Spock doesn't talk about his family when he doesn't have to. He didn't tell Kirk that Sarek is his father until Sarek was already aboard the Enterprise. He didn't tell Kirk that Sybok is his brother until Sybok was already aboard the Enterprise. Spock talks about his family as little as possible.
