Toyo, the emperor of Japan who lead their empire against the evil of the United States.

quick rundown on death stranding pls

He was good in uh spirited away

no

Right

this guy looks like he's trying to convince you of something but not accomplishing it

He's telling you to have sex.

Absolutely not. What has he done anyway? Tell a team of actually talented people vaguely what to do? This is an eccentric businessman, not an artist.

As someone who has never watched anime or cares about it, is it worth a watch? 6.4 IMDB score which means it probably isn't extremely terrible, then again I've watched amazing movies with a 6-7 score and shit ones with 7-8. Lots of negative reviews, but there is no way to tell how much of it are seething weebs.

i wont let you have your way, i'll never have sex

He's an ideas guy, he's the one that tells coders what to do.
One part can't exist without the other.
An aimless coder is useless, much like an ideas guy without workers.

The anime is fucking terrible feminist bullshit, watch Akira.

I was joking around but I actually enjoyed the movie for how much people like to shit on it. Visually it looked pretty good and the story wasn't that bad, but I haven't watched since it came out. It would probably be an overall okay watch if you're not too familiar with the anime. I did feel like overall there was a key part missing that would have brought it all together, but give it a shot nonetheless

They should be paid the same amount then.

no actual gameplay footage, just walking.

Who cares?

Watch this and tell me Kojima isn’t a genius

Not really.
The idea of the game is what decides if it's going to be a success or not.
Coders are code monkeys, they are easily replaceable, but ideas that sell are not.

in terms of video games, yes. there's nobody else in that garbage industry as visionary and talented as Kojima. I don't think he compares as well to actual directors like Snyder though

>The idea of the game is what decides if it's going to be a success or not.
You've never worked in the video game industry.

You are in a Kojima thread, which means you not only don't work in the industry, but you are the people who know the least about how game development works.
The fact that you think code monkeys should be paid more proves that.

But that's the truth.
The idea a game is built around, that idea being appealing is what makes a game succeed.
If your idea is shit and boring, the game will fail.

It's like pic related with Norman Reedus.
Looks pretty dull due to sci-fi oversaturation as of late.

I've worked in multiple studios for about ten years now. The idea of the game isn't what makes it profitable aside from some VERY rare instances (like Minecraft). Investors don't trust innovation, they need to know they'll make money, so they go with what they know. Kojima hasn't created anything new aside from throwing crazy money into the production budget to make his games look like movies.

I haven't said that Kojima innovates, just that people like the ideas he sells.
A coder by itself can't do much, because his job is coding and following orders, not being a creative.

Would you pay cameramen the same as a director in a movie?

No his shit is cringe.

>I've worked in multiple studios for about ten years now.
And yet you had to ask what a game director does?

Considering his most famous creation is basically a shitty, overly expository anime (with equally shitty controls), I'd say no.

Well, he triggers the fuck out of Yea Forums incels, so he would probably do fine.

There's plenty of creative programmers out there. They just aren't after fame or your shallow definition of creativity. Personally programming makes me sick but how someone codes influences the creative process a whole lot. You can make a game fail with shit programming even if your idea seems so interesting.
>Would you pay cameramen the same as a director in a movie?
No but the cinematographer and editor should. There's a lot of movie shots I see attributed to the director when it's in fact not.

Maybe American games don't have directors anymore.

>Maybe American games don't have directors anymore.
But they do.

What the fuck is a video game director? I've worked with game designer. Directors and producers? They don't even show up in the studio.

>No but the cinematographer and editor should.
No they shouldn't.
In fact, all workers in entertainment media should be paid much less.
Game development and movie making aren't real jobs anyway.

Hey, at least something we can agree on.

Only people who cant achieve something in the film industry starting career making games
