>The title of this prequel series is " Empire of Ash " >It is about the events leading up to the Doom of Valyria: the massive volcanic super-eruption which destroyed the Valyrian Freehold in a single day >It is also the story of the origins of House Targaryen, a minor family of dragon-lords in old Valyria who rose to prominence by fleeing to Westeros just before the Doom - leaving them with the world's only living dragons >This story centers on the decline and fall of Valyria, a colonial empire which ruled half of the known world at its height >It reveals the social, economic, and political crises which tore apart the empire from within
better than what I was expecting to be honest. Still not gonna watch.
Benjamin Mitchell
>30 episodes of Stannis sitting in Dragonstone seething
William Allen
>A major focus of this prequel is on diversity, as it deals with issues of immigration, naturalization, and cultural identity - all within a multi-ethnic democratic state. The central conflict that kicks off the series is, "what does it mean to be 'Valyrian', and who gets to share in that power and prestige?" >According to its summary documents, this story addresses themes of a free republic in decline, the fallout of military and cultural imperialism, colonialism, immigration, and racial diversity. >Something like a third to a half of the cast are non-white characters - multiple members of the primary cast. It explicitly instructs this in their casting sheets. >This also extends to diversity of female and LGBT characters, several of whom are also core cast members. >Something like a third to a half of this prequel series is actually set in Sothoryos, George R.R. Martin's fantasy version of Africa, mentioned in ASOIAF and The World of Ice and Fire. Sothoryos and Valyria are the two big axes around which the show revolves: the tension between the capital city and its provinces. >The capital of Sothoryos, one of the major settings of the action, is conceptually supposed to be "Roman North Africa", a mix of Carthage and Constantinople, a major port city with a multi-racial society. Looking at a map, I would guess pre-Doom Zamettar. >Thus, most of the characters there are "non-white": according to the casting calls, they're looking for variously African, Asian, other groups (it's a very mixed, "melting pot" port city). >One of the main characters, a POV core cast member, is a platinum blonde black female dragon-rider - one of her parents was a white Valyrian, the other a foreigner, leading some to deny that she's a "real" Valyrian. >One of the other main characters is a self-made former slave, a deceptively matronly-looking Asian woman in her 50s, that's now not only one of the richest citizens but also a major political leader and government intrigue-player.
If they built their city next to a volcano they deserved to be destroyed
Oliver Rivera
Not just one volcano, 14 of them
Hunter Myers
Why don't they just do Robert's Rebellion, Dance of the Dragons and the Reyne rebellion????
Fuck Essos.
Angel Peterson
they dumb lmao
Jonathan Morgan
>Sothoryos men are described as brindle-skinned half-men by Daenerys Targaryen. >Their brindled skin is thick, often in patterns of brown and white. >They are big-boned and massively muscled, with long arms, sloped foreheads, huge square teeth, heavy jaws and coarse black hair. Their broad, flat noses suggest snouts. >Sothoryi women are said to be unable to breed with men from Essos or Westeros, only bringing forth stillbirths or malformed offspring Based, a series where the niggers will look like the apes they are and mixed race offspring die
Austin Phillips
>We're not doing Robert's Rebellion either. I know thousands of you want that, I know there's a petition... but by the time I finish writing A SONG OF ICE & FIRE, you will know every important thing that happened in Robert's Rebellion. There would be no surprises or revelations left in such a show, just the acting out of conflicts whose resolutions you already know. That's not a story I want to tell just now; it would feel too much like a twice-told tale.
Kayden Butler
Literally impossible. Valyria is a hyper advanced all white, and by white I mean high elf looking dragonblood white, society where slavery is normal and common; therefore, the setting can't be handled in a politically correct way.
>One of the main characters, a POV core cast member, is a platinum blonde black female dragon-rider - one of her parents was a white Valyrian, the other a foreigner, leading some to deny that she's a "real" Valyrian. That's it. Not even watching one episode
He let his baby and magnum opus be raped, at this point he's in a resigned state where he'll allow anything as long as the money keeps coming in and he doesn't have to finish the books
Chase Wilson
I honestly didn’t realize second from left top row is a woman
Leo Brown
Fuck this, this isn't even possible
Josiah Thomas
It was a system of 40 families controlling all affairs of state and everyone else can suck eggs and fuck off, it's hardly what I'd call a free republic
Samuel Sanchez
WE WUZ ROMANS/GREEKS AND SHIET
Easton Reed
I think he'll croak and sjws will take over the entire setting and shit on it and praise Ghiscar more than Valyria
Zachary Bell
Not impossible if you portray the Valyrian's of old as literal magical dragon riding nazis. It's okay to have an all white Valyrian cast provided they're evil, maniacal, slaving whiteoids. Works doubly well here since it's strongly suggested that the slaves somehow triggered the Thirteen Fires eruption/the Doom. Darkies bringing about the destruction of an all white nazi empire? That'll work.
Alexander Harris
Platinum blonde black dragon rider is the most retarded shit I have seen today
>Pre racial society This is an American Psuedohistorical meme.
Joshua Reyes
People and Culture Valyrians are famous for having silver-gold hair and violet-purple eyes, characteristics not found amongst any other peoples of the world. This can vary from white to silver-gold to blond hair, and from lilac, to deep purple, and pale blue eyes. The most noble of Valyrians were considered strikingly, some say inhumanly, beautiful. The Valyrian nobility valued purity of blood. Therefore, the practice of incest was common in old Valyria, as the Valyrians would customarily wed brother to sister. These practices were not limited to the Freehold; on Dragonstone the Targaryens continued to practice incestuous marriage and polygamy to keep the dragon bloodline pure.
Governance The Freehold of Valyria at the zenith of its power was neither a kingdom nor an empire, or at least it had neither a king nor an emperor. Instead, all freeholders, or freeborn landowners, had a say in its governance. In practice, however, the Freehold was ruled by the lords freeholder, powerful noble families. They were forty families of great wealth, high birth, and strong sorcerous ability, those families which controlled and rode dragons in battle, who came to dominate, were known as dragonlords. The Targaryens were one of these dragon houses.
Slavery One practice the Valyrians adopted from their wars with the Old Empire of Ghis was slavery. The Valyrians used thousands of slaves from across the continent in the blisteringly hot mines underneath the Fourteen Flames to find gold and silver. Slave revolts were common in the mines, but the Valyrians were strong in sorcery and were able to put them down. When there was war, the Valyrians took thousands of slaves, and when there was peace they bred them. As the power of the Freehold grew, so did its hunger for ore, and the dragonlords led many conquests to keep the mines full with slaves. It is said so many perished, toiling in the Valyrian mines, that the number was so large as to surely defy comprehension.
Guaranteed the mother is a blonde, blue-eyed valyrian and the father an ape
Luke Hill
They've cast Naomi Watts and John Simms. Frankly who gives a shit about the rest of the cast.
Hunter Bell
NOBODY GIVES A FUCK, GAME OF THRONES IS OVER GO BACK TO R EDDIT
Isaiah Cook
>we’re making a show with a diverse cast of BLACKED.com relationships, fags, trannies, and oppression to the w*ites; but the finale of all of this is the complete destruction of this society by divine intervention
fucking boring, will only get the turboautist lorefag audience and will get cancelled after 1 or 2 seasons >robert's rebellion >dunk & egg either would've been a license to print money, fucking retards going for some boring krypton shit
Bullshit. They announced a prequel set during the long night. They barely had cash to animate one dragon, let alone hundreds.
Ryan White
>culture obsessed with blood purity to the point of incest >WE WUZ RACEMIXERS AND DRAGONRIDERS AND SHIIIEIT I hate /pol/ usually but jesus christ what a forced mess. Not watching this.
Michael Sanders
>dragons killed by a volcanic eruption so fire immune flying creatures are somehow vulnerable to an eruption?
Benjamin Rodriguez
>it’s another woke criticism of the US ham fisted into fantasy
Jeremiah Sullivan
>all within a multi-ethnic democratic state So while multi-ethnic, it was in no way democratic. It was dominated by pureblood Valyrian supremacists. >The central conflict that kicks off the series is, "what does it mean to be 'Valyrian', and who gets to share in that power and prestige?" I mean, it's pretty clear what does it mean to be a Valyrian. Even after the Doom of Valyria, remaining Targs, who called themselves blood of Old Valyria, still practiced their supremacist traditions... There are also some descendants in Volantis, and they are just like that, too.
Justin Thompson
>immigration and racemixing will bring about the complete and utter destruction of your country secretly redpilled show?
Easton Hall
>Empire of Ash, current year politics SJW fest FYI, this is real but was actually rejected by HBO, thank Christ.
Isaiah Hall
Dumb normies
Brody Taylor
>Lets get all offended even though OP hasn't posted a single source
Andrew Davis
They aren't immune to heat user, they just have really high tolerance
Tyler Scott
would unironically make more sense for them to do an arya spin off exploring all of the nigger countries that aren't in the show
Chase Ramirez
Magma is too too hot! >youch!
Leo Jackson
Those were parts of the big leak a few weeks back, it's real. Though they've now said that they wanted to slow down on the GOT spin-off so maybe it's one of the cut ones
Christopher Peterson
It comes from the administrator of a GOT fan wiki who claims be got it from a super secret "insider" . Not legit in the slightest.
Bentley Barnes
The Long Night spinoff (which is what the cast image is of) is still in production. Get ready for we wuz Lannistas n shiet.
Kevin Butler
>The term "white race" or "white people" entered the major European languages in the later 17th century, in the context of racialized slavery and unequal social status in the European colonies. Description of populations as "white" in reference to their skin color predates this notion and is occasionally found in Greco-Roman ethnography and other ancient or medieval sources, but these societies did not have any notion of a white, pan-European race. Scholarship on race distinguishes the modern concept from pre-modern descriptions, which focused on physical complexion rather than race.
Oliver Robinson
How are the first men black? Aren't black people limited to the summer isles?
Brody Russell
>the world's only living dragons The Targs just had the last domesticated ones. They lived wild in other places but eventually all faded away around Westeros. Legends persisted of them elsewhere though fuck knows if there was substance to that.
>Pan-Europeanism didn’t exist so that means race is a modern concept
Grayson Anderson
Summer Isles and some of the Basilisk Isles.
Isaac Harris
Are the black actors playing the COTF? Makes no sense otherwise since the First Men were all white. That has been established even in the show. The only African levels of blackness people in the world are the Summer Islanders and they supposedly very rarely venture beyond their islands. Wouldnt make sense to have a bunch of them in Westeros, especially back then.
Connor Evans
A wave of various men arrived in Westeros and only the white ones survive
Carson Cooper
>Something like a third to a half of this prequel series is actually set in Sothoryos, George R.R. Martin's fantasy version of Africa It's a shithole populated by literal monkey people, so I guess it would be this worlds Africa.
Nolan Perry
The ancient world didn't have the concept of a 'white race' or 'people of color', they grouped people into ethnos/natio based on common descent
Gabriel Fisher
And? This doesn’t somehow negate that ethnicity has always been a concept. The way your position is framed is done in such a way that it paints an egalitarian narrative
Kevin Brooks
What are you even trying to say with this?
Grayson Anderson
I'm fucking tired of Targs goddamit
John Young
they probably will only be playing the cotf, if they make them look anything like the GoT version they will also be covered head to toe in makeup
Mason Williams
>they supposedly very rarely venture beyond their islands That part is never stated and we see a few of them in the books
Evan Bell
So you don't have to be good looking to be an actor anymore? Does that mean I can do it?
Isaiah Jenkins
>its another targs fucking shits when will the other side of the world get noticed? sothoryos fucking when? cannibal bay when?
Kayden Fisher
Can you imagine anything duller than a story about the fucking white walkers when they've already been shown to get rekt by a teenager with a dagger?
Simple test to find out for anything going forward: is it held in any level of positive esteem in the minds of people? If yes-we wuz, if no-wait until it's more well known then retake the test.
Hunter Lopez
Sounds stupid as the entire appeal of GoT was not knowing who was going to win the game. Why watch a show where all the drama falls flat because you know a volcano kills everyone in thw end except the Targaryans. Fucking pointless .
Robert Jackson
>the fallout of immigration and racial diversity B&RP
Gabriel Butler
>because you know a volcano kills everyone in thw end except the Targaryans There's always Aurion
Nathan Powell
That the issue of 'racial diversity' is anachronistic in ancient civilizations, it's projecting modern American racial issues onto the past
Nolan White
Who actually enjoy these types of political propaganda?
>Pro immigration people will all be nice and honest, immigrants will be doctors and nurses >anti immigration people will all be dick heads, fanatical and selfish
Wow my beliefs are reaffirmed by these fictional characters in a fictional world :-)
Charles Richardson
>Valyrians were just Egyptians, but lived near a volcano, lava and magma, and had 100% BLACK stuff and shit >also dragons because they're literal destruction machines >Dragons were very likely to be at the height of their power in their 150s, since the average dragon dying from old age is around 300 >Thanks to dragons, and the volcano, they were also practitioners of magic, and were the only ones who could make a unique kind of enchanted metal, Valyrian steel, with black swirls on the surface akin to blackened rivers or streams >fucking idiots almost got killed to extinction by the volcano erupting
Not worth the risk I say.
Parker Kelly
So. Fucking shit it will be...
Jeremiah Williams
You mean Stannis SEQUEL, he’s not dead there’s still the other whitch alive
Carter Lee
Carthage absolutely was
Alexander Edwards
Fall of Valyria is shrouded in mystery and should remain so
Christian Allen
Most of them were second class citizens at best tho.
Nathaniel Long
The same can be said of Detroit
Matthew Long
To be fair they were fire magic users, had mastery over dragons, and worshipped fire gods.
Parker Bell
I just dont see how such a series would be viable for anything other than a miniseries. I mean animating 3 dragons was such a money sink to HBO that things like slightly larger cgi wolves, elephants, mammoths, giants, undead animals, and ice spiders all suffered little screen time if not written out entirely.
Brandon Rivera
prove it
Brandon Scott
Fat fuck GRRM can’t realize all we want to see is based boomer Bobby B beat some Targaryen ass and act like a total chad the whole time talking shit on everyone. You’ll give us invincible goblin Arya but though... go fuck your self
Jason Brown
Officially pozzed. Won’t watch a single episode.
Brandon Collins
Pretty sure they've said there will be no dragons in it.
Brandon Sullivan
it's fucking retarded because george addressed that exact problem
Jayden Rivera
So first men will be niggers now?
Nathaniel Wilson
Source: ASS
Now fuck off
Jonathan Wood
>Make show about Valyria >Make one of the characters a dragon rider >No dragons Now THIS is subverting expectations, take note studios
Brandon Martinez
If they did a series about old Valeryia you have to have dragons in it, it's like doing an episode on the island of narrth and not showing butterflies or doing a basilisk isles series and never have anyone run into a pissed off basilisk
Jace Campbell
That’s the cast for the Age of Heroes show
Justin Ortiz
They aren't doing a series set in old valyria. OP's post and all info about the supposed Empire of Ash prequel are fake news. See
Nicholas Diaz
That's even worse
Jack Diaz
Why are there so many black people?
Easton Roberts
Nah he's right, fuck the room temp IQ mouthbreather that that just want fanservice
Ethan Gomez
According to this a race of people who were so obsessed with racial purity they fucked their sisters are openly mixing with foreigners?
Matthew Gonzalez
Empire of Ash sounds way more interesting than The Long Night desu.
I'm just concerned that they're developing several spin-offs. Like just focus on one and make it as good as possible please.
Christopher Bailey
I really don't think there are any good ideas for prequels. The Targ conflicts like the Dance and Blackfyre are interesting to read about but all come down to similar looking people on both sides killing each other. White Walker prequel is just backstory for Arya's epic no scope kill. Valyria is too expensive to do. Roberts Rebellion has already had its climax shown on screen with Tower of Joy.
They needed to make GoT run for 12 seasons and fire any writers or actors who wanted to move on and recast them as needed.
Josiah Adams
It was clearly a slave revolt that caused the Doom of Valyria.
Lincoln Wood
Dunk and Egg
Hunter Russell
Of fucking course.
Who would expect want to children in a medieval setting.
That was GRRM's pitch and it got shot down according to him. It doesn't really fit HBO's style to have a lighthearted show with a little kid as a protagonist. And to appreciate it you need to know the history from other sources. Like Bloodraven showing up as the climax of the third book would just make showwatchers go "Who? What's a Blackfyre?"
So an entire television show is just bait?. They are gonna spend millions of dollars just to troll people?.
Thats a bit far innit.
Leo Phillips
A show literally based around the least interesting part of the series and the worst major ethnic group. Targaryens and other Valyrianshits are boring.
Where's the lower fantasy spinoff that will focus more on the politics and conventional warfare aspects more like the earlier seasons?!
Elijah Brown
wtf i love bong humor
Brody Baker
Yea Forums really is full of underage and boomer brainlets
I'd rather have an alternate timeline show where we watch as Jon breaks the (((Three Eyed Raven)))s conditioning and embraces his love for the one true Queen. From there, we watch as Queen Daenerys builds a thousand year empire from the ashes of the Lannister scum, but not before crucifying the traitors Tyrion and the monstrous entity possessing Bran Stark. Finally, as she brings Essos to heel and proclaims the restoration of a Holy Valyrian Empire to stretch the whole of the world, it becomes clear to her that she's become so based & redpilled that her fertility returns and she conceives a child with Jon.
Carson Harris
They're really shooting themselves in the foot by abandoning the cast
Sebastian Gray
No, you retarded showfag. Essos is Eurasia, and not a big brown shithole like in the show. Those waves of men were pseudo aryans or cro-magnons and pseudo germanic tribes respectively.
Western Essos is mainland Europe, the middle of it is basically Central Asia with Dothraki hordes, the southern parts of Essos are pseudo Middle East and North Africa, in the north you have Slavs and Balts, and in the east you have pseudo China and Japan. Sothryos seems to be a mix of Africa and Southern America, but its inhabitants are more akin to abbos and prehistoric humans than to niggers. Niggers in ASOIAF come from Summer Islands rather than Sothryos.
>dragons and shit >but muhhhh historical realismmmmmm lol you /pol/ spergs
Alexander Cox
>pan-europeanism wasn't a concept in the age of nation-states even though the concept of whiteness was >this means that white people aren't real
Josiah Jenkins
DoA I wont be watching And I'll for sure dump gore on live threads, this kind of shit has no place on Yea Forums anymore
Parker Jenkins
fpbp
John Lee
they could slaves or something.
Ian Scott
>It reveals the social, economic, and political crises which tore apart the empire from within >Empire collapses from volcano So its literally just a bunch of made up bullshit attached to an IP the public likes to push propaganda
Asher Johnson
The volcanoes exploded because it was her turn
Lucas Bailey
so Rome?
Charles Robinson
why would they go for Valyria, which is really high cost show (thanks to dragons) instead of Dunk and Egg or Robert rebellion is pretty weird to me
Jose Wright
Yes, Rome, but shit
Joshua Powell
Sorry bitch, Amazon is already doing Numenor-kino. Have sex you fat bitch
>dragons and shit >but muhhhh historical realismmmmmmmm I guess because dragons anything goes right? Have characters show up with guns and robots cause DRAGONSSSSSS lul nothing needs to make sense.
