DID YOU SERVE THE SOVIET UNION user?
You're done.
B I O R O B O T S
Get the fuck out
what's the scoop on the lead diaper?
I SERVE THE SOVIET UNION
Stops your balls becoming a radiation reservoir and shriveling up to the size of peas
So your cock and balls don't turn into a twat
protects your gentleman's sausage from radiation (it doesn't)
Here is your daily infodump on what to expect during the brief next week.
In what way could I serve the Soviet Union if I was 6 years old when it collapsed?
I don't have a single image to portray the relief I'm feeling right now for being part of this Kino train. I watched the Terror the previous week and I was bummed out that I had missed on the threads when it was popular, but as much as it the first episodes were royal-navy-kino of a caliber of Master and Commander and coupled with cold as balls kino, that show had a bunch of flaws. Chernobyl is just great, and I'm seeing it on time, after it's done that'll be it for a good long time. What image conveys this feeling of relief and dread?
Poll of if boomers and zoomers post in here.
imagine the smell
Anyone else ever been around a retard who mortally wounded an animal and didn't kill it immediately afterwards? Fucking retards.
Also "egg baskets" were used by roof liquidators.

Who?
with biorobots. there were over 250k people involved with the cleanup on various levels.
It was thousands of bio robots. They did a lot. There's a Russian documentary about them on YT. It's Kino.
A lot of them did multiple runs because they knew what to expect and didn't want inexperienced guys fucking up.

Unreal how they nailed Bryukhanov
Oldie but goldie.

I understand that boiler posting had to end eventually, but I'm happy it happened.
is this guy made out of spaghetti?
The what
millennials are currently 20 - 35 years old
it makes sense to be just slightly nervous when you know you're entering the most dangerous place on the planet
is this bad?
If they actually would have taken a little time to think about it, they probably could have slapped together industrial style scaffolding to "scrape" the roofs from relative safety.
With the mechanical bits far away from the radiation.
That's basically now what they're planning with giant cranes inside the huge new containment cover.
You are SO fucking done.
>2020: Terror Season 2
just walk it off you won't feel a thing in a week's time
He was nervous and wasn't able to see well with the mask and all.
Not at all comrade, nothing a total amputation of the leg can’t fix
Yeah and you might wanna look at the poll results
The very large debris was concrete, not graphite.
the problem on the roof was the graphite, which was in fairly small chunks. Once the graphite was cleared they could use more ordinary methods to do the rest.
It's been only a week.
>12k roentgens
>exposed foot
He better have some lead lined socks.
AAHHHHHH SAVE ME CORE CHAN
it's just burnt concrete user. you'll be fine
It's about WW2 Jap camps or some shit, I literally couldn't be less interested.
oh
Yeah.
If he's very, very lucky, he'll lose most of the skin on that foot. If he's unlucky, he'll lose the foot itself.
If he's very unlucky, he's got an open wound under there and his blood has been irradiated, which will spread it to his internal organs.
If he's very, very, very unlucky, he won't die suddenly of heart failure in the next 5 years. He'll die slowly, as his organs fail, one by one.
is the question asking what you think how old people are or is it asking how old you are?
what was his fucking problem?
that shit was intense bros
does he know that?
he could probably make assumptions based on all the gear and the 90 second rule, I guess
The fake character is realing killing the vibe for me with her bitchy snide remarks. Why doesn't she just speak up on her own and get the bullet already, oh wait when she got called out by the KGB at the hospital she didn't do shit.
It's a terribly worded poll
>Gets his foot jammed in a block of spicy rock
>Trips over into a puddle of radioactive rainwater
Reminded me of this youtube.com
Agreed. She makes every scene she's in worse. Fortunately the rest of the show is so fucking kino it just powers right through her.
Did you watch the episode? He's done. ARS within 2 weeks. He stumbled on irradiated water, he touched the spicy rocks, he looked down at the reactor and so on.
Don't worry comrade we just don't want you working too hard out there
No. PPE is only effective against contamination. His shoes arent lead so it doesn't matter that they are ripped, they'll be deconing him anyway
>can barely see shit with the mask on
>wearing bulky protective gear
>debris all over the ground
>told you can only be there 90 seconds so you know it's bad
I wouldn't be surprised if most of the workers who went up there didn't accomplish much in the time they got
...
...
And you didn't have to. You should have done whatever you could, if you threw a single spicy rock that would be enough, there are thousands after you. A little by little, you shouldn't commit suicide by core-chan. It's 90 seconds in, do what you can, get out alive.
That's why they had 3828 bio-robots. And many of them also did multiple runs, voluntarily.
>12k roentgens
>lead
LMAO
i didn't like it here is my review
she could easily have been made less obnoxious as well
shit like the Vienna comment
Having her die or get vanished pretty much means nothing toward a non existent character.
But a very irritating writer self insertion style of writing, constantly one-up'ing the other characters with hindsight style perfect answers to every problem or question.
Easily the dumbest part of the show.
Voluntarily, while hiding it from their superiors. They would take the badges of those who did not want to go
this whole scene was
A: confusing on the first watch
B: felt like they were just throwing all the exposition into one scene to get it out of the way
C: felt like it was the "For Your Consideration" scene that will be submitted to Emmys
And it was ok. Glad they just did all the exposition for the next episode in one scene. reminded me of season 2 of True Detective where they all just figure out the mystery in one scene in a hotel room or whatever. Even had the same boy-boy-girl dynamic.
>there is no suspense
reee why is there no suspense in a show about one of the most wrote about events in history?
why? surely they know that even going once is a death sentence
I KNOW THEY'RE LISTENING
I DONT GIVE A FUCK
>the radiation was enough to kill the mother but the baby absorbed it
what did she mean by this?
he is dead afterall
That starts in August fyi
the workers should have had babies strapped to their clothing.
I did. The key is time.
The firemen were touching spicy rocks for hours. He followed the instructions (as best he could, the clumsy fool) and only exposed himself for 123 seconds.
In that level of heat 90 seconds is your lifetime exposure limit - you would need to never work with radiocative stuff again to POSSIBLY live a normal life - it's the absolute maximum science is SURE your body can safely endure. He ended up getting a lot more spice than he should have, but he only went 33 seconds above the limit. If he's lucky, VERY lucky, he'll only have health problems.
Some bio-robots attest to having gone out as many as 5 times.
It's bullshit. There's no actual proof that she has ever been pregnant. It's just what she claims.
what would the point in guessing how old we are?
OH well. Guess 2020 is full of surprises then (I won't be here. I'll be dead)
>they didn't include them getting their pepsi reward
I was pretty upset tbphwyf that we didn't get these guys get to enjoy the zesty, refreshing taste of a Pepsi cola.
>biorobots
god the soviets were hardcore
They serve the Soviet Union.
A lot of biorobots ended up with debilitating illnesses though. I saw a documentary a few years ago about some of them that have support groups that try and get money for medical treatment since the government pretty much forgot about them and they're too messed up to work.
ah-bloo-bloo
They all had personal dosimeters and knew their approximate absorbed dose. So if they were quick enough and avoided stumbling and looking into the core they could make three runs and only receive a dose equivalent for one.
As a corollary, Legasov attests earlier in the episode that even with maximum protection, 2 minutes upon 'Masha' will cut your life in half.
Our poor clumsy robot was out for 123 seconds (roughly), AND he cut his boot. He...he might live.
If he's lucky.
I didn't think it was bad till she starts doing the hurr Durr tell the truth bit other than that it was like 30 seconds of bad with an hour of kino
>all the free booze and smokes you want
>everyone DESPERATE for a distraction
I bet their nightly parties were pretty legendary.
maybe if was centered around an interesting mystery like the first season was.
Dyatlov Pass, Hinterkaifeck or Yuba County 5 would be good candidates, Shackleton's Expedition if they wanted to keep it to boat kino.
Less than 50 deaths directly from radiation are recorded. There were tens of thousands of liquidators. It wasn't a death sentence. Have a spiccccy pic
thats beyond fucked up
A mini series about Dyatlov Pass would be pure kino if done right. The movie was fucking trash.
I'd be pissed too if I had to stay up there while everybody else got to leave after 90 seconds.
The same reason any soldier volunteers for dangerous work - so the man next to him doesn't have to.
If you know what it's like up there, and you were quick your time out, and the little kid from Kiev next to you is about to cry, he's so frightened, it's not so hard to ask for his badge and do it again. After all, it didn't hurt. Just shoveling rocks. And the party men, who told you it can't be any more than 90 seconds...well, they lie all the time.
Why not spare the little kid from Kiev the trouble?

They actually used the nickname "roof cats".

Mmm... Maybe he was Yuvchenko's brother? Right? Right?
They got a cash bonus.
Do you know about the DONNER PARTY? That seems pretty Kino.
thats rough man
it was a stupid scene because irl legasov made it his mission to tell the truth, they just asspull this character to be "his conscience" when in reality he surrounded himself with experts to compile a 400 page report and make sure all the math was correct and double checked to speak before the iaea because he knew they can't be lied to since they're were the pillars of scientific and atomic energy knowledge.
this episode and the whole series is maybe the best long-form depression porn executed for motion pictures.
I wish they did a kill the qt checkup on Iodine QT but mommy getting decimated and her baby dying, on top of like 15 minutes of killing dogs, really gets the almonds activated.
No women though
he didn't see graphite because it wasn't there
idk but she had nice honkers in synecodche
Your explanation adds a dimension to the pupper scene.
>I'll take this one on my conscience so he doesn't have to.
He may have gone his entire life stumbling around being a clumsy mess.
In a way the roof is just all of what you submit as your life compressed into a much shorter amount of time.
You skip the long duration right to an earlier death.

WHERE THE FUCK IS IODINE QT?
>some faggot's memified retelling of a 20 y.o. documentary
No, they didn't disable "every warning", they hardly disabled anything. And the minimal number of "rods" wasn't 28 but 15. And that number wasn't apparent, but calculated with a period of several minutes and it took several minutes to report it to operators because calculations took place in other part of the station..
>It was stated in INSAG-1 that, at the time of the test, three components of reactor protection had been disabled at Chernobyl. The information now available suggests the following, contrary to what was expressed in INSAG-1:
>• Disabling of the ECCS was not prohibited in principle under normal procedures at Chernobyl. INSAG understands that it was a requirement of the test schedule, and, in accordance with regulations, special approval for this disabling had been obtained from the Chief Engineer. In any case, it was not necessary to disable the ECCS for such a long period of time. INSAG believes that this did not affect the accident, but it did manifest a poor level of safety culture.
>• Disabling of the trip on steam drum water level would have been allowable; however, it did not occur, INSAG considers that this would not have affected the accident, and in any case another line of protection existed.
>• Disabling of the 'two turbine' trip was allowed, and indeed was required by normal procedures at low power levels, such as the power level for the revised test. In any event, the occurrence of this trip might well have caused the destruction of the reactor at the time of turbine trip rather than shortly afterwards.

Did Dyatlov finally admit the explosion? After being shown the photographs.
It's a common occurence in war. Soldiers who have been exposed to horrific sights and scenes will often deliberately place themselves at greater risk to protect the newer, less experienced soldiers. One of the reasons many of them give for this is so 'the shit' doesn't do to the new kid what it did to them.
They see innocence, and feel a need to protect it. On Masha, it's not innocence, but life itself. You are burning yourself away, so that someone else can live.
No he didn't.

ARS, less than two months, almost certainly. There are testimonies from firefighters who were present that night and by some miracle have lived long lives even so, but Misha picked up graphite hot enough that the skin of his hand fell apart within a few minutes. Without any protective gear, he probably took in several thousand roentgen.
A curious note - most of the testimonies I've read are from the fire truck drivers. Perhaps Soviet firefighting doctrine dictated things in such a way that the drivers never left their cabs? That would prevent the dust from accumulating on them...would protect them from the worst of it.

spicy
The absolute madman's staunch refusal to see reality is an inspiration to us all, I bet he recovered from ARS because he genuinely believed he only received a 3.6 Roentgen dose.
This guy gets it
Almost 4000 biorobots. You can't hide that many ARS deaths. The best researchers can do is attribute a few increased percentage points to their cancer rates. Not guaranteed cancer in 5 years like the show tries to make you believe. Point is if the radiation doesn't nuke your shit to death you'll probably be fine. In fact, now that you fear future cancer you will probably be actively looking for it and have higher surival rates for catching it early.
Not with that attitude.
Probably decontaminated them and gave them to the next lot
What justice will be done?
Where I live there is fuck all sun, so they've had to build a megadam which has ruined half the environment. Then they also fielded wind generators which sucked in so many birds.
Solar panels are cheaper to make. They also have a failure rate and will need to be replaced within 15 years of purchase. It's probably the perfect power solution for the modern day, where your iphone bricks after 5 years.
Yeah I tend to agree. Episode 4 was masterfully executed. It just kind of meanders and lets you really understand the impossible tasks these poor sons of bitches were given.
I can't imagine being like a 16 year old kid given a Mosin and told "yeah go shoot every animal in the Zone." Holy fuck.

This show is 100% american propaganda. Firstly, only about 50 people died during the entire ordeal. Secondly, it keeps telling us how bad the soviets were over and over like it's an anime. No, the soviets were not bad they did their best. Most importantly the "catastrophe" was not a global event, people were only evacuated as a precaution.
I can't believe people are actually paying attention to a fiction because it's on HBO. Mays as well just watch GoT agains, idiot

Reminder that Johan Renck is actually significant. The script of this show is KIND OF hokey. It's KIND OF obvious. And they KIND OF make things shitty with the naggy lady representing all the science bitches. But This Nigga knows how to make a story compelling. He knows how to use the tools of filmmaking to fuck with people and I'm excited for everything he does in the future.

Second episode. The woman physicist needs to find something out. She speaks to a woman secretary in code "our friends in Ukraine" to talk about the reactor.

No.
Nothing made even today can withstand that level of radiation. There are electronics that can take it but nothing would be light enough to go out onto the roof.
>he's never interacted with women
Ulyana's character in episode four was completely ruining the show. Her TELL DA TRUTH bullshit became so persistent, it's hard to watch. Especially her line not letting Scherbina finish YES YES I KNOW WHAT'S IN VIENNA I'M SO SMART was so out-of-place I facepalmed.
Good thihg the rest of the show is so kino it can roll just through her without hassle.

we generally see them at the end of the day. hasn't really been any scenes that take place in the morning or early afternoon tbphwyf.
So /RBMK/, Do you think he killed the mother first then the puppies, or the puppies before their mom
It is actually but mostly for short lived species as they are less effected by the radiation, for long lived species (like humans) it is still too dangerous to return permanently.
Same man even though I personally like dogs. I'd not have a big issue with killing radioactive dogs. In the end it has to be done to save other dogs.

>Plus we kill a ton of animals every day and no one gives a fuck.
killing pets, particularly dogs and cats, triggers basically anyone that's ever owned a dog or cat. I've never taken care of a cow or a pig, I just eat them. They exist to be eaten.
But dogs? They exist to be bestfriends. You automatically feel sad killing bestfriends and if you don't, you're a psychopath. They aren't jerkoff faggot humans. They literally only know how to think because of how we trained them. It's like shooting a loving kid in the face, as a job.
I'd probably kill myself by summer of 1987 tbphwyf.
Wrong as fuck. The radiation causes huge amounts of birth defects for everything. The only thing that actually thrives in partially radioactive environments are plants because their DNA strands are so long that it just speeds up their growth.

The debris was too heavy. Graphite chunks weighing as much as 60kg (~100lb) can't really be 'pushed' with a long pole like that. Even if it were possible, you'd still have to get to that elevation to do it - and that would mean being outside near the core.

What a retard
You'd get a 9/11 tv show before they dare talk about that
Honestly 9/11 would make a pretty kino short series if burgers stopped being so sensitive about it
>HAY /RBMK/

>HI
>HI
>I LOVE YOU
>KNHO

This. My uncle was a liquidator and died in 1995 from leukemia. He was only like 30 years old.

they didn't need to leave them during the initial evacuation
Actual no, its not. Short lived species are less effected by the persistent radiation around Chernobyl because they simply don't live long enough for it to completely fuck their genome although they obviously are still impacted by it. The exclusion zone has become a nature reserve in practice.
cheers la watching ep 4 now
What about radioactive soil user? Does that help the planet life?

>Graphite chunks weighing as much as 60kg (~100lb) can't really be 'pushed' with a long pole like that.
Yes they can. You just fucking push them, or lift them from a distance.
>you'd still have to get to that elevation to do it
You could do it from multiple angles
They got "all the liquid nitrogen in Russia" for this they can clearly setup a machine to push shit.
American 80s was tubular. Soviet 80s was suffering. I figure if Chernobyl wasn't the straw that broke the communist back, then what travesty was next? Probably thermonuclear war?
inside a volcano or on the bottom of the ocean
When they give us a Kino about the USS Liberty.
I was surprised to hear them talking about the Holodomor in episode 4, as certain groups of (((people))) don't want the world knowing the truth about that. So maybe we will get a USS Liberty Kino one day.
Afghanistan especially when the Mujahadeen were given Stinger missiles.
I remember reading about the Chernobyl disaster years ago, and read something about how the Soviet helicopter pilots who were pulled out of Afghanistan to help Chernobyl were relieved to be away from trouble. Except they went from the frying pan to the fire with all the radiation.
You are talking horse shit. But I do agree the Soviets did their best and went above that to contain what radiation they could.
Imagine the same thing happening in an American or European nuclear plant. I don't imagine a single Western cuck willing to die to save others.
