The supervisor told xir to shitpost Godzilla because the movie is about to be released in just a few days.
I am sure this movie will be far from kino.
at least he's doing something different and applying a smidgen of originality. It would have been so much easier for him - both compositionally and for dealing with tone-deaf producers - to just follow the flavor of the month Remote Control style.
It already is though. Every shot with kaiju in it is pure kino.

The towering greatness lives
Soothe the rage you rush about in

It's about trying to evoke how all these monsters were worshipped as gods in ancient times, to the point where there's tracks with vocals written in ancient Babylonian.

based laughing Rodan poster
Just saw an advanced screening today on a military post.
Mothra stabs Rodan with a stinger (Rodan lives), Ghidorah kills Mothra, Godzilla kills Ghidorah, then several monsters including Rodan bow to Godzilla as the King.
It was good?
Most kino Godzilla moment?
Yes, it was. Had a great time and everyone I was with loved it. I thought the humans were a little underdeveloped, Charles Dance in particular doesn't do much and feels underutilized, but the monsters are all great and every one of them gets their time to shine.
How bad were the quips?
Was there a post credits scene?

Absolute pleb tier. Probably didn't even see shin or 2014 in Tokyo
Tell him to go see Kaijukino instead of whatever gay shit they planned.
i'm buying imax tickets tomorrow for two of my pals who are actually cool enough to put two hours aside for kaijukino. true friends desu
>How bad were the quips?
There are a few, usually from the older male with the glasses, but usually the dialogue is taken seriously and nothing really stands out to me as having been super jarring. I'd say the thing I noticed the most is when something bad is about to happen (like a dude about to get stepped on or blasted by Ghidorah) they go "OH SHI---" and then they die, I feel like that happened at least twice, maybe three times. I think the only moment that got a lot of laughs in the theater was after a pregnant pause and the chinese girl goes, "...That BITCH!"
So, not so quippy.
>Was there a post credits scene?
I heard there was, but I didn't stick around to see it. My group left.
Not too mature for capeshit, but kind off bored of it already. I was skipping 70% of MCU output by Phase 2, just going to cinema for Avengers films and GotG.
I want capeshit to recede and Kaiju kino to take over now.
you seem mad, capeshitter. have people already stopped talking about your shitty movies?
Major spoilers:
Ken Watanabe's Dr. Serizawa sacrificing himself to rejuvinate the dying Godzilla with a nuke, placing his hand on his scales and saying, "Goodbye, old friend" in moonspeak was honestly great and tugged at the heartstrings

Mine's too transparent
You’ve seen one capeshit movie, you’ve seen them all. The MCU is just a glorified soap opera at this point.
>Mothra dies
But she resurrects, right?
>I will never witness Godzilla swinging Anguirus like a club in a AAA, multi million dollar budgeted major motion picture
Why even live?
The monsters feature heavily and are interspersed throughout the film and each and every one gets their time to shine.
Mothra is featured at the very beginning in larval stages, and we get a nice scene with the humans trying to communicate with her using the new kaiju-call sound-replicator before the eco-terrorists bust in to ruin it all.
Ghidorah awakens specatularly next and rampages for a short while in the antarctic before Godzilla shows up and they fight; Ghidorah leaves.
Rodan is next, awoken in Mexico and his awakening is amazing, flying over the city and just annihilating it. The humans lead him to Ghidorah, who makes short work of him, but Godzilla shows up and drags Ghidorah under the water, tearing off one of his heads. The Navy employs the Oxygen Destroyer, which seems to kill them both, but then Ghidorah emerges unharmed, grows back his head, takes position atop Rodan's mountain and commands all other monsters across the earth to awaken. Rodan bows to Ghidorah. Ghidorah is unaffected by the oxygen destroyer and is able to completely regenerate his head because it is revealed he is an alien entity who "fell from the stars" in ancient times and is upsetting the balance of the Earth by his presence alone; all giant monsters awaken and are being commanded by him to destroy everything in their paths. Ghidorah is an apocalypse in this film, surrounded by a storm at all times, a creature of absolute terror & horrible majesty.
Mothra emerges from her cocoon and she is beautiful; everyone is in awe of her. She appears surrounded in golden light and blue energy during most scenes and is like a spectral being from the heavens (still a physical giant butterfly, mind you, I'm just talking about how much gravitas her appearance is given by the music and the reactions). She leads the humans to the wounded Godzilla, and is described as the "Queen of the Monsters", in a mutually beneficial/symbiotic relationship with Godzilla.

Not everyone is a race and cultural traitor.
Please, would love some info on the new monsters. Do they get some sort of backstory or they just appear, destroy stuff and bow down to the king?
Nice dubs tho
Godzilla and Ghidorah prepare to fight, both lured to Boston by the kaiju-calling device. Mothra appears and does battle with Rodan. For a moment it seems that Rodan is about to kill Mothra, but then she stabs him with a stinger, and he seems to die. (He doesn't.)
Godzilla is heavily wounded, Ghidorah is a powerhouse and at one point picks Godzilla up and drops him from what seems like the upper atmosphere. The humns detect that Godzilla is threatening to go critical and explode. Mothra, her wings badly charred, crawls upon his body and attempts to protect him. She flies at Ghidorah, who blasts her and utterly annihilates her with concentrated lightning-breath; her essence then falls upon Godzilla and seems to reinvigorate him.
The humans lure Ghidorah away just long enough for Godzilla to get back up, now full-on Burning Godzilla, who unleashes red waves of energy. His very presence is melting everything around him, and he destroys two of Ghidorah's heads before stepping upon him on the ground, his foot melting through Ghidorah's chest. He unleashes a final blast, and ghidorah seems to emerge from the rubble; but it is actually his final head in Godzilla's mouth, being devoured before he uses his atomic breath to destroy him entirely.
New monsters:
A giant spider-like monster, not really like Kumonga, but something else. Looks almost kind of like a giant spider-crab with tentacles hanging down in the middle.
A massive ape-mammoth. Hairy all over, walks on knuckles like an ape but with gigantic elephant-like tusks.
A giant reptile who doesn't seem to have much of a good appearance (I'm struggling to remember a clear shot of it) but it is in hibernation in Germany when it awakens, it was basically a small mountain range that comes alive and rises. Seems very armored, reminds me of the Terrasque from Dungeons & Dragons for those familiar.
Another muto makes an appearance at the end.
>Do they get some sort of backstory or they just appear, destroy stuff and bow down to the king?
They mention many monsters all over the world, and many of them gets names on a tablet as a character swipes through various profiles of them, but I didn't catch them (too quick, but I'm sure people will analyze them in screenshots). Ghidorah has them awaken and rampage, but only a few of them show up at the end once the fight is over.
The film ends with Rodan and the new monsters bowing down to Godzilla. Kong is name-dropped several times but doesn't join the monster mash; he is only seen in archival footage and background shots of Kaiju.

so I have no idea how this kaiju lore thing works, is this like a rock-paper-scissors type situation or is godzilla just top dog in all situations?
Tomatomete: 54
OH NO NO NO HAHAHHAA
rottentomatoes.com
Are you ok, user?
Ghidorah and Godzilla honestly seem very evenly matched, as do Rodan and Mothra, who both seem a tier below them. Ghidorah and Godzilla trade off dominating each other in various moments, but ultimately it seems like Ghidorah is more powerful and could defeat him were it not for Mothra and the human's intervention to help Godzilla.
Though, at one point, Godzilla brings Ghidorah into the water, where he clearly has a huge advantage; had the Navy not launched their Oxygen Destroyer, the fight may have ended there with Godzilla's victory.
I suppose what I'm getting at is that there is no such thing as rock-paper-scissors or power levels, it's all context.
I wonder how much the Pentagon helped with this one
Wednesday evening here.
Do Godzilla and Rodan ever fight?
Godzilla 2014 was shameless .mil propaganda for Israel’s foreign legion, which is one of the many reasons it sucked so bad.
>made you check
BAHAHAHA
Rodan is running interference for Ghidorah after getting his ass handed to him, and would have fought Godzilla were it not for Mothra coming to take care of him. They fight, and Mothra defeats him, but Mothra is terribly wounded in the attempt and her wings are charred; Ghidorah finishes her off when she goes to protect Godzilla.
You sound disturbed, you need help there buddy?
Considering there are military aircraft in nearly every poster and trailer, the admiral from 2014 is back, and Ice Cube's son is playing an army dude, I'd say they helped plenty
>and Ice Cube's son is playing an army dude
Oh, so that's why that bearded soldier kept showing up
>Godzilla finally shows up after like an hour

>Godzilla lets out a massive roar as he prepares to fight the muto
>Immediately cut to a scene of a kid with 5 seconds of the Godzilla fight playing on the tv in the background before he swims off into the sea
Who the fuck thought this was a good idea?
I’ve got what I think is the head of a Rodan model that was purchased from a Japanese movie prop vendor.
If I take a picture of it could any of you guys identify it?
Whens my boy Gigan getting an appearance?
It was a good idea. A decent laugh. The fact that it happens 3 more times is borderline retarded.
seems fake to me
Considering that Ghidorah is an alien in this film, very likely, since alien kaiju are now established.
Just gonna dump these webums I made after watching Godzilla vs Gigan the other night.
When Toho stops being stingy with letting other studios use their kaiju, or decides to make more movies themselves
Iirc the director said he thought it was a good idea because it worked in Jaws. He was worried that the effect the monsters have on the audience would wear off if he showed too much too soon.
His instincts weren't wrong imo, he just miscalculated and ended up overcompensating in the opposite direction.
Jaws was a shit movie too
To be fair, when Godzilla and MUTOs finally fight, it's pretty much kino. it's just a slag to get to that.
This part was pretty awesome.
Best girl.
This movie was really weird. I noticed a ton of re-used Ghidora footage from other movies, and re-used Godzilla footage as well with at least 3 different Godzilla suits making appearances.
The Gigan and Ghidora interactions were great in this.
I take it no one cares, but here’s the head anyway.
Any help would be appreciated.
All those hints at Godzilla X Mothra.
Hell, even when she dies she gives Godzilla the ability to finally kill Ghidorah. Power of love?
You think its a prop from an actual film?

It was sold as a prop from an unspecified Japanese kaiju film from the mid 60’s.
No idea whether it’s Toho or not because the purchaser accidentally threw away documents pertaining to its provenance.

It's fun to watch these movies with an audience of fellow Godzillafags.
