I hate this meme because it goes against the whole idea of the Truman show. He isn't just some dude with cameras on him all the time; he's in a controlled environment. It's a fish tank. They'd never give him the internet, or if they did, it wouldn't have porn on it, or anything interesting enough to distract him for long. Look at how they handled guiding him away from wanting to travel, not just the elaborate trauma, but the consistent reinforcement from everything around him. Truman would never be allowed to spiral into a funk because his life is controlled perfection. It's not like he could ever have a week where nothing went right for him. If he felt uncomfortable and afraid of talking to people trying to sell them insurance, they'd just have every call he made be people who were thrilled and so happy to buy insurance from him that it wouldn't even last a morning. You look at the environment he's in, he's watching I Love Lucy on a small television. He probably doesn't even get movies, except for a special curated bunch.
