I'm going to India in a few months for my friend's wedding. Can anyone recommend me some good Indian films to help me learn about the culture?
Let's not turn this thread into /pol/ and keep discussion to movies.

Go ask /trv/ if you're serious
Delhi Belly
Its okay to poo by the train tracks when you're there.
Also, since India is a gigantic country with many languages and cultures, I'll be in the state of Maharashtra for the entirety of my trip.
This , good funny movie
Don't shower for 3 months, they'll appreciate it.
Watch a YouTube video about how to shit in the streets
I don't know much about marathi films but I do know about their culture a bit. They're like Germans who are a bit ashamed of their history. You can blend in by.
>insulting an old king known as shivaji.
Prevented Mughal rule, making the state less prosperous
>Praising Hindi over marathi.
People don't respect or find Marathi useful these days.
>Saying how Bihari girls are much better than maratha girls.
>Praising the Mughals especially Aurangzeb.
Have fun user.

>shivaji
>an accurate representation of Indian culture
The first thing you need to understand about India is it's a collection of different peoples with radically different cultures. No hindu kingdom can accurately represent the federal structure that is current day India. I'm located in a different state I have heard the marathi language maybe a grand total of 10 times9I have never spoken nor will I ever learn it). the trick to studying Indian culture is coming to the realization that you can never completely understand it. Almost every state has it's own literary greats and film industries with regional directors focusing on the regional culture.I can no more relate to the marathis than a Spaniard can relate to the political struggle of Garibaldi in Italy.
Where exactly is this wedding? I may be able to help you better. As one user pointed out above Delhi Belly is a good flick but it's centered around urban Indians. Also watch Masaan.
>months
I really don't think you should do unless you life shit
Not even memeing
My friends went to India once and he told me most bathrooms are just buckets or holes with NO soap
unironically watch the india vids on the youtube channel "bald and bankrupt"
he's just that - an older boomer bald dude travelling india by himself. used to live there in his early 20's. he goes into some real shithole parts by himself but he's very charismatic and uses the indian phrases (he barely knows any, only the key ones) well enough to have locals like him.

One time at a party cohosted by a Jew and his designated gf we played some dumb phone based charades
