No. Colbert made his name as a left-wing comedian mostly mocking conservatives, that's why CBS hired him in the first place. But CBS, being network TV, also made him tone down his funnier/edgier jokes and basically play a straight left-wing guy rather than the satire of a right winger persona that made him so famous to begin with.
I don't understand why they did this. The political angle is understandable. But the Colbert Report, and Colbert's character on that show, were solidly left-wing but also funny because he was mocking over-the-top neocons. Why eliminate the comedy and leave nothing but the politics?
