The more I rewatch this shit the more I find that annoys me. It not like the average person would be able to reorganize the silhouette of a P-51 if he didn't mention it by name, just have him say "Thunderbolts sir, tankbusters" and have P-47s fly over. It'd look more impressive anyway.

You see user, if you look closely during the scene, you'll notice that as he's firing, a P-51 Mustang flies overhead. This is a misdirection from director Steven Spielberg to make you believe that the aircraft has destroyed the tank, however if you view the scene carefully you'll notice that there's no way that P-51 could've hit the tank in that fashion, and they weren't truly effective against tanks anyway as they were used for air superiority. As such, it's logical to assume that Spielberg attempted to trick us into thinking the P-51 had anything to do with it, and that Tom Hanks had in fact managed to take down the tank with his superior gun firing ability.

Tom Hanks died in the opening scene, and is in purgatory. Why do think everyone acts like the movie is an accurate depiction of WW2 when it's such over the top bullshit? Because everyone knows he's dead, and it's a realistic depiction of the afterlife.

It seems like any bomb or rocket powerful enough to kill that tank would have killed him too.

I thought he shot at the remote control for the bridge and it blew up the tank and the bridge? Am I remembering this wrong?
