The new Spider-man movies suck

This newest spider-man series of movies is shit from start to finish, hear me out:

> No Uncle Ben (therefore, no initial motivation for he to even start being spiderman on the first place);

> Spider-man is now Iron Man's Robin. They don't even have much to do with each other in the comics, let alone Iron Man being a sort of father figure for him. Spider-man has always been mostly a loner in his adventures, there's no sense for him to start being taken by a multibillionaire as a son... the dude even gave him a fucking hi-tech spider suit;

> Aunt May is a MILF, instead of a fragile old lady. This takes away some drama and conflict from the character, which no longers does his best to protect her from knowing about the truth and his enemies;

> Secondary characters either completely unecessary or completely changed (Mary Jane with a completely different personality and appearance, that fat dude that they literally introduced outta nowhere, etc);

> Irreversible vinculation of Spider-man with the Avengers. This connects with complaint number 2;

I mean, is this character cursed? Why the hell can't they do it right? They always make some gross mistakes... I honestly wished the movies got rebooted (YET AGAIN), but i know it won't, since, well, it's Disney.

I wouldn't mind if they changed his name to something other than Peter Parker, but since they insist on calling him that, i can't help but feel like they're making a mess of a very well stabilished character.

What do you guys think about it?

spiderman is a side character now

>No Uncle Ben (therefore, no initial motivation for he to even start being spiderman on the first place);
uncle ben still happened you fucking retard
tells tony about why he becomes hero
>when the bad things happen and you don't do anything to stop it
tells Ned
>all the things that aunt may has been through

Am I the only one who actually enjoyed the reboot with Andrew Garfield

just wait for the next movie where he'll reveal his identity to the whole world

Disney? You mean Sony. Sony lends Spiderman out to Disney. Also you are wrong on all fronts.

Would have been Kino if they brought back Maguire's or Garfield's Spider-Man.

Only in retrospect can I say this, but yeah, it was honestly based. ASM 2 especially. Not having Jameson was their only mistake.

which is a repeated mistake in Iron Man Jr.

Was it kino?

Op they did this because in the past 15 years eveyone has seen fuckin spiderman either maguire or garfield everyone knows the damn story no one wants to sit there for an hour and a half to watch a dumb nerd get bit by a spider, find his powers watch his uncle die fight a low tier villain and kiss mj.
Skipping all of that was a great decision it would have been fucking boring watching a remake of the exact same thing for a THIRD time. The other changes they make (aunt may being hot, mj being mixed) doesnt change the overall story and role those characters fulfill
>But aunt may shouldnt know hes spidey and why is ned there?
Because what works in a comic book doesnt always work in what is a semi realistic universe. Peter would have a close friend and he wouldnt be able to hide something from this from his sole caretaker, its unrealistic to think that somethings up.
>ironmans robin
Ironmans fuckin dead bro, spideys gonna go solo or take over as tonys role.

Oh Christ. How many times do you need to see old Ben & May die? And being so old is weird, how are they teenage Peter’s Uncle and Aunt? Aunt May was like a weird old American trope in Raimi’s version, farting out old lady wisdom in every damn scene. Unrealistic and schlocky. May and Ben ARE included in the new version however, so right away you’re wrong.

The accusations of being Iron Man’s Robin are dismissed easily if you actually watch the first film. IM is the head of the Avengers, so he’s a mentor of sorts when Peter can be useful, but it’s nothing like Batman and Robin’s set up.

The only flaw in these films is the shitty casting of MJ and Liz. Zendaya can’t act for shit, is unattractive, her woke character is insufferable. Liz is just meh, and acts like a white It girl, so what is the fucking point of race erasure?

I swear Aas Butterfield or one of Holland’s stalkers is making all the anti Spider-Man/Tom Holland threads. Same old ground over and over...

It was good, the sequel was so SHIT. It completely ruined people's image on the first one, but there could've really been something there. And it absolutely FEELS like a cape movie

This.

Marvel knows how to properly subvert expectations.

Tom Holland is the closest to the Spider-Man in the comics.

>Spider Man can pick up Cap's shield

What the fuck is this bullshit? Consistency out the fucking window???

Agreed. If they wanted to change spider-man's story this much they should have just introduced Miles instead.

I think it's just the fact that this high school Peter rendition is so dependent on bouncing off of Iron Man. When you had his other versions of teenage peter doing his own thing. Homecoming's point was to make him be a bit more mature and rely less on Iron Man, and honestly a3 and a4 stomps on it.

I mean Homecoming sucked, so what did you expect?

This whole version of Spider-man sucks outside of giving device for Tony's story, and since he's dead now has no purpose for existing.

They had to get weird with the character because Raimi unironically nailed the character and his origin is about as close to the comics as you could get, even now. Follow that with the fatigue caused by the 2 Amazing films and Marvel had no choice but reinvent the character. But at the same time they slapped on Peter Parker's name because of brand recognition.

They should've had the balls to give this guy a new name or base him off a new character. Spider-verse is way more interesting and that focuses on one of the least interesting versions of Spider-man. Marvel could've found something new in their history, or fuck it, brand new character.

Tom Holland's Spider-man is so annoyingly overenthusiastic and quippy, I just want to curbstomp him

Attached: t. maguire.jpg (960x1347, 177K)

Kinda wish we had Daredevil now instead of spiderman in civil war. But they'd find a way to ruin him. So know what they shouldve done

>t. fags who never read a comic

>Tom Holland is the closest to the Spider-Man in the comics.
I see this bullshit all the time from faggots who have very obviously never read a single Spider-Man comic, it's hilarious how much MCUdrones parrot something they heard 1 uninformed retard say.

Spidey is quippy as fuck in the comics

It's shit. Even if you say that they don't need to show the origin story and all, there are some aspects that are crucial for the character. No uncle ben is like making batman without... i dunno, alfred.

the posters are top notch though

Attached: spider-man-far-from-home-latest-posters-1.jpg (638x800, 258K)

Spiderman homecoming: peter is attracted to one nigger, nothing happens between them. barely registers the second nigger with 2 minutes of screen time

spiderman ffh: peter is now in love with the second ratchet nigger with bratty attitude he barely interacted in previous film

they made the only hot character a nigger that looks like it smells like shit, dirty hair/face, messy hair, breath like a cavern - a shitty nigger know it all hermione granger
they also want to sell the image that the gay actor and the nigger "actor" are dating in real life (like all the previous spidermen and their love interests) promoting things like tomdaya and couple goals
watched this new tv spot and he's embracing that nigger and giving it jewellery wtf the romance happened "off screen" .

This.

Tom Holland legitimately has the single most punchable, annoying fucking face I've ever seen. They somehow hired someone more punchable than Andrew Garfield, it's honestly impressive.

the new spidermans are the best by far actually
>high school kid so get teen drama and fun
>he's motivated by youthful idealism instead of family tragedy
>pretty girls
>tom holland is cute and not in a gross andrew garfield way

>no uncle ben
90% of the current movie goers already know the origin story so why do you retards keep trying to waste the whole first movie on it every fucking time

Is this real? Looks atrocious.

The argument you use is the one everyone uses and it’s fucking retarded. You’re rebooting a character, it doesn’t matter how well established the character is, not showing the characters initial origin and motivation is bad writing and was only done because they wanted to shoehorn him into Civil War to get more people in the theaters. What’s gonna happen when a 5 year old watches Spiderman without seeing any of the other movies? They’re gonna miss out on a key aspect of the character. What if instead of showing us Tony escaping from the cave and building the first suit, they just passively mention it?

Hes actually a fucking kid too, if a kid looking like him bumped into me in a hallway in highschool id deck his ass

Because, retard, the character NEEDS elements that make him what he is. Fucking Uncle Ben is CRUCIAL to spiderman being spiderman.

Shit, at least make something to replace it, if you have the mental deficiency to screw a vital point of the character just like that.

They wouldnt do that for iron man its a semi original origin story that hasnt had 3 adaptations within 15 years.
5 year olds arent nearly as critical as you think lmao theyd eat this shit up everyone else with half a brain doesnt wanna see a movie of the exact sane thing, while i personally mightve watched a tom holland spiderman most wouldnt. This is a perfectly valid reason user even if you disagree

why would a 5 year old care. they just look at the screen and think "that's spiderman"

This misses the whole point of the character. Peter Parker was an outcast because he had a harder life than a lot of the other kids at his school. The whole crux of Spiderman is that he sees his powers as a curse that only gives him more responsibility for others. He’s not supposed to be some happy go lucky guy, at most he quips while he’s in character. Read any of the early comics and almost all of them have a dilemma of Peter not wanting to be Spiderman.

this poster looks like absolute dogshit though?

>B-but its not le ebin dark edgy spiderman!
Fuck off comic book nerd some people like having fun.

i don't really care desu they changed the character and it worked

5 year olds was an example, just think of anyone who hasn’t seen Spiderman going into the theater. Regardless, nearly every adaptation of Peter Parker has reacted to Uncle Bens death in a different way which defines their character. Rami had Spiderman follow the comics and use that as a signal to fight crime responsibly, Garfield goes on a rampage looking for the guy who killed Ben, etc. Uncle Bens death isn’t a matter of “been there done that” it’s a matter of losing out on character development that leads to Holland feeling like a bland factory made character, who’s written to be quirky and cute on the surface.

Gwen dying was a more impactful death than anything in the mcu

1. Spider man has been around for 60 years. We all know his back story. We don't need to see it.

2. Who cares? Makes more sense this way than a high schooler creating revolutionary scientific marvels of engineering in a night in his bedroom with regular household objects.

3. Who cares? Aunt May, hot or not, is still unsafe from superpowered foes.

4. What was the purpose of side characters in the original? Nothing really. Spider Man was a nerd who eventually got the hot redhead. So what? Now he has a hot black chick because inner city Queens, New York is no longer 95% white like it was in 1961.

4. Wat

lmao it was so poorly done, fuck off faggot

In the first one he spends his time starting out as spiderman trying to find and kill the guy that shot uncle ben, even stopping robberies only to let the guy go and finish robbing the person once he finds out they aren't the guy he's looking for. The tryhard ass scene where he's skateboarding, on top of the fact that they made Peter not into a nerd but a Kohls catalogue model. The AWFUL improv with Emma Stone because they were dating at the time. The plot with his parents is shit, the lizard is shit, the suit looks terrible, he leaves a camera with his name on it in the sewers rigged to take photos with the flash on so the villain finds it and discovers his secret identity. Everything about ASM1 sucks ass, the second one just sucks way harder

The new movies are way more comic accurate than anything else we've had.
Except for based chink spider man

> No Uncle Ben (therefore, no initial motivation for he to even start being spiderman on the first place);
Did you miss the scene where they tried as hard as possible not to say "With great power"? Did you not understand the purpose was to tell you in very short form "Yes, he has the usual origin, we're not going to waste your fucking time retelling it for the third time in 15 years"?
> Spider-man is now Iron Man's Robin. They don't even have much to do with each other in the comics, let alone Iron Man being a sort of father figure for him. Spider-man has always been mostly a loner in his adventures, there's no sense for him to start being taken by a multibillionaire as a son... the dude even gave him a fucking hi-tech spider suit;
Literally nothing wrong with any of that. It makes perfect sense.
> Aunt May is a MILF, instead of a fragile old lady. This takes away some drama and conflict from the character, which no longers does his best to protect her from knowing about the truth and his enemies;
True.
>> Secondary characters either completely unecessary or completely changed (Mary Jane with a completely different personality and appearance, that fat dude that they literally introduced outta nowhere, etc);
She's not Mary Jane, she's a new character with initials chosen to reference a classic character. Nothing wrong with having a different supporting cast at all.
> Irreversible vinculation of Spider-man with the Avengers. This connects with complaint number 2;
Literally nothing wrong with this. Your complaints on the whole are incredibly stupid and make zero sense, and given your failure to understand the origin story situation, I think you might be borderline braindead.

What is he pointing at?

>they changed the character and it worked
Wrong. They changed the character and it became another character. It didnt work though

1. I can agree with that.
2. Agree.
3. Maybe.
4. Yup.
5. Maybe.

I will always prefer Maguires spiderman and same with all the enemies. Garfield was shit i thought and holland im mixed about.

Would have been great to introduce Spiderman with Maguire playing the role x amount of years after the original trilogy showing a more grown up Spiderman having to deal with both sides of life and then being thrust into the middle of a shitstorm really being the first Avengers since it takes fucking place in NY where essentially he just rocks up because his turf or even perhaps helps out but not an introduction as sorts.

>literally nothing wrong with that. It makes perfect sense.

Superhero stories aren't about what "makes sense", idiot. It completely undermines the character and turns him into essentially an OC. I think of MCU Spidey more as an RPG protagonist in the MCU universe, he's just generic hero boy who does what others tell him to. Hell, even in Far From Home he's now taking orders from Nick fucking Fury, the government. This is Spider-Man; the guy with hardly a dollar to his name because he has to keep his identity a secret to protect the people he cares about and elude the media which slander him as a villain.

MCU Spidey is likeable and his movies are decent but he's an entirely different, new character

Other than Zendaya, Homecoming was great. OP is a fag of the highest order.

>Same as comics or other movies GOOD
>Different from comics or other movies BAD
Nice "criticism" OP

That's no the point. The point is staying true to the spirit of the character. Removing essential elements destroys the character.

I know, it amuses me. I really enjoy watching multi-million dollar efforts fail. Like the cartoon splat sound effects at the end of the Terminator trailer.

I don't like how his arc is being Tony's son. They met like three times in total

yeah...it's real. it's so shitty, my brain keeps adding stock photo watermarks.

As it was said already, Uncle Ben still happened, it wasn't removed dumbass
Aunt May's age and the secondary cast have nothing too do with the character itself either

Kinos

If your only complaint is “it’s not like the comics!” then you can fuck off. I’m glad superhero movies are finally moving away from reexplaining their origin story every 5 goddamn years.

We're talking about a movie with a beginning, a middle and an end here. It's not discussed in his own movie, and while it is a background detail; compare that to the Uncle Ben scene from the original Spider-Man movie, which informs us of the motivation behind the character's conviction. There isn't even anything comparable with the MCU Spider-Man.

There's no focus on uncle ben, no drama in the character development. It makes it look like it doesn't matter as much as he being part of the avengers. Like someone else said, they made him into a fucking secondary character, by not acknowledging the very basics of the character properly.

Mark webb was so hilariously inept

>Isn't that the question of the day?

Attached: what wrong with your faaaace.jpg (851x360, 47K)

They just removed anything that lent the character any gravitas and made it so that everything is handed to him on a silver platter. Oh, i'm glad you like your thoughtless, generic, Adventures of Iron-Lad spinoff movies though

Thank you, it's exactly my complaint. I really don't get how people can't see it. They made him into iron man's sidekick, totally disrespectful for the character.

I think a big problem is that these new movies have no idea how to bring back the Daily Bugle into their movies. Peter Parker needs to be working some kind of job and interacting with the adult working world in some way. In the comics, he took up photography for the Daily Bugle so he could pick up the slack that Uncle Ben left on the family finances when he was murdered so Aunt May could afford her "I'm-so-old-I-could-damn- die" pills. Peter had adult responsibilities and pressures to worry about by becoming the breadwinner of the family, he had people that needed to be taken care of.
Making Spider-man a protégé of the richest guy in the MCU was a mistake, he needs to struggle in his daily life just as much as when he is fighting the Scorpion.
I understand the argument of "but x already happened in those other movies, don't you want something new?", but that only goes so far before you start throwing out what makes the character interesting. It's fine to be different but the MCU Spider-man just isn't Spider-man to me, just Danny Phantom with a spider theme. I prefer Raimi's Struggle-man

They made Tony his sugar daddy, of course Peter sucked his dick and now he inherits half his fortune, can create advanced suits, take vacations in Europe with not a single worry in the world. Spider-man has to be poor, with a shitty job and sucking dicks on the side to make ends meet. Now we have to wait 5 years for Morales.

tldr: they made Pete a sugar baby

That, too. Peter is too much of a child on this one, they should make him a bit more adult, capable of aiding the house financially.

MCU Peter will never need to work a day in his life if Aunt May can marry into the Stark extended family. Wonder what kind of benefits Peter would get with having Stark Industries' Head of Security and former bodyguard/lapdog to Daddy Iron Warbucks himself?

Attached: Leave the Parker finances to me.jpg (474x301, 15K)

*as his new step dad

Tony Stark gave Peter anal warts. Now he's a billionare

They omitted Uncle Ben because Sony wouldn't let Disney use him. They are saving him for the Uncle Ben movie that they are planning to make.

Honestly, knowing now how much the studio tried to sabotage it, I’ll say yeah. Based Raimi still managed to make it watchable.
