The prequels are good. I rewatched force awakens the other day and it was actually worse than i remembered... i didn't see it in theaters but i did see last jedi and i actually think last jedi is a little better now.. at least it has the hyperspace missile scene which was the only memorable effect in any of these movies. i miss being back during the time when only the force awakens trailer was out and i didn't know that kylo ren was a retard who drools on himself and sucks at fighting.
He was a good friend.
Groundbreaking special effects and soundtrack, solid acting, solid hero story.
>at least it has the hyperspace missile scene which was the only memorable effect in any of these movies
thank you
I just finished watching the original 1977 theatrical release in 4K, and it might be the best piece of cinema ever created.
I thought this was pretty good.
Seventy-sevened
It's literally copy-paste good v. evil story. At least the sequels have moral grey areas.
>original 1977 theatrical release
,original May cut, or the general August release that got sold on video?
And nice numbs.
>hyperspace missile scene
yeah as a pure effect, it was a great moment. Just wish it made more sense and had a better plot attatched to it.
Is that the post-Silver grindhouse?
>Just wish it made more sense and had a better plot attatched to it.
At least Admiral Dildo is gone.
I couldn't be sure, it's the project 4k77 version.
that was a plus as well.
If you say Star Wars was never good, then you're essentially saying Western Civilization was never good lol
They prequels aren't good. Star Wars, like the Terminator series, has more shitty movies than good ones.
>it's the project 4k77 version.
Oh that's a keeper. I like grindhouse too aka no DNR.
>no DNR
That's the version I just watched, I'll download both and compare. Opinion seems divided.
nah, the first two films are kino, third one is a mixed bag
the first one was boring
it's a slower paced kino for a more civilized age
Aren't we ever going to get the original unretouched version from the studio?
Well, I'm not sure why you'd bother, I mean, at the price of "having it look cleaner" you will lose detail and after going through the trouble to download it (mine is 83.8GB) it seems self-defeating to watch that downgraded in any way.
was as good it made to , but still enough we're about OT ignore beyond .
Star Wars didn't really live up to the hype for me. Anyone have any other space kinos that I might like?
>Aren't we ever going to get the original unretouched version from the studio?
Not as long as Kathleen Kennedy is around. She as asked that, her reply was to laugh and proclaim that she wouldn't dare touch what Lucas did [in 1997]. We're stuck with the Special Editions if we want to be good little drone consumers. Personally, I own more official copies of SW than I can remember, so I think I'm entitled to have a real (albeit Frankenstein'd) 35 scan of the original. We are so lucky we even have that, plus most of it is from a legit Technicolor print.
the first star wars is dated but still a fun adventure movie. very impressive editing too compared to the trash released nowadays.
user did you make this
I just want an official release of the premiere version (owned by CBS for some reason) of SW which include the Biggs scenes and more. It's not radically different, but the editing favors Han more in one scene instead of the droids which home video has always shown. HBO also had another version in its possession.
>the first star wars is dated
I agree. It's really slow now compared to similar modern day sci-fi action like Fury Road.
Yeah, everything you see in the film happened in my bathroom. I'm good.
бacд
I don't speak ixy pixy. Help.
I think they just called you a fag, dude.
Butthurt mongoloids? Impossible.
The prequels are a dwarf masterwork.
Ur boring lol
It's sad to go back and watch the originals and realise that you only liked these movies because you were a little kid.
Prequel defenders are the biggest plebs known to mankind.
Sequel defenders, well, they're bought and paid for by the mouse.
This is now a KotOR thread.
>Prequel defenders are the biggest plebs known to mankind.
>secretly watches TPM
Oh please. Elaborate.
This. Not to mention that the effects and technology developed at ILM (which was born to make SW) changed Hollywood way of making movies. ILM took part directly or indirectly in the most influential movies that required visual effects for decades. From Riders of the lost ark and Labyrinth to Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, Willow, Dark Crystal, the neverending story, Back to the Future, Jumanji, Dragonheart, Harry Potter, Mission impossible and so on. Heck, without ILM we wouldn´t have Pixar.
So yeah, SW was THAT big even when we don´t take into account the quality of the movies themselves (which where also fucking great at this guy says. Memorable adventures to the bone) and it is quite painful to see how it went from that to become just another exploited IP with so many irrelevant filler entries that don´t mean anything anymore and that are not even good. Luckily there is a clear breaking point both from the legal point of view as well as the aesthetic one.
