it's an obvious mess that needed another edit, reports at the time were saying the first cut was like 20-30 minutes longer but the studio said no that's too long and it was hacked to pieces.

Definitely True. They got good reactions from the movie but they could tell it wasn't really that good. along with the fighting they did over specific scenes being in the movie or not.

watched the director commentary. Whedon was depressed as fuck. Said when they did the party scene he had no idea what he was doing and freaked out. There was also a part where Ultron as building a machine and he directed it to look liked a penis because uhh sexism. Basically admitted that Feige salvaged it by shutting down all of Whedon's shitty idea

It is bad no doubt but Iron Man 3 is the king when it comes to being the worst movie of the MCU, AoU and Dark World look like masterpieces next to it, at least they set characters and plot points, IM3 was just a joke compilation pretty much Shane Black's standard shit.
