. I'd rather that than some boring safe carbon-copy of a show.

I told you man spoilers have no effect on me, I'm immune to them.

OK I'll check it out
