Hamfisted symbolism.

>desu i doubt rhaegar and lyanna got married in the books,

Plus why would he not tell anyone

The Lords of Westeros certainly do when it comes to the people they control and seek to control

>“Likely they were too shy to come out,” Ned jested. He could feel the chill coming up the stairs, a cold breath from deep within the earth. “Kings are a rare sight in the north.”
>Robert snorted. “More likely they were hiding under the snow. Snow, Ned!” The king put one hand on the wall to steady himself as they descended.

Nah, Jon is definitely the rightful king and Rhaegar and Lyanna had to have been married for that to happen

Attached: 1558813882483.jpg (276x1280, 62K)

that shit just baffles me. how did nobody take dragonstone while he was away if he left it unoccupied. king's landing is how close by?

They obv didn't get married, that's just dumb show making a feeble attempt at cutting out Aegon and creating strife between Jon and Dany.

What is going through Liam's mind at this EXACT moment?

We all murder hundreds of thousands of non-combatants because their morality is different from ours?

if only they had more time i think a nice little scene would to have jaime pass through the red keep cells and let edmure and ellaria out of their cells. telling them to get out of the city which slows him down so much that he cant make it out with cersei

>Arya rides the horse out of the city
>next episode she's still in the city and the horse is gone

>Nah, Jon is definitely the rightful king and Rhaegar and Lyanna had to have been married for that to happen

From a "secret" marriage. More I learn of this the more I think this marriage and the septon who wrote it down was full of shit.

He’s the messiah. All of the gods so far have an avatar - even the Seven, who don’t have as much direct control over the events of the story, are represented by different characters. Patchface drowns and is revived in a way that’s reminscent of the rituals of the Ironborn, and since that point he speaks only in prophetic rhymes. He’s a brain damaged fool, but he’s also the mouthpiece of the Drowned God.

Ser Rolland Storm had just popped out to go to the shops for ten minutes.

Missandeis good heart

Millions of dollars and a shoe-in for any potential sequel series years down the road, I reckon.

What prophecies has Patchface actually made?

I think D&D not telling Emilia Clarke her character would become Hitler from the beginning was a mistake. She was bratty and entitled but never had the "I'm going to give away the throne and my life so I can roast women and children I've for hours for no reason" unstable child mass killer vibe. If from the very beginning the character was supposed to be not just evil but a gibbering lunatic motivated primarily by the pointless slaughter of children while she spares her enemies they should have told the actress that.

I thought that the Drowned God was secretly Cthulu and that his goal is to usurp the other gods.

If Robb was around when Dany did her advantage, would he have refused to cuck out like his dumbass brother did?

Man there's no way Ellaria made it out alive, she directly killed Cersei's child. Edmure sure, because he didn't really do anything except be some little opponent lord, but no way Ellaria made it out alive.

The issue stems from the fact that her fall to madness happens after the written books.

Them making her literally Hitler was a mistake in itself, though. Even at the breakneck pace they chose for this season, her character could have been morally grey to the end. I think they just decided that they couldn't possibly get away with killing a character like hers unless they went all out making her as unlikable as possible.

Attached: 1533414822050.png (1920x1080, 662K)

Post yfw D&D hated Stannis so much they even took it out on Dillane

>Coster-Waldau told the outlet that while the actors playing minor characters on the series might learn of their character’s death reading the script, most actors who have roles with major arcs or storylines will get that iconic phone call. According to the actor, Benioff and Weiss simply forgot to tell Dillane.

>"The main characters will get a phone call, usually. [laughs] ... A lot of people also just find out when they read the script. I don't think anyone finds out at the actual table read," Coster-Waldau said." For some reason I think Stannis — Stephen Dillane — he found out in his trailer, reading the script, I think because they made a mistake, apparently. They forgot [and said], 'Are you going to call him? No I'm going to call him.' OK! So he was like, 'Are you... what?! I guess I'm not the chosen one, but the red priestess said it was me!' But ... other than that they're pretty good in telling people."

It feels like D&D didn't even know they were gonna go in that direction until a couple episodes ago. Even season 7 is written as if they fully intend for her to be a good queen. The scene in season 8 episode 1 where Sam tells Jon the truth about his parentage felt like the first time the show properly alluded to the notion she may not be a good queen. It felt like the showrunners honestly weren't even intending to go that route until then.

she said they would give her random notes about how they wanted her to act in certain scenes when she was being too soft. they asked her to be more quesionably on the edge. she said she didnt quite no why but it started making sense later

This is the spot where the fookin kingslayer wanted to catapult our boy into riverrun. Good man that Jaime Lannister and he was a good friend.

Attached: chaoshisaramp.jpg (1024x502, 257K)

This. They should have trusted her with the secret. JK Rowling trusted the Snape actor with Snape's secret, and it paid off--they should have done the same with Emilia--she was a major character, much more than Snape was to the HP world.

>The issue stems from the fact that her fall to madness happens after the written books.

Bingo

Book 5 is where here descent begins, when she gets a taste of what ruling is really like. The end of her storyline in that book has her embracing her roots and giving up on fair ruling.

>he thinks muh medieval-style map inaccuracy is a credible excuse for how GRRM obviously just handed-off the crudely-drawn maps from his notes, that were obviously done on standard paper and ignored realistic coastlines in favor of maximizing interior space (thus the 'rectangles' distortion)
Face it user, he could have hired any number of fantasy map artists and let them help make a realistic map the way the show hired a conlang autist to make a realistic language, but GRRM was obviously attached to his laughable absurd map that was probably hanging beside his desk for years. It's an embarrassment and you should be ashamed. If it was meant to be resemble some medieval cartographer's map as you >imply, it would look much different.

What the fuck are you dumb Danyfags talking about? Dany was unhinged and insane from the very start.

well cersei just left her down there to watch her daughter die. theres no reason do believe she might not still be alive. someone could have been slipping her food and water. would have been nice to have her at the new leaders of westeros gathering but the would have been a hit to the budget

He wouldn't have fallen in love with Dany so maybe

Reminder Balor the blessed was "mad" and yet nice as fuck. Being mad doesn't mean you are a mass murdering killer.

Attached: Untitled.png (713x545, 755K)

He predicts the use of wildfire at the Blackwater.
>Under the sea, smoke rises in bubbles, and flames burn green and blue and black. “I know, I know, oh, oh, oh.
He also predicts the Red Wedding in Storm.
>Fool's blood. King's blood, blood on the maiden's thigh, but chains for the guests and chains for the bridegroom, aye, aye, aye.
Melisandre sees his power and thinks he’s evil, but he’s tied to a god of water and she’s tied to a god of fire, so who knows if he actually is. Either way, they’re on opposite sides, which is interesting since they’re both tied to Stannis.
>That creature is dangerous. Many a time I have glimpsed him in my flames. Sometimes there are skulls about him, and his lips are red with blood.

>Benioff and Weiss simply forgot to tell Dillane.
This can't be real
>So he was like, 'Are you... what?! I guess I'm not the chosen one, but the red priestess said it was me!'
Are we sure Dillane isn't Stannis reborn?

Oh god was this what caused "WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS"???

Did D&D accidentally fuck Emilia's acting by being retards?

>It felt like the showrunners honestly weren't even intending to go that route until then.

We kinda forgot Dany is supposed to turn a city to ashes.

No, she wasn't

>So he was like, 'Are you... what?! I guess I'm not the chosen one, but the red priestess said it was me!'
Jesus Christ, is Stephen Dillane actually Stannis? Like, literally Stannis himself?

>He wouldn't have fallen in love with Dany
He literally married the first foreign fuck he was given

Those aren't really comparable though. Dany's is about where her character goes in the future, while Snape's is about who he was in the past. It makes sense for the performer to be aware of the characters' backstory, so that when it's revealed it feels credible to the way he played him, but it isn't as necessary for an actor to be aware of how their character's story to play out. I don't believe JK Rowling told Snape about him killing Dumbledore.

This is based on a Winds sample chapter, but I think the Drowned God exists alongside the other gods, and the eldritch monster attempting to usurp them is Euron. Aeron has a vision of a weird tentacley Euron on the Iron Throne, with all the other gods (Seven, Lord of Light, etc) skewered on its swords. The Drowned God is impaled there along with all the rest.

>Jon also became mad but his Targ madness manifested itself as "Ah dun want it" and muh qween"

>Oh god was this what caused "WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS"???
SEVEN HELLS
HOW CAN TWO MEN BE THIS RETARDED

It's why he was the perfect Stannis despite not knowing the plot, just like real Stannis

accidental kino

Reminder Bronn will be head of the reach when the books end

>D&D not telling Emilia Clarke her character would become Hitler from the beginning was a mistake
That's because they didn't even know Daenerys' endgame until later

For example, the House of the Undying vision was in season 2, D&D didn't sit down with George and get the ending and broad strokes until sometime between seasons 3 and 4*. So that vision was of their own making and not based on anything George told them. They even admitted in the commentary for that scene that they brought Drogo back because they liked Momoa and that the visions were to tempt Dany to stay. But now they literally retconned that scene to be foreshadowing for Dany's death with her touching the throne but not sitting down on it and dying to join Drogo and Rhaego in the afterlife.

Just like Arya closing eyes was in season 3, which they also retconned to mean her killing night king which they only admitted they planned for her to do around 3 years ago.

ALERT, ALERT, DAENERYS IN THE BOOKS DOES NOT GET KILLED BY JON IN THE THRONE ROOM AFTER GOING CRAZY

Daenerys may or may not get killed, but the how, why, when, where, and by who or what were fucked up by D&D

*vanityfair.com/hollywood/2014/03/game-of-thrones-breaking-bad

Yeah, doesn't she approve the torture of some kid hostages in ADWD?

Show writers care so little for the universe that despite there being 20-30 noble houses in the Stormlands, they name the generic lord from there "Une"

Just call him Lord Caron or Lord Buckler.....how hard was that?

>Dany did I ever tell you about the time I sold the Reach to some random sellsword in an inn so he wouldn't kill me? He was a good friend.

What the FUCK subplot is this, GRRM?

Is there anyone on YouTube more based than our supreme autismo, The Dragon Demands?

>did the hard grueling work of watching hundreds of hours of D&D interviews and other material pertaining to the show's development in order to get to the heart of the matter as to exactly why it turned to shit

>knows David Benioff more than David Benioff knows himself

>always speaks in an unapologetic butthurt tone that shows he doesn't give a fuck about being mocked by d&d dicksuckers and /r/asoiafcirclejerk

>has the ability to make 2 hour long whiny autistic rants very entertaining and informative, his unabashed asspain makes you want to join him in energized camaraderie

>patriotic Stannisfag who suddenly flies into a rage when he remembers what D&D did

>employs quirky but enthralling catchphrases in his social media battles against his enemies like "Rhaenyra has an army" and "I am the law" and "welcome to a world with rules"

Attached: Dragon Demands.png (490x580, 277K)

Let me get this straight, Tyrion, a guy who stated in season one that his goal is to live no matter, walks up to dany and basically guarantees his own death by telling her to fuck off. Here’s how this should have gone:

>Tyrion gets on his knees to dany
>my queen I can’t thank you enough for liberating the people of king’s landing”
>you freed your brother
>I freed him to kill Cersei, which he did
>but I should have told you first, I will resign as hand unless you say otherwise your grace

If she makes him resign he can plan on poisoning her later, if not he can advise her not to kill more people.

>no video in six days

Edmure could have been held in Lannisport or any of the other houses in the westerlands since he was at castelry rock in the books with his family.

Mel's PoV in ADWD is so good, wish she was a PoV since Clash.

But the Seastone Chair. Isn't that the Drowned God's seat, or am I remembering incorrectly?

Yeah that was weird considering she agreed to help the North before Jon bent the knee (which they retconned to have Jon say he could either keep his crown or protect the North and chose to protect the North), liked Jon and respected him for not lying to Cersei, said he was right, etc.

Patchface is Azor Ahai.

While George has already said he won't change the ending just because someone figured it out, do you think he might alter things after seeing the reception his intended endings got in the show? He's intelligent enough to know the reception is mostly because of the poor handling of the material rather than the actual plot, but it might still have an impact on how he views his plans.

It's essentially giving him a peek into the future of the reception the books might get, he might've had regrets even if the show never got made, e.g. Rowling said she regretted not pairing up Hermione with Harry.

>admitted they planned for her to do around 3 years ago.

Can't believe people believe these two, they are the kings of bullshit. They clearly had Arya do it because she does absolutley fuck all in S8 and needed an epic moment for her.

George says everyone is getting darker after ADWD though. Doesn't mean she's gonna go mad or turn into literal medieval hitler. Yet the show whitewashes everyone and makes Dany go crazy at the end

Who the fuck made this system?

>edmure gets imprisoned, becomes rad
except that he didn't become Radmure. He reverted to Check 'Em -tier blunder-waving Edmure. Any possible character development was explicitly undone for the sake of one more "badass" throw-away moment for Sansa in the finale when he clumsily gave a speech and she told him to sit down. He never became Radmure on the show, sadly.

Bingo, they wanted to show off the actors.

If season 7 had been longer with way more Jon x Dany buildup scenes and the retardation of episode 6 fixed it could have been great.

>HAVE SEX UNCLE

>“The bleeding star bespoke the end,” he said to Aeron. “These are the last days, when the world shall be broken and remade. A new god shall be born from the graves and charnel pits.” Then Euron lifted a great horn to his lips and blew, and dragons and krakens and sphinxes came at his command and bowed before him. “Kneel, brother,” the Crow’s Eye commanded. “I am your king, I am your god. Worship me, and I will raise you up to be my priest.”

>“Never. No godless man may sit the Seastone Chair!”

>“Why would I want that hard black rock? Brother, look again and see where I am seated.”

>Aeron Damphair looked. The mound of skulls was gone. Now it was metal underneath the Crow’s Eye: a great, tall, twisted seat of razor sharp iron, barbs and blades and broken swords, all dripping blood.

>Impaled upon the longer spikes were the bodies of the gods. The Maiden was there and the Father and the Mother, the Warrior and Crone and Smith … even the Stranger. They hung side by side with all manner of queer foreign gods: the Great Shepherd and the Black Goat, three-headed Trios and the Pale Child Bakkalon, the Lord of Light and the butterfly god of Naath.

>And there, swollen and green, half-devoured by crabs, the Drowned God festered with the rest, seawater still dripping from his hair. Then, Euron Crow’s Eye laughed again, and the priest woke screaming in the bowels of Silence, as piss ran down his leg.

TWOW sample chapter, the Forsaken

He would've legitimized Jon and had him marry Dany to keep the peace with the promise that like with Renly he'll call himself king but they'll be perpetual allies and their kids can marry each other like Dorne and the Targaryens did once.

>The dreams were even worse the second time. He saw the longships of the Ironborn adrift and burning on a boiling blood-red sea. He saw his brother on the Iron Throne again, but Euron was no longer human.
It’s the Iron Throne. Euron is going for the big prize

You can be a knight, just not a Kingsguard or a Nightswatchman

Doubt it. George seems like a writer committed to the story he's telling, even if he can't get up off his ass and finish the damn thing. I don't think his vision for the ending is all that malleable.

Kingsguard are usually the top knights of the realm so being too good at your job just gets you a lifelong post of standing outside the king's door while he porks his sister and you are never allowed to marry or hold lands.

Speaking of horns and the Wall, did they ever find the real Horn of Joramun? The horn Euron has supposedly controls dragons but the wall-breaking Horn is a different one. I was never sure why that one existed in the first place since it seems kind of pointless to spend all that time building the biggest wall ever just to make a magic horn that does nothing except destroy your work

Screencap this:
>Victarion sails to Mereen with a dragon horn, hoping to gain Dany's favor
>The dragon horn, Dragonbinder, was a gift from Euron
>Euron's gifts are poisoned
>Victarion will arrive at Mereen
>Euron will warg into one of the whore he gifted Victarion (possibly why he needs to travel to Oldtown, there are glass candles there)
>She will blow the horn and force Viserys under Euron's control
>Euron will remotely burn everything so Dany supposedly can't follow, and make Viserys come back to Westeros
>Euron will use Viserys to bring down the Wall and let the Others in
>He hopes that the slaughter will allow him to mantle Godhood, meanwhile the Others are hellbent on getting south fast enough to prevent the completion of his ritual
This is where Dany arrives in Westeros. Cersei has already been dealt with and Young Griff will be on the Iron Throne to greet her. Jon Snow will be revived and will have already taken back the North just in time to see the Wall break.

Screencap this post.

Are you fucking dumb? She's been doing ruthless, ill-advised shit from the jump. She's been rationalizing unfair, emotionally-driven, entitled, near-sighted, capricious, dumb-assery her entire fucking arc. And she's been seeing the tragic consequences since at least the incident with the shepherd's daughter. I know lots of normies (about half the ones i've heard talk about it) who mention her heel-turn wasn't surprising because "the show hinted she was a bad guy". You are dumber than a normie. Congrats.

the fact there was a battle at all at winterfell is retarded. There is zero reason for the Night King to even attack, just summon a storm and starve them out, they have 150,000 humans and horses to feed. Why even engage them? Just slow walk south while everything ahead of you freezes or starves

He mind controls the girl he gave to Victarion, and Victarion knows it.

Can you explain?

Did you forget how Tyrion and Varys spent an entire episode disgusted by how Daenerys dealt with the Tarlys?

Horn of Joramum is made up bullshit.

>muh blow this horn and the wall will fall
No. Unless that Wall has giants inside of it like WE WUZ ATTACK ON TITANS N SHIT, that horn is about waking giants.

"Rhaenyra's army" as a catchphrase is cringe, but he's gotten better at conveying the information effectively from the earlier videos, where he was more or less REEEEE-ing when Stannis died and rambling on other topics that don't matter like in the video about Cersei's show-only stillborn, with mealy-mouthed liberal talking points on whether Cersei deliberately aborting Robert's baby in the books was left out to keep it from polarising audience opinion against her or getting the show negative attention for what amounts in today's left-wing climate to an anti-abortion statement by having a clear villainness have a discretionary abortion to spite the father. Even though it happened in the books and was fairly clearly meant to show Cersei in a negative light.

When are they going to give us a Season 1 Special Edition with all GRRM dialogue replaced entirely with D&D OC?

in the books he's seduced by some westerland skank while he's high on milk of the poppy and just found out his dad died. He pops her cherry and marries her out of duty. He also kills Karstark which was the honorable thing to do but cost him half his army

Robb loses the war because he's honorable like Ned

That actually makes sense. Fuck, the freefolk are retarded

The first real clue the show gave was when she burned the Tarly's alive. Every single event before that, no matter how brutal, they depicted her in the right. The tone of the music, the crowds of people cheering for her. When she burned them alive, was the first time they used that kind of music score with her. Also all the flashbacks before the episode starts referencing that scene. Your stupid if you think there is a single time before that point that would give a clue she would end up villanized.

Post yfw the real ending is Dany riding the Dothraki and Wildlings North of the Wall forsaking her claim to the throne while carrying Jon's child

They want to kill the dragons using maester knowledge, right? Their whole origin story is that they were Valyrian slaves who revolted, it makes sense that they would still want to stop Valyrians from raising dragons and taking power even after all this time.

He makes way too many assumptions and often forms pretty extreme conclusions on the barest of threads of evidence to be taken seriously.

What they did to the Faceless Men in the show is a fucking disgrace.

It took them TWO YEARS, two FUCKING YEARS, to write and direct this season. Think about that for a second.

It's time to face facts, he's not making it out. The North is Stannis' grave. It's just a question of how much more dignified and logical his end will be in the books than in the show.

Also don't forget that despite being from the First Men and his oc wife being from Essos they decide to bless their marriage under the Sept of the 7 gods

not many, there's tons of examples of stuff like that where D&D don't understand subtle context and it completely changes how a character is portrayed

Robb storyline is just "young guy marries the wrong girl, breaking his vow"

but the context for the show and book is completely difference, in the show he looks like a selfish asshole who breaks his oath for a hot piece of ass, in the books it's understandable

Stannis wasn't rapidly character assassinated. Him burning Shireen made perfect sense with how he was presented in the show and in the books--driven and motivated to personal sacrifice at all cost taken its logical extreme: the sacrifice of his daughter. People weren't upset by "rapid character assassination" with Stannis. Stannis had been portrayed as eviler than in the books for most of the series by the time he burned his daughter.

It means he's a great actor.

the costume designers for the last 2 or 3 seasons need to be shot in the head, they look like they are at some high fashion show, not a fucking medieval fantasy period

GoT dialogues was always one of its most praised features.
Someone should compare that amount of talking scenes to the very first episode.
I guarantee you it would be the most effective indication of what happened to this show.

Book Stannis is an atheist

I’ve hated Stannis since the Cressen chapter in book two and I still thought that scene was bullshit. He needed a more compelling reason to burn her apart from “Red Lady said so”

*tips fedora*

Stannis won't burn Shireen. Stannis is currently separated from her by like a hundred miles. Melly is burning Shireen.

Yes, book and show Stannis aren't the same characters. I'm saying show Stannis wasn't "rapidly" character assassinated. Whether he was character assassinated can be fairly argued either way, but it wasn't rapid.

Attached: 1558465974761.jpg (585x723, 35K)

>Stannis won't burn Shireen.

Bingo

The problem is the writing floundered without GRRM’s input. Before, they could lift entire sections of book dialogue and write the spaces in between while remaining conscious of the intended tone. The characters in s8 speak like modern-day people because they lost that tone and can’t establish it without book conversations to lean on.

It didn't make perfect sense. Maybe if this scene right here was cut.

it's implied they are behind the doom, Valyrians were into some deep evil blood magic and sorcery.

Based on the recent Fire and Blood book it's implied that basically a portal to hell was opened in Valyria's mines. Seems like Faceless men assassinated their sorcerers and they lost control of whatever was containing shit

Finished by next year, will probably be out between late 2020 and mid 2021

This was to show that he actually cared about Shireen when it might not have been clear otherwise, so his sacrifice was brutal and deeply affected him, hence why he basically committed suicide in the battle against Ramsay.

Now post the one with him telling Mel pray harder.

George here, this.

>"I stopped believing in gods the day I saw the Windproud break up across the bay. Any gods so monstrous as to drown my mother and father would never have my worship, I vowed. In King’s Landing, the High Septon would prattle at me of how all justice and goodness flowed from the Seven, but all I ever saw of either was made by men."

Season 1 Dany was so cute

No, i'm sure of it. You're dumb. You literally can't distinguish between "clues" and foreshadowing and the actual heel-turn itself. Burning the fucking Tarlys was one of the last of a long string of obvious hints going back to the beginning... the shepherds daughter, the indiscriminate killing of the Masters, the public execution of that kid that earned her a stern hissing. Hell, the show explicitly -TOLD- you that her family is prone to homicidal madness. Did you name your daughter Khaleesi? You seem to be in deep denial either because you're just that invested in the character or you have to defend being this stupid. The ending sucked, but her turn to the dark side being "unexpected" or a late swerve is absolutely not one of the reasons...

Which retard could draw smth like that it's like directing gun in your face equivalent of medieval

why do you even watch any tv series if you don't like a bit of spectacle? Books are perfectly good if you only want information, but when it's adapted into live-action not everything will be dialogue, character thoughts, or descriptions of food

combined with Battle of the Bastards it was probably the biggest season ending and Winds of Winter was unusual for being a final episode with such a big event, but it's overrated. You just got memed on by the shitty unexpected piano music at the beginning, which they tried to basically recycle for The Long Night but it didn't work lol

TWOW had plenty of long-awaited moments like cersei blowing up the sept, jon's true parentage confirmed, dany setting sail for westeros, and frey pies, and it was all directed in a beautiful manner, and the great musical pieces were the icing on the cake
It was the best episode of the series

Would Arya killing the NK be more accepted if she was cute?

it's the ugly duckling trope

I can like spectacle as long as it doesn't insult my intelligence or break my suspension of disbelief

>insult my intelligence
can't insult what doesn't exist

>no argument
