In the books Tywin is so afraid that Dorne will declare for Stannis after Gregor confessed that he had Pycelle try to heal Gregor so he could be properly executed. 1. Dorne declaring for Stannis and immediately invading and destroying the Reach, which is nearly undefended

2. Dorne declaring independence, invading and burning the reach and then retreating into the mountains and coasts of Dorne to fight a guerilla war.
