There's alot of articles about how Chernobyl is the highest rated show ever blablabla.
It's probably things like this get driven down by marketing divisions to push their new shows.

for a long time so maybe pissd people off with internal politics then or maybe stretched some political influence a time or two. Looking at his Wiki I don't know why he wouldn't be considered based at that time since he commisioned Civilisation and the Ascent of Man some of the most based documentaries of all time but I do seem to remember a documentary that about some comedy or other that portrayed him in a villainous light.
