They never actually told us whether or not Tyrion is a Targaryen bastard.
They never actually told us whether or not Tyrion is a Targaryen bastard
What? Why would he be? Why does everyone need to be a targaryen?
-Aerys lusted after his mother
-Hair thats almost white compared to the rest of his family
-mismatched eyes, the near black one is probably actually dark purple.
-Tywin suspected he was not his
-A lot of the targ prophevies revolves around the number 3. Jon, Tyrion, Dany all killed their mothers in child birth
-Tyrion loves heat
-Tyrion was abnormally obsessed with dragons growing up
Because GRRM is obsessed by them and keeps putting them everywhere. Basically in the books there are hints that the Mad King fucked Tywin's wife at some point, plus Tyrion has dreams about and is facinated by dragons.
There's also speculation that it's Jaime/Cersei who are targs as Jaimes aunt tells him that "Tyrion is Tywin's son, not you" Either way it doesn't seem to have enough impact to put in the show.
I hate how the show also ruins the books
I'm convinced that tyrion is aerys's son but it will be one of those things that won't ever be explicitly stated in the books and will be an easter egg fans can pick out from the text.
True. For example: You can tell by how the /got/ threads changed when the show overtook the books. They used to be filled with all kinds of theorycrafting and speculation and by the end it was just spam and waifuposting. The show confirmed what storylines and characters would be relevant and which that weren't. Should the next book come out they won't be as enjoyable because they will just be an elaborate way to get to the same endpoint.
I heard a pretty convincing theory that it was Jaime and Cersei who were the Mad King's children, since he took Tywin's wife to bed when he married her.
Because that would be retarded. Tyrion is Tywins son, more than Jaime
But what if the mother was Targaryen?
Targaryen blood is pretty meaningless desu, there's literally hundreds if not thousands of people in westeros who have Targ blood in them.
It's one of the most retarded fan theories, barely logical even if you remove Tywin from the equation
This would make more thematic sense. Having Tyrion be a targ would retroactivly lessen the impact of him killing Tywin. It would also be more of a blow to Tywin that his two "perfect" children are actually Aerys', while his own son is a deformed ugly dwarf who on top of it iherited his cunning.
I think Jon, Dany, and Young Griff is enough
Exactly, plus the incest it just makes sense. Also would sort of explain why he didn't go out of his way to stop them when he found out.
Hes not
>i cannot prove that you are not mine
Young Griff might actually be the legitimate heir. If you go back to King Daeron the second theres speculation that he was a bastard to his fathers wife and her brother, same as jamie, cersei and joffrey
We'll probably know for certain in the next book. If Tyrion is a Targ there'll be some kind of reaction form the dragons.
Not so sure about that, some characters became wrapped up in others. No way Cersei is the final baddie in the book and will never be on the throne.
Joanna was not in kings landing when they were born or concieced though
What is gurm going to do about Aegon and Jon being entirely different people? What is Jon's role going to be if him and Aegon are both Targs?
Considering how GRRM loves his SUBVERSION. How likely do you think it'll be that Aerys was actually a good guy who got headfucked by sorcery? Older people keep going on about how Aerys was warm, generous and overly friendly with everyone as a young man/young adult and that the madness didn't come until middle age.
Oh he was supposed to be the baby Gregor killed, but then that leaves his sister. I don't even know anymore.
Do we know for a fact that Joanna wasn't in kings landing while Tywin was hand? I doubt that to be honest.
I thought Aerys was at Tywin's wedding and this happened on their honeymoon night before Tywin could consummate the marriage. The twins wouldn't have existed prior to this.
Aegon is likely a secret blackfyre and will take over kings landing and the westerlands with ease. Dany will end up warring with Aegon and her tipping into madness/villain territory will be that Aegon will be a loved and just king, and Dany will essentially overthrow him despite all that AND him being the legitimate heir (as far as everyone except Varys will know).
Jon's fate will probably be as some kind of immortal semi-undead king that rules over or wards against the others.
Yea Forums should just finish the books at this point.
So they did a vagina switcheroo as the baby was passing through the birth canal? Makes sense
All that's said about the wedding is that "Aerys took liberties during the bedding ceremony" which means that he fondled her in an overly sexual manner while she was being undressed. I sincerely doubt that he fucked her that night as everyone would be gossiping about it as it'd be impossible to hide.
I find it much more likely that Aerys fucked Joanna while Tywin was hand in the following years as it'd be easy for him to ensnare her while Tyrwin was doing one of his million hand duties, especially as Aerys was starting to get jealous of Tywin. Fucking Tywins wife would be a power-move I could see him make.
Aerys wasn't that crazy at first, he just became increasingly paranoid because he was scared shitless of Tywin who was the one who truly held power in the realm. After that, basically everyone started plotting against him and that drove him mad.
So when Dany was destroying kings landing there should have a been a bunch of targ bastards that were not able to be burned
I think GRRM said that the immune to fire is a Dany thing and not a Targ thing. There are targaryens who accidently set themselves on fire and died
GRRM said that no one is inmune to fire.
Dany going into the pyre and awakening dragons was a magical moment akin to the resurrection of Christ, but she's not inmune to fire.
Not even Dany is immune to fire, her being unburnt by the funeral pyre was a miracle
The problem I have with this is that it won't work so well with Dany going Mad Queen. The way I see it play out is that GRRM is going to "subvert" the reader by giving him what he has wanted then showing the horrific consequences of that. The reader has hated the Lannisters from the start and probably wanted them to be taken down violently at many points in the series. Dany decides to do just that and we are then shown the bloodbath that ensues. It also means Jon going to war with someone who has done him absolutely no wrong because he has to be there to kill Dany.
I'm not sure how the books will deal with Aegon but I'm pretty sure he'll be gone before the end.
It's a background speculation at this point. It's not meant to be brought up as nearly everyone involved at the time has since died, and no records probably exist of all the time Arys managed to get a rape or two into Joanna.
>Jon's fate will probably be as some kind of immortal semi-undead king that rules over or wards against the others.
Agree. I think that's why he's always having nightmares about the Winterfell crypts and various ghosts of people, and why Bran dreams of him as "skin growing cold and hard" and the "memory of warmth" fleeing from him.
Also agree about the Aegon/Dany shit. If I remember correctly, that fatass said he held back a bunch of stuff from ADWD because his publisher said the book was too long. But originally (I think) it was supposed to end with both Aegon and Dany on their way to Westeros, setting up a confrontation between then for the next book.
>Having Tyrion be a targ would retroactivly lessen the impact of him killing Tywin.
Was just about to post this. It would lessen the meaning of that entire story line.
>he just became increasingly paranoid because he was scared shitless of Tywin
Also because of having been held prisoner for months during a rebellion, and because Varys was ramping up his fears on purpose to destroy him.
>The problem I have with this is that it won't work so well with Dany going Mad Queen. The way I see it play out is that GRRM is going to "subvert" the reader by giving him what he has wanted then showing the horrific consequences of that
I think so too. I think Cersei is the one that will become the Mad Queen (or like Maegor the Cruel). I think Dany will be shown as a warlord or conqueror, who isn't totally insane or out of control - but who does think she's doing what's right. And the consequences of her actions will seem much more horrible when it's happening to characters and locations readers actually care about.
I think you're wrong and Aegon is the prince that was promised, and will be the one who sits on the throne in the end.
I unironically enjoyed watching the destruction of kings landing and thought the Lannister slaughter was perfectly consistent with how it should go down.
Why is this so controversial given the setting?
>Young Griff
>Targaryen
Pick one
Jamie being a targ would help with the Azor Ahai prophecy. It also explains why Cersei and Joffrey are pieces of shit. Also Tywin ignoring that Tyrion is his only child for pride reasons fits his character.
the most inconsistent thing is how worried Tyrion and Jamie were for the citizens of KL
everyone in KL knew Cersei was batshit crazy, had the Cept blown up, had a sexual relationship with her brother, etc, etc. yet none of them ever rebelled
fuck the citizens
It's bullshit, the midget just wanted to protect is sister who he could never fuck.
Depends on which complaints about the episode you're referring to. Some people just think the writing is inconsistent, has too much pointless filler, or that this season was really rushed. Other people are just mad their pretty pretty princess didn't have a happy ending.
Her happy ending died in episode 6, in episode 5 it was still good to go had Dany turned Jon(which would have been a way more interesting ending).
Young Griff is the "Mummer's Dragon" that Quaithe warned Dany about
It's not confirmed outright but the anecdote in the book that Aerys lusted after Tyrion's mother, coupled with Tywin's final words "you're not my son", makes GRRM' intentions all too clear.
Young Griff is Blackfyre though.
Think about it, if ASoIaF is really inspired by the War of the Roses, there should be an imposter who invaded the kingdom, like Perkin Warbeck who claimed to be the brother of Edward V.
Personally I think that all the prince who was promised and other prophecy stuff is just bs. It would fit thematically in asoiaf if prophecies were just kike the ones in our world: made up words.
oh yeah because hes said he loves paying off 100% of his prophesies and forshadowing doesnt he?
The Blackfyres ARE Targaryens. The House was founded by a Daemon Blackfyre, the legitimized bastard son of Aegon Targaryen IV. Daemon took the name Blackfyre after his father gave him the Targaryen ancestral sword of the same name.
>Personally I think that all the prince who was promised and other prophecy stuff is just bs
I don't think it's total BS, but I do think GRRM is trying to make a point about prophecies - that they're wildly open to interpretation, and that's why so many different people could potentially fit the criteria they give.
>There's also speculation that it's Jaime/Cersei who are targs as Jaimes aunt tells him that "Tyrion is Tywin's son, not you"
That seems to have more to do with interests than lineage. Jaime didn't want to be a lord or inherit Casterly Rock, but Tyrion had a much better knack for it and clearly wanted Tywin's approval.
It's a cadet branch, they have no more claim to the Iron Throne than the Karlstark to Winterfell.
Basically yeah, all the people pearl clutching about "innocents" forget how eager these people were to throw cow shit at their leaders whenever they were around
There is no reason why Tyrion would give a single fuck about Cersei, blames him for the murder of his son and father.
Furthermore, in the book Cersei commits a dwarf genocide, by promising a huge ransom for anyone who brings him the head of his dwarf brother, as result every male dwarf in Westeros is hunted and killed, and their head is brought to Cersei, so Cersei had this pile of hundred of dwarf heads.
I wonder why the show left that part out...
if Daemon Blackfyre was a fullh legitimized royal heir then he'd call himself Daemon Targaryen
