Terminator 2 didn't need a sequel because the film shouldn't exist in the first place. If they wanted a sequen to the original film they should have kept it as a suspense/thriller. Making some schlock last action hero kid friendly special effects wankfest like they did should have killed the franchise but normies ate it up and action movies have been shit ever since. First film is phenomenal though.
