This is what happens when you try to cross a comedy with a thriller with a drama. It isn't funny, it isn't thrilling, and it isn't dramatic.
I've never seen a bigger clusterfuck genre clash in all my kino watching days.

THIS ALL MAY BE TRUE, however the scene with all of them pissing on the pavement is kinó of the highest order.
If you think that's kino you should hang around Newcastle town centre on a friday/saturday night. You'll fucking die of kino.
it's a comedic art film pinpointing a specific time and place

Please for the love of God post webms of the aforementioned kino
what are people supposed to make of this
or the film
just what are you supposed to feel.
I'm asking because I have never watched another movie or clip for that matter where i don't feel any response. it's not funny, not interesting, not scary, not confusing, it doesn't make me feel good or bad. it's just like the epitome of 'time has passed.. so something happened, right?'
it's like usually if you said they let a junkie make a movie people would think it was kind of 'out there' or wacky or something. but i mean i say it and i mean in the sense of the people you see who are just kind of laughing to themselves over something and you say what's funny man and they kind of mumble something incoherent and laugh more.
it's like if that person was the source of this film but with other people around thinking this guy was a genius for some reason going - oh okay i think he said. bikinis?

I've never hated a movie more than I hated Spring Breakers. Absolute trash, not even qts in swimsuits as main characters could save it.
The movie is a cutting satire of hedonism and materialism as embodied most disgustingly in the American youth tradition of spring break. The vacuity of manufactured youth culture, lifestyle blackface, and criminal sociopathy are all highlighted and interchanged to great comedic effect. Notice that these themes are even reflected in the title. Spring, the time of renewal, of new life, of youth. Breakers, those who ruin and destroy. The film is ultimately about the tragedy that is the loss of innocence in a culture where American youth are little more than pieces of flesh on an assembly line. Anyone who mistakes this film for a shallow work of exploitation cinema needs to consider that its carefully crafted aesthetic and mis en scene is thoroughly ironic and the filmmaker is no doubt as disgusted by this grotesque spectacle as you (hopefully) are. The moral of the story is clear: get on a bus, there is only death here. Spring Breakers is one of the most thoroughly and fearlessly edifying films of this young century, and a fitting epitaph to American culture as a whole.
>this film came out 6 years ago
Shit where did the time go?
