Cuz it sounds like 'eu' in Russian but really short

Well frankly it's not the best show of all time.

Attached: 1557344661630.png (900x676, 410K)

Is it really that good or is it just being memed like stranger things or walking dead?

It is a very well documentated horrible event which was easy to portray on a tv-show. 80 percent of the tvshow actually happened in ukraine, and the human soul always likes to see suffering and torture.

Guys read the book Voice of Chernobyl. It's heartbreaking all throughout

It’s not great, not terrible

I've seen worse

Yeah man lets just keep burning through all that coal that we dont have. A meltdown here and there is necessary for the benefit of society. Reactors should be built in waste lands.

Memes aside. The acting is superb, the writing is solid, the atmosphere is fantastic, the drama is good, there is romance, there is horror. It’s all real and it’s done tastefully and respectful towards the survivors.

It might be the perfect tv show.

Pretty much, it's a bunch of dumb tourist going to Chernobyl and they get murdered by mutants

Literally what the fuck.

Oy wey
No niggers in Chernobyl

Quite well deserved, but on more serious note. IMDb ratings are shit. Those are way too high for fuckload of new movies. I know plebs are idiots that will rate mediocre movies 10's, we aren't talking about the odd guy really liking some rather bad movie a lot, but general public in general. Also there are absolutely massive amount of bots ran by studios and their marketing companies.

Heyoo

The extend anti-nuke people have to go to dream up horrors is pretty funny. I think I'm going to stash this TV show with the ManBearPig episode South Park into a time capsule so the future Avengers of the Wasteland can know who go back in time to kill.

It’ll melt down

Fukushima sequel next year?

That's actually significant.

Attached: 1557739635052.jpg (875x875, 119K)

it's even funnier when they account for the hundred deaths that occurred in chernobyl yet ignore the complete environmental catastrophe that other energy sources have been to the world

It's a great show, obviously the Band of Brothers effect. Something telling such a contained (true-ish) story is gonna have a way easier time knocking it out of the park with ratings in a season than a fictitious show like Breaking Bad that's obviously doing something way different and for way longer. Game of Thrones still a fucking shit.

>fuck nuclear shit
>there was literally 0 FUCKING zero a decade without an accident here or there
>Just look at the statistics
Fuck stupid hippies. Coal, oil and gas power kills orders of magnitude more people every year than nuclear power accidents have killed in entire history. Same applies to even solar and wind power.

I concur

Tell me how a show about an RBMK reactor can explode.

I know this is bait but the comment brings out the possibility that there are people out there who are old enough to find this board, but young enough to not know how to say Chernobyl.

?

literally every review site these days is commandeered by studios. they either a. pay off (or coax positive scores via handouts and exclusive events) a bunch of journalists to shill their shit or b. hire a farm of pajeets to astroturf and spread positive scores via user rating. every single review aggregate website is not to be trusted for any medium.

I heard Chernobyl got bad reviews. So how is it so high up?

>respectful towards the survivors
They haven't shown Alexander Yuvchenko's recovery yet. They even made it seem like he would die on spot with him smoking under firefighter water. If they only show death's (except Dyatlov) and the most horrible cases exclusively it is dishonest anti-nuclear propaganda. We'll have to see in future episodes.

It's been shilled very, very professionally by HBO.

If any of you read this post, bravo... bravo.

it was 3.6 at best.

Really? I'm russian and I see how russian people throw they lives away to save the world and how all country works together to fix this disaster.

Never heard of it

>zoomer never heard of Chernobyl

Russian government tends to praise the glorious Soviet Union. This show is about their fuckups. If anything they would be down voting it.

Entire process leading to accident and immediate reaction to the accident are quite uniquely Russian. Soviet Union was only an extension of Russia past its borders. Reactor design as dangerous would have never approved to be built outside of SU in first place.

Mini-series

when are we streaming this bich

No, when they potentially blow up and fuck up your land. Why do you think everyone builds their powerplants as close to the border as they can?

The potential damage is what it's all about, which is also why we don't just shoot our waste into space.

Band of Brothers is kinda fictional in many ways. Book it is based on trash tier when it comes history books.

>The problem are not the people killed, but by the land being irritated.
All those poison land and seas as well.

>No, when they potentially blow up and fuck up your land. Why do you think everyone builds their powerplants as close to the border as they can?
You have been terribly misinformed about nuclear power plants.

It's really good, and really focused. I think the lack of focused storytelling is playing in its favour. There are no four quadrants crap here, no appealing to all demographics or executives suggestions. It's just "so this shit happened and these people did this stuff to try and solve it" and that's all. Its simplicity and focus is its greatest asset, I'd say.

you're delusional from feed water

>Why do you think everyone builds their powerplants as close to the border as they can?
Nope. How uneducated and technically illiterate are you?

Those are usually built on coast and on river fronts due to availability of cooling water. Guess how rivers work in warfare? That is the traditional way of drawing the fucking borders. Those are fucking natural barriers. Relatively easy to defend and problematic to cross.

>also why we don't just shoot our waste into space.
Put all that dangerous waste into unreliable rocket that can blow up high in atmosphere. You should be more fucking consistent.

Electricity comes from the plug. Vegan diet full of exotic fruits hauled halfway across the world is ecologically sustainable. Also gotta travel south-east Asia to experience off the beaten path tourism for couple months. If you are adult I bet you have degree in humanities or arts.

It's absolutely based but this always happens and it will drop eventually moron

>writer insert "smart" character enters and says things that nobody really knew without hindsight
The thing with Soviet Union is that they routinely disregarded safety in everything and the fact that in authoritarian systems there are always yes men and people that won't be the guy who says the harsh truth to people above them in hierarchy. Russian culture even prior to Soviet-era has regarded fatalisticnegligence as virtue.

You get to see the dicks of a bunch of burly miners. So it may be the perfect show.

I was so amazed that this literally happened. Fuck Nuclear power like seriously.

With good reason, it tells a true story while also making it dramatic and engaging. It's what all fiction set during history wishes it could be.

While it's not what I'd call historically accurate or a documentary it's good historical fiction that weaves history into it's fiction in what you'd call an "authentic" way that doesn't make it unbelievable. There is no way of knowing what was said during these meetings and it has many fictional characters standing in for the hundreds of real people who otherwise would make the story hard to follow but you believe fictional side of it almost implicitly.

The thing tith the Thoviate Thunion ith that they routhenily dithregarded safey in efrefing and the fact thhat in authoritharian thistems they are always yeth men and people thath wonth be the guy who thays the harth thurth to people above thhem in the heirachy.

Plenty of border rivers in the world. Overlay it current and historical national borders. Rivers aren't only natural barrier. Until industrial age those were much harder to cross and history goes long way beyond industrial age.

Sure. There is a reason why posted US locations of nuclear power plants. There isn't national borders inside US, so it kinda points out that borders are irrelevant for locations of nuclear power plants.

I'm in favour of more nuclear power but saying a vegan diet requires exotic fruits from across the world is like saying a carnist diet requires whale meat.

The future of nuclear is in the next generation of reactors. Once those are ready they can be scaled up.

I honestly didn't know this existed until I decided to look up Chernobyl documentaries a few days ago. Is it actually good?

Well said. I'd strongly recommend it to just about anyone.

Is it really that good?

>I'm in favour of more nuclear power but saying a vegan diet requires exotic fruits from across the world is like saying a carnist diet requires whale meat.
Urban vegan hipster hippies usually have worse carbon footprints than rural rednecks. They are ultimate hypocrites when they preach about global warming and global social issues. While they don't have to eat exotic imported foods, majority of 'em absolutely do so.

My biggest takeaway was that the USSR was shitty. I am normally hyper aware of anti drumpf metaphors, but honestly I didn't get that vibe at all here.

>I am normally hyper aware of anti drumpf metaphors, but honestly I didn't get that vibe at all here.
The main theme is “the government lying leads to catastrophe,” and in the podcast the creator of the show outright said this theme is a commentary on Trump. I guess its harder to tell since its twice removed, but nonetheless that is the intention.

This. The cliche seems perfectly fine when it actually happened IRL.

Fukushima was caused by a freak natural disaster, not human incompetence.

This sums it up perfectly.

Not even meming, coal power stations release more radiation than nuclear power stations.

I don't know how a director like this can think that this show is somehow sticking it to drumpfkins when the Soviet Union was as far left as you can get. There's a picture of Karl Marx literally hanging on the wall of the meeting room; the Chernobyl power plant was named after Lenin; Gorbachev hated Regan. Hard to escape the reality that the cover up of Chernobyl was enabled by authoritarian leftists.

>muh russia bad
>muh nuclear bad
It's liberal propaganda pushing the climate hoax.

Attached: D7CQkVzW4AEKxnh.jpg (951x1200, 114K)

Lefties usually emphasize the “authoritarian” part of authoritarian-left regimes. This allows them to compare things like the Soviet Union, or Mao’s China, to people on the right because “authoritarian.”
Basically they’re saying the Soviet Union was authoritarian, but le so is Trump meme, so that’s how they connect it to him.

You know what else is propaganda? Come&See. Doesn't stop it from being absolute kino. I know I'm responding to nonsense/trolling but I don't care.

Also to everyone asking 'is it that good', just take an hour of your life to watch the first episode and decide for yourself. You can immediately tell if you'll like it or not.

>conspiracy

Attached: images.jpg (230x219, 4K)

yeah, which they caused by being incompetent retards.

agree with everything except anti-nuclear propaganda, they at least make an effort to imply everything that happened was a result of incompetence

it's part of the new left's inherent cognitive dissonance that prevents them from thinking clearly about subjects and clearly define their ideology and stances on the matters
they just believe in something and conjecture, and anything that goes against the fabrication they usually dismiss as something that has an explanation to but they don't know about it yet

Come and See is the exact opposite of propaganda since the Soviets made them wait eight years before they approved it.

Zoomer standards

You need to read up on what propaganda means.

i dont think you understand what those words that there you used do mean. you did but only use them in order to fabricatanate an appearancoid of your intelligeficataions

When it comes to Russia, it has always been authoritarian, at least aside from times it under revolution or something, and that is never going to change. It will be authoritarian and

Yugoslavia and Romania weren't part of Soviet Union. Regimes Soviets set up into "liberated" countries were mostly commies that had been exiled from their respective home countries after the post WWI commie uprisings had failed.

In most Soviet Republics local leadership was mostly Russian with token locals as figureheads, especially when it came to things like state security apparatus. SU also exported Russian colonists to other Republics. So industrial waste wasn't only kind of pollution SU spread across. So there are large Russian expatriate communities in places where those shouldn't exist.

Well it’s definitely not Soviet propaganda.

Atomic energy isn't cheap. It's incredibly expensive, primarily due to economies of scale. No one wants to support nuclear power anymore so the market is very low demand. If every country was shitting out power surpluses with nuclear technology, it would be actually viable.
Problem is that "renewables" have become the new fad because they can manufacture them for obsolescence and work in a failure rate after 10 years then resell the product.

I feel like miniseries such as this and planet earth should be categorized separately from the long-running format of traditional television.

Not to say it's a bad show by any means, but the ratings are hard to quantify when they don't have to maintain the quality for as long.

Nuclear accident happend when you use shit reactor design (ie. not PWR) and/or when you have no/insufficient safety & security like a shithole country.

>Nuclear is literally the only non-ntermittent carbon-free source of electricity.

there is a waste disposal problem from fission reactors. And even in a well designed and operated plant like fukashima a once in a 1000year natural disaster can destroy the plant. Even though little radiation was released and the containment systems worked , it still produced a mess that will take 100 years to clean up.

it's a good show, but not the best tv show man ever created no. I find it offensive to compare it to absolute crap such as TWD or ST. My diagnostic: someone should take you to the infirmary.

the tv show is a solid 8 at most. frankly, this show is good, but lacks any artistic beauty. the colors are muted as fuck, to the point it's actually ruining the show. We have 2 more episodes and there's legit no way they can make this not feel rushed. Some of the soundtrack is directly lifted from other sources, including Apocalypse Now and FMJ I believe. Stalker was far more beautiful and artistic, had a wonderful soundtrack and a fantastic direction. this show moves way too fast, often there's no time to breathe and take it in, take in the abandoned homes or whatever. Seriously, I'm suprised at how under saturated everything is. the first episode was fantastic, the second decent, the third was good, but this show is not a 9.7 out of 10, no matter who you ask. it's taken everything from IRL, written a script, built the sets, and filmed it. they've done nothing but bring reality onto the screen, and it just lacks any originality or direction. I.e. most tv shows

Would you trust one in Africa? If the answer is no then it isn't the way to go

stop posting fake shit. Also, have sex.

Yeah and it was said an RBMK reactor was impossible to explode

Nothing, absolutely nothing, is dipshit proof. There are a lot of dipshit countries

Where can I see episode 4?

There werent 54 deaths. There were tens of thousands of deaths. The 54 is just those directly confirmed.

It's not silent, but there's no equivalent in the 26-letter Latin alphabet for ы (Romanian language uses â and î to denote it).

Hydroelectric dams never stop and are carbon free

just wait for 6-7 hours to torrent it.

Will season 2 be set in Fukushima?

Fukishima violated safety protocol. The meltdown was caused by a coolant pump failure, because all of their coolant pumps were in the basement. They were meant to on the second floor. And still, very few people were effected. The choice is between definetly killing hundreds of thousands every year from coal, and oil, or having the risk of entirely avoidable accidents, which will still likely kill only a few dozen at the absolute most should they occour.

More likely to be set in your mum's radioactive pussy

2ch dot nk begs to differ

that wasnt very nice user

The terror is better.

It’s all been relatively tastefully done and not crossed into the realm of being gratuitous, unlike GoT. Episode 1 is pretty kino and just really well done. Series overall is doing a good job of trying to convey the truth of the matter in the form of drama without being over the top or inventing too many things. I find the overall mood to be very “Soviet”. Overall, it’s a really well put together miniseries and head and shoulders above anything else Hollywood is doing.

why these documentaries always spawn retards like this?

Between the molten salt reactors and small modular reactor technology, nuclear power is incredibly safe. There’s just been so much red tape put up that it’s cost prohibitive. We need to re-evaluate regulations in light of the new technology.

They don’t spawn them. They just help us identify them.

That red tape wasn't put up by accident, it is intentional blocking introduced by the oil companies who want to keep America oil reliant. Many European countries are expanding their use of nuclear power. Even Saudi Arabi, one of the world's largest oil producers, is aiming to be 0% oil reliant by 2050, and are attempting to buy uranium from the American government.

Even 2M is not too shabby for a documentary about something that happened a third of a century ago. What else happened in 1986 that is anywhere near as memorable?

The Jews funding that Swedish girl don't have any nuclear energy hedge funds

its actually less than 1 million. Do

Yugoslavia was a neutral communist country that played East and West off of each other while leading the Non Aligned movement. It is a shame to call them Soviet puppets.

>thoughts?
I´ll be wait till end before guiving any kind of rattings

i thought it felt like historical horror, a genre i dont think ive seen done this well. its good, not my favorite, but damn is it ominous. i only watched the first episode so far, i hope they continue with this mood and pacing the entire series

>look at how shit the quality of posting is.
user, never understimate how braindead retard any human can be

damn, I want a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. movie now

Thanks for notify me, I'm going to make a lot of account to dislike this shit.

shill

it's british-american fascist propaganda
the usa unleashed nuclear weapons on the world and britain covered up its own nuclear disaster at wakefield
imperialist projection, plain and simple

Can you recommend me some good miniseries? My main board is Yea Forums and I only came here to see what Yea Forums thinks of this show. I love art cinema but Western TV dramas are not my forte (I’m pretty solid on Britcoms and non-shit anime), I’m watching The Wire and plan to watch True Detective, The Sopranos, Deadwood, Twin Peaks, and possibly Breaking Bad. Problem is that most of them are really fucking long, so this assertion that miniseries are the best interests me.

dark

>really fucking long
yeah, sure you read. Like Harry Potter, Tolkien, GOTR, the list could go on. No but seriously if you can't maintain an interest in the shows you mentioned for the reason you stated, you're fucking dumb, you probably wouldn't even be able to read HP or Tolkien or whatever because they look quite heavy.
Apply yourself, starting with books and moving on to the lesser art forms.

It's a 3.6/10. Not great, not terrible. Episode 1 is pure Kino though.

>anti-Russian propaganda

Anti-Soviet, chief, and anti-authoritarian in general. It's the case against the ruling elites and people in charge, not the people.

Will they be back tonight?

Shame about the terrible accents though

I never said that I couldn’t maintain an interest because they were too long, only that I don’t have time for tons of shows of that length, especially because TV is not as major an interest as literature for me, so I only rarely have time to watch hour long episodes as opposed to 20-30 minute ones and don’t want to watch a film instead. If I watched an episode of The Wire every day I’d finish it in two months, but I don’t, I kind of have little bursts where I have time and then really long periods where I don’t. And that’s not a problem, it’s just that I’m not going to be able to watch more than a few shows of that length in the near future. On the other hand I read every day, so I have read ~25 books so far this year including Don Quixote which is nearly a thousand pages and Crime and Punishment which is 700, and that’s with exams. I’d just like some miniseries that concentrate the kino.
