what about s5
I reckon Sopranos is the bette series but not by much. They're both masterpieces.
Why hasn't there been anything half as good since they ended?
Season 2 is trash. Only Yea Forums incels like it. Additionally the whole show is boring as fuck to watch. A literal chore. Television should be entertaining too you know. That's why The Sopranos will always be the superior show.
>>Find a flaw in season 1-4 of The Wire
Season 2. If you disagree, you're a reddit contrarian. Protip: If you're posting from a phone, you simply shouldn't be posting, outsider.
Samefag
>opposing opinions
>within a minute of each other
You're simply not any good at this, outsider.
No Im a phone poster and the other guy complains about them even tho phones make up 80% of the traffic on the internet.
>muh secret club
just fuck off back to /pol/, zoomer
s5 could have been GOAT if they actually developed the newspaper storyline anywhere, it's a gorgeous season that's left rudderless thanks to reduced seasons and Simon's prejudices getting in the way
>being most of the traffic is good!
>being the majority is good!
>justin beiber makes good music because it's popular!
No one in your family deserves to live, iPhaggot.

lmao grow up

Try using one of the online dictionaries the white man gave you, dropout.
SEETHING
>ywn watch season 2 for the first time ever again
Baltimore cops with New York accents
Multiple UK actors using weird, distracting Nowhere, USA accents
Baltimore drug dealers and gang bangers all sound like overcompensating suburban black kids, there’s nothing inner-city about how any of them talk
>i'm a pedant who talks to blacks irl
>am i smart now, mommy?
Jesus fucking christ you are cringe. Im literally at work right now shitposting from a phone the corporation pays for and I get paid to tell you to have sex. Loser lmao.
>pretending your job gave it to you

Of course you're a frogposter, low IQ election tourist.

>if they actually developed the newspaper storyline
What did you feel it was missing?
>how does second hand knowledge work?
Of course you're a retard, you're posting from a phone after all. If you got here after 2010 (you did) you shouldn't be posting in the first place, zoomer.
Nothing about his post was true. He tries that excuse every time someone points out he bought a phone literally made for faggots and retards.
>everyone is american
Pathetic
Actual characters and an actual point to any of it. The most we got was Simon seething about office politics but overall it felt largely unconnected with everything else
I have an android too hehe. I also own a PC and laptop. What now bro xd. Keep seething.
>pretending third worlders (all non-americans) belong here
Keep digging.
>56%
>not being american
LOL
>it felt largely unconnected with everything else
Huh? It's literally the only reason McNutty's plan worked at all.
Season 2 is great. Only dumb normalfags don't like it because muh wypipo. It's ironic how they also let race effect their ability to enjoy things.
>posted by someone with brown eyes and brown hair
Unconnected with the broader themes of the show, not the narrative of that particular season. It's all still good, just not great like the other 4 and there were so many missed opportunities, the meta commentary writes itself, but no instead we have to sit and listen to random shit that Simon is personally peeved about in a season otherwise concerned about thematic closure, yawn.
What can I tell you? I’m from the area and while I thought the show was entertaining it also seemed pretty silly at times taken as a supposedly realistic depiction of it. The only person who sounded right was the dickhead police captain, I was surprised when I found out that wasn’t his real accent.
Also I saw Episode I in the movie theater where the cop and drug dealer run into each other.
McNulty's shitty American accent that ruins immersion every time he speaks
I wish that snitching dyke cunt Kima died.
Thank you. I’m glad I’m not the only one.
>Unconnected with the broader themes of the show
But that's wrong, too. It's demonstrating the way in which the news is exactly as concerned with the stat games as every other power structure within the city. The paper is obsessed with what looks good, not with truth. The people who speak up are ignored or punished because rocking the boat is pretty much the greatest sin you can commit.
It's further echoing the exact same themes that were the focus when the show was highlighting the police department, political machine, and schools.
>gang bangers all sound like overcompensating suburban black kids
Agreed. Also the dialogue is written by a white man who thinks he knows how niggers speak. It all seems so fraudulent.
Also many other aspects seem terribly unimmersive. Like the drinking and how they act whilst drunk feels like it's directed and acted by people who've never been drunk, and also all the corruption and politics within and outside the PD feels very out of this world. And Omar feels retarded once you think about it. Also the kingpin's feel silly as some low iq nigger would be able to outsmart a complete police department and get away with dozens of murders. Surely many of them are based on real life events and characters but they're just so overly dramatised for entertainment purposes that they lack too much immersion. Sopranos handles such things far better.
Well, yeah that's what they tried to do, but there wasn't enough time to fully flesh it out.
Flesh what out? The themes aren't especially complicated and they've already been explored from the beginning of the series. The newspaper plot simply demonstrated that these problems were not limited solely to Baltimore's public institutions, but also them that were supposed to keep those institutions in check. It's not talking about anything new, it's just a further continuance of what was already being discussed.
>I was posting on Yea Forums before it was cool!
Unironically kill yourself
>retard formatting
>posting from a phone
>reddit obsession with irony
Into something more than what amounts to "wow man did you know that the press is totally concerned about ratings!!1 also here's a story about my ASSHOLE boss that i hated". I can get that level of sentiment from any hacked up friday night cable TV show my man
I was absolutely hooked on season 1-4, watched them each in a day over 4 days.
Season 5 though, I stopped like 3 episodes in and never finished. I don't know what happened, but the magic was gone for me. S2 was the best.
That's literally every season of the Wire. Just replace the press with police, politicians, and schools. Outside of your weird head canon where this is just Simons going off on random personal tangents, what exactly is the newspaper storyline doing that wasn't done in literally all the others as well.
Seriously. It was so bad at times I don't understand why they cast him. Every fucking time he opens his mouth I'm cringing waiting for his garbled accent instead of just being able to go with the flow. Note to casting directors: only hire foreign actors if their accent is literally indistinguishable from the native accent. Otherwise find someone else.
not having fleshed out characters and story arcs ;)
For real doe, why y'all start actin black soon as a Wire thread pops?
Shit catchy yo
That completely explains why he seems so out of place. I thought he was just a shit actor, but now I understand
yikes...
There are clear, understandable characters and a complete story arc. What are you having trouble with?
it was a bit thin
It has exactly as much meat on it as the school storyline, which is often cited as the peak of the show.
I'm from Idaho and I literally see nothirg wrong with McMutty's accent
no it really does not and that's why the school storyline is da bes.
>no it really does not
It literally does. Have you considered that maybe you're just slow?
>school storyline, which is often cited as the peak of the show
What? That's the most boring shit there is. Except Randy's arc is pretty cool but otherwise it's shit.
It's missing that moral seesaw. The bad guys are clearly bad and we know who to root for and why. It comes off as more preachy than the rest of the series and manages to say less. Still a damn good season, though.
4>3>1>2>5
If you say so. Again, to me it seemed like it was more interested with airing personal grievances and carried a certain bias absent from the rest of the show.
>It's missing that moral seesaw
There is no moral seesaw. The police bosses are objectively more concerned with stats than real police work. McNulty is objectively correct. What ambiguity are you seeing?
>it seemed like it was more interested with airing personal grievances and carried a certain bias
It sounds like you're arbitrarily projecting shit based on your knowledge of Simons' previous profession. As if the rest of show isn't clearly supporting a particular framework and doesn't show those it casts as problem actors in a poor light.
What about posting from a tablet while taking a shit?
His girlfriend's tits. They're almost as good as that random extras from Spartacus.
sounds like you didn't get it
Can your tablet run a full version of photoshop? Are you using an external keyboard so you can make high quality, well formatted posts? No? Then no.
>There is no moral seesaw. The police bosses are objectively more concerned with stats than real police work. McNulty is objectively correct. What ambiguity are you seeing?
Holy fuck, did you watch the show?
the pilot sucks, but otherwise OP is right
Please explain the moral ambiguity that exists within the Baltimore Police Department as depicted in the wire. I'll wait.
are you serious?
Still waiting.
What about the time dumb and dumber drove to a tower to shake it down, the other retard with them shot a kid and Daniels suggested they write a false report
Season 3 has too many concurrent plot threads compared to other seasons, so it feels kinda disjointed compared to 1,2, and 4. Also Brother Cringezone is the worst character in the whole show and its not even close.
Season 2 was necessary.
This was sociological storytelling, the most honest kind
You're used to jew tricks and psychological storytelling, the most dishonest and degenerate kind
Nah, the Mouzone hate is super overblown by people who don't realize guys like him are pretty fucking common in black metropolitan areas. Woke ass muslims are a dime a dozen, making him an assassin isn't farfetch'd.
That sounds pretty unequivocally bad, user. Did you think the show was saying that was a good thing? Did you miss that that episode ended with the revelation that the kid lost an eye to emphasize how fucked up it was? Do you not understand what ambiguity even means?
Rewatching LOST and 1-3 seasons are flawless, even Fire + Water episode makes perfect sence, and Expose is a nice little story for being a filler
Its more that they hyped him up as this ultra competent force of nature archetype but he doesn't do shit except shoot some mook in the shoulder in broad daylight then get btfo by Omar but spared because Omar has a soft spot for gay looking niggas.
Maybe if he was more akin to Said from Oz instead of a tiny faggot wearing a bowtie.
That ep in s3 where jack gets his tattoos from magic beach roastie fucking sucked dude, but otherwise i agree.
Look at this idiot
Your initial thesis is just so wrong. The moral seasaw is within the characters. The system is bad, clearly, but that guys example actually works because of Prezbo, and how he tries to make amends, initially at the desk, and then in the schools.
McNulty is somewhat right, yes, about how he needs to fuck over the system, but he fucks over his "friends" consistently in the process as well as fucking over himself and his family. He's a wreck as "good police" because the impulses that let it work end up being the worse ones in every other part of society. But we need Good Police, right? Are Bunk and Lester bad guys for begging McNulty to drink with them and return to good police work? Was Hamsterdam going too far? Were the bosses wrong for axing the project that legalized drugs right under there noses? Can the bosses really be blamed when their lives and their futures are contingent on fickle mayors that come in and out of their professional lives?
>muh brother mouzone le anime character
>HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! GUYS HE ONLY POSTED A ONE WORD RESPONSE! SEE HOW COOL AND ABOVE IT ALL HE IS! YIKES OOF WEW LAD DAMN SON!
Get fucked, get fucked, get fucked. I hope you are destroyed. I want you to be raped, I hate you so much. Fuck you, with every fiber of my being fuck you. Stop posting like fucking girls on this board. Stop responding with one word comments like "yikes" or "oof." This shit is fucking infuriating and it's been going on for way to fucking long.
>"b-but I was just talking like a girl ironically"
Oh yeah, and I dressed your dad up in a wig and fucked him up the ass "ironically." Wow so funny am I right? What irony! Stop ruining this fucking board with this fucking yikes bullshit. Nobody is better for having read a single word comment just saying yikes. That bandwidth could have gone to something better, the net negative value of your comment is such that it is actively destroying the internet one bit at a time. Maybe those pixels that would have been used to say "yikes" on your screen could go to a more worthy cause, like reddit or a facebook group!
>"yik-"
No stop right fucking there. I no you're going to comment back with "yikes," I know you just can't get enough of that retarded shit. I want you to know you're disappointing everybody right now with everything you say. Get fucked. Nobody comes here so they can see the word "yikes" unaccompanied by anything else. If that were the case, they could just get a marker and some paper and write "yikes" on their own time. Leave it by their computer maybe. Fuck you and your yikes.
>"please, st-stop being mean to me"
Then fix your life. Fix how you comment. Maybe fix what sites you go to. Stop with this yikes crap that's just fucking irritating.
Remember this: nobody wants, nobody likes, yikes yikes yikes
>SHINJI WHERE'S MY HARPERS MAGAZINE, BAKA
>unanimously the best TV series ever
even fucking game of thrones blows it the fuck out, including last 2 seasons
>Also the dialogue is written by a white man who thinks he knows how niggers speak. It all seems so fraudulent.
And you do living in your odor ridden hovel which was formerly your mother's basment
oof
yeesh
>not being 56% la creatura and dying for Israel
We are literally talking about the systems, dipshit. Those are the themes we are discussing. At no point whatsoever were we talking about characters' fucked up personal lives and whether or not they grow from them. The newspaper is shown exactly the same way as the police department. Just because the characters didn't have 4 previous seasons to develop them doesn't mean that the storyline wasn't exactly as developed as any other within a similar timeframe.
You're arbitrarily cutting out the newspaper and pretending it's a new standalone storyline with no links to anything that's come before when it's obviously continuing the exact same exploration of Baltimore's fucked up institutions that has defined the entire series.
it's not even the best cop show ever let alone the best tv show ever
>it's obviously continuing the exact same exploration of Baltimore's fucked up institutions that has defined the entire series.
yes, but without any of the depth and subtlety of what came before
>mother's basment [sic]
It's less than surprising that someone who thinks The Wire is brilliant thinks entirely in stale memes and cliches.
>"serious" crime drama
>main character has a fucking catchphrase
youtube.com
If you think the Wire was ever especially subtle, you're retarded. If you were expecting characters to have as much development in one season as another did across four, you are also retarded. Comparing the latter to the former and thinking you've any meaningful point is baffling.
You didnt offer any criticism, it was typical dime a dozen /pol/gibberish. If you want to honestly find fault with the show, characters, or what have you then do so. Otherwise, keep it back at the cesspit it belongs.
Wasn't it a running joke in The Sopranos that Tony corrects someone about the nursing home calling it a retirement community?
>anyone who uses the no-no word is from /pol/!
based leftist astroturfer
I mean, you can use it all you want but understand that makes the post lacking in any substance and is immediately discarded. Talk about the characters as characters and leave your bad opinions wherever the fuck
MALAKA, YOU BITCH
He’s right though. Drug dealers don’t act like a black employee talking to a white customer at Walmart
Overtime is always nice poorfag

MAJOR CRIMES?
SHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
the objective truth laid bare
these are the people that raged when the onions word filter was put in, because they are literally so new to Yea Forums they had never seen a word filter before and thought the mods were """censoring""" them
This. Actual street dealers are calm and collected and if they were as emotional and prone to outbursts as The Wire depicts, they wouldn't last long.
t.Detroiter
The biggest plot twist in the entire series is that Snoop was actually female all along.
>if they were as emotional and prone to outbursts as The Wire depicts
I don't remember many emotional outbursts from corner crews.
Yea Forums needs to pretend to like S2 in order to be properly contrarian
Much of Barksdale's went ape shit frequently and much of Marlowe's crew were stupid and emotional except for his right hand man.
At least you get to see the midget guido's dick.
I had to rewind to confirm this
All I see are faggots saying season 2 is bad without giving any explanation as to why they think that way
Did you watch the show? It's not a serious crime show, but not because of stupid shit like that. Omar and Brother Mouzone are comic book characters.
sopranos even more boring than the wire, every episode is the same shit
>muh wife n' kids
>fucks prostitute
>AYE TONE
>angry big nose italian guy
>prozac
>flirts with psychiatrist
I had to watch her nude scene on a different show/movie to make sure.
When?
Monk beating up a junkie
General scenes of corner kids being stupid
Marlowe's gang frequently threatening people over nothing, ect. The series is filled with instances
The show's major flaw is the centrality of McNulty. It's obvious why HBO thought they needed a generic white guy protagonist, but he doesn't really add anything to the urban decay kino.
But he becomes a side character after the first season.
My neighbor was an extra in the Wire and is currently doing time in jail for selling weapons out of his house.
Its just filtered plebs desperately trying to cope.
Sounds like he took method acting too far for just a bit role.
MY NAME IS MY NAME
He's practically not even in like two of the seasons, what are you talking about?
>season 4 aka niggers being niggers in school
yeah no thanks
>If you were expecting characters to have as much development in one season as another did across four
They managed fine with the Docks storyline.
>THINK IM GONNA BE THE FALL GUY FOR THE WHOLE DAMN MACHINE
Have you thought about writing a book of your experiences? Truly fascinating.
>sopranos even more boring than the wire
LOL !
>Monk beating up a junkie
?
>General scenes of corner kids being stupid
?
>Marlowe's gang frequently threatening people over nothing
Marlowe doesn't threaten people.
>They managed fine with the Docks storyline.
When you begin at the center of smuggling operation and regularly deal with criminal and murderers, you have greater opportunity for dramatic character shifts than when you're just some reporter trying to get noticed or an cautious newspaper editor. This shouldn't be surprising.
>you have greater opportunity for dramatic character shifts
uh, wrong.
How do you figure?
It was a time when you could show feral nigglets acting like feral nigglets and their shitty/absentee parents in a realistic way without any disingenuous ID politic coat of paint. It was back when Libs could actually point out problems in the community without it being 100% "wypipo be evil." Its frustrating to watch, but you can't say its not accurate.
Kill yourself retard
The reason why criminals can outsmart the police is simple and the show shows it perfectly:
1. Cops enlarge are actually pretty dumb. Out of the whole police force you had a couple of smart guys, the rest were morons.
2. Criminals don't abide the law and this gives them an advantage
3. The majority of cops simply don't give a fuck about catching them, it's just a pay for them.
You have a greater opportunity for car chases and gun shoots, that's true ;)
Marlowe literally has a security guard killed because he tries to stop him from stealing lollipops.
That's the point. Marlowe doesn't threaten. And that's precisely why he gets away with as much shit as he does.
Don't mind me, just posting the biggest douchebag faggot on the show.
Nulty is worse.
His last scene in the show is him threatening people off the corner tho.
>sabotages the entire plot of season 5 and lets the bad guy get away
wew lad
well accurate or not, it's just mindblowingly tedious television
especially as some forced 'contrast' to the procedural/gangsta shit. nobody tuned in for the kids, fuck em
His last scene is him returning to the streets and picking a fight with a couple people who have no idea who he even is.
>without it being 100% "wypipo be evil.
>at least half of the corrupt officials in The Wire are black
you are absolutely fucking retarded, faggot
kima did nothing wrong
>nobody tuned in for the kids
and yet it's often considered the best season, curious.
through gritted teeth, because it's a feat of endurance
>haha look at these niglets
>they all represent various adult characters throughout the show and had identical character arcs and ultimate fates
>so good xD
Literally just a show for upper middle class white people to feel "in the know"
>We wuz wires and sheeeiiit
Lmao at this show
Nigger do you even know how to read? The show is one of the only ones that places the blame on blacks for making their own community shitty. You could never ever get away with that shit in current year.
ARE YOU WEARING A THE WIRE?
>actually believing this
I'm watching the 1st season of The Wire and I just got done watching the episode where DeAngelo teaches the younger kids chess. I was blown away! I had to watch it a couple times to really pick up on it, but did you guys realize that when he was teaching them about the chess pieces, he was really referring to THEM being the pawns! What an amazing metaphor!
It was so deep and meaningful, I am amazed by the deep symbolism of this.
Do the later seasons continue on with masterful symbolism like this? This was truly the pinnacle of storytelling that I have ever seen on a television show, and I think I can confidently say The Wire is the best show ever made without even having seen the entire series.
Also the acting is amazing. Idris Elba and Dominic West do a great job with their Baltimore accents.
my bad
read it as "there was a time"
Keep watching friend. In the next season the corner boys learn to play Monopoly. :)
Based Bodie making King :)
Learn to read, stupid
Whatever race / background you are, you embarrassed them with that post
Could you people stop saying "Marlowe"? It's Marlo.
>hating on the best season of any show, ever
Yup that's Yea Forums alright
Those people weren't watching the show when it aired. it's only after the fact that they jumped on the band wagon and sung the show's praises
Thx for your correction. I redact my previous post where I called you a nigger.
Name a more manly and american character than Frank Sobotka
Protip: you can't
2 > 3 > 1 > 4 >5
AYO
WHERE WALLACE AT
Nigga told me he goin to his family in africa or some shit. Some place called Wackana.
Too many darkies
Oh, (You)
ARE BEING SHOT IN THE HOOD
I binged S1 ever last weekend and it was sick yo, but now im at e4 of s2 and it sucks, the first episodes were the most generic reunion shit ive seen almost laughable, it feels like im watching polise squad and not a serious show ffs
what a fucking drop in quality
TOO MANY DARKIES
HAVE BEEN MADE GOOD
Wrong
>Brother Mouzone with his ultra polite le gentlesir behaviour does not fit the wire
>Hamsterdam
The Sopranos has much deeper storytelling.
Is he really a protagonist after season 1? He gets as much screen time as the black lietenant, lesbo cop and even less time than D'Angelo in S1 and Nick Sobotka in S2. But I agree, his a boring character.
s2 was great. I learned alot about dock workers and armenian or whatnot criminals, and it was nice to see how mcnutty acted differently when opposite white or black offenders. Also, you forget who the main character is in The wire. It's not played by any actors, I'll tell you that.
But I am sad that everyone forgets about OZ in threads such as these, yet you all parrot "Sopranos" like the gabagools you are. Yeah, that's a great show, but OZ is on par with all of these. The holy trinity : The Wire, Sopranos and OZ.
Sopranos is more character driven show, it has emphasis on Tony during all 6 seasons. The Wire puts emphasis on connections inside of groups of people, hierarchy, and connections between different fractions.
What's OZ? I miss MadMen threads as well by the way.
oh man, you don't know what you've been missing. it's another brilliant realistic hbo show, about an experimental prison ward and the prisoners' lifes within
>The Wire puts emphasis on connections inside of groups of people, hierarchy, and connections between different fractions.
so does the sopranos
Give examples of connections of different groups other than New York mob and New Jersey mob. On the other hand no character from the Wire is as interesting as Junior, Polly, Chrissy and of course Tony. I just view these shows as not comparable. MadMen and Sopranos on the other hand...
flaws? there are many. It’s filled with blacks
As for being the best TV series ever, the title of the show you mentioned is “The Wire” not “Game of Thrones”
Which seasons should I watch?
the first and the last only
I thought the last season was bad?
alright, the first and the second to last then
his granny house
consider suicide
Oz is decent entertainment but nowhere near any actual quality show. It's a silly soap opera for young men.
>realistic
>my jewish boss who's cock I worship pays for my phone
top kek.
NAH HE AIN'T NO COUNTRY ASS NIGGA
WHERE WALLACE AT NIGGA
>OOGA BOOGA WALLACE NIGGUH SHEEIT
what did he mean by this?
does the fat black woman classify as an F tier character because she's shit or an S tier character because she's the most realistic black woman in the show?
He was already a thug beforehand but I guess he got lucky.
I could write about how I slept through 20+ SWAT operators busting the door down and confiscating everything from their shed out back. Or how he shot his best friend in our alley. Or how his brother went to jail for him the first time around.
>Season dedicated about a container full of dead Russian prostitutes and death of unions not serious
I just started season 3 and am losing interest. Maybe I was just too caught up in the dockworker union thing or am just burnt out on 2 days straight of binging but god damn if the first 2 seasons weren't peak kino.
>t. ziggy
truly based
