Did he went too far this time? After Blue is the warmest color.. he's more extreme now in his last movie
>As if stung by ethical questions regarding the acrobatic bedroom feats in “Blue Is the Warmest Color” and the openly expressed concerns about how much of the onscreen action was simulated, here he leaves no room to question, staging a 12-minute-long bathroom-floor cunnilingus sequence that goes out of its way to prove its authenticity. Just what does this resoundingly pornographic break offer the larger film in terms of theme? Who can really say, but it will sure rile the prudes and tut-tutters.
It's not 4 hours, but 3.5 hours. I read somewhere that the pussy eating scene is 20 minutes. Kechiche is absolutely based. The first part of Mektoub only had one sex scene, i was actually surprised. This one seems like he went all in. The film is getting destroyed at critics polls. Even at French polls. But you have to respect him for this level of massive trolling. Making those priviliged journalists sit through 3,5 hours of shaking asses and tits especially in current political climate and the complaints against him. He is under investigation for sexual misconduct on the set of Blue is the Warmest Color. Still he is based for this type trolling, i didn't love the first Mektoub, but i have to respect his dedication and not giving a fuck about anything.
Dylan Thompson
He's just a pervert. Lol. I mean, I kinda get it - making women eat pussy on set is a great idea.
Cameron Martinez
He is an artist. You just don't get it. I mean when you see the actress who is in that long pussy eating scene in Mektoub, you understand why he is giving her more screentime.
Michael Cox
He managed to piss off even the most lascivious critics
Daniel Ward
I only need to know one thing: /ourguy/ or not?
Parker Collins
Most definitely yes.
Colton Howard
Isn't pussy eating forbidden in Islam?
Bentley Kelly

Juan Cooper
extremely based most certainly
Blake Thomas
I hope it's this cute white girl who gets her pussy eaten
Nobody gets mad when Noé films a porn film in 3D but Kechiche gives us a 12 minutes oral sex scene and everybody gets outraged?
Nigga is the Pialat of our generation, I hope he gets another Palme d'Or so he can tell the critics to go fuck themselves.
Jeremiah Clark
Men are ugly, I wish it was sexy yuri, not Algerians or some other brown fucks fucking white women.
Zachary White
They actually did. Love wasn't liked by critics.
Justin Hill
You should have seen the first one. The main character was definitely /ourguy/

>If a director films 20 solid minutes of shots of flowers, or of twisty roads, or of people just walking or of an empty street as people pass by (hello, Bela Tarr and Lav Diaz!), or of the Empire State (hello, Andy Warhol!), or of a trunk on the shore (hello, Kiarostami!), or of trees and clouds (hello, Malick!), of course many critics complain too, but many others consider it art. Based on Tarkovsky’s notions about how filming a subject for a long time makes it go from banal to transcendent, much of modern cinema has become personal variations of that approach (for instance, “slow cinema”, although many films that are not considered “slow cinema” use this approach too). >So that begs the questions: why is an ass such a contemptible subject to film for minutes and minutes, as opposed to a flower, an insect, a road or a trunk gently floating on the shore? Isn’t sex, and sexual desire, something that can be even more transcendent than trunks on the shore? Based. Kechiche confirmed for the greatest modern assteur.
Dominic Cooper
He's right, you know I know that it wasn't well liked but I feel like it wasn't considered outrageous.
Blake Johnson
Love was trashed by critics. I like Kechiche but saying that he is Pialat of our generation is a bit too much. Stop posting here McTeague.
Hunter Barnes
YAWN! Make a thread once you can view the scenes online.
Ryder Jenkins
The press conference about Mektoub Intermezzo is on right now at Cannes youtube page.
Christian Perry
Dolan is still the lowest ranked one on Todas. Mektoub received some very low ratings initially, but then later others gave him plenty of 8s and even a 9.
Dominic Davis
>I like Kechiche but saying that he is Pialat of our generation is a bit too much
Maybe but he's the last great naturalist filmmaker. Anyway I don't get the hate about the 15min pussy eating sex scene from feminist, it's a fucking feministe gesture, 15min dedicated to female pleasure, If Kechiche was named Fatima they would worship her. Kechiche loves bodies like a painter loves the bodies he paint. People hate a naturalist sex scene but are the first to fap to porn made without desire, where everything is mechanic and deshumanized Kechiche is too pure for this world just like Malick
Dolan seems really annoying, there was a clip of his new one and it looked like an episode of The Office. He was using some strange zooms and it looked terrible. Well i agree with what you wrote. Kechiche is getting shit from critics because of male gaze. Whatever that means. Malick also had some strange criticism this year.
Thomas Morales
I feel sorry for Dolan. He looks like a sensitive guy and he went from being the wonder boy of Cannes to a meme people make fun of. Some of the twitts about his new film were really mean.
Henry Ward
I don't feel bad for him, he was always an arrogant poser who made safe and boring films about his homosexuality and/or his repressed lust for his mother.
Lucas Sanchez
I don't feel sorry for him. He seems like an entitled brat. He is still pushed into the main competition despite his films not being that good. That Donovan film was trashed and It's Only the End of the World was terrible. This one seems to be bad too. I would say that him, Desplechin and Sachs are people who are taking up the place in competition. Meanwhile people who need the attention more are in sidebars. Someone like Bertrand Bonello, Oliver Laxe and Robert Eggers seem like they would be more suited for competition based on the reviews. I have read some discussion and some people claimed that if Eggers was in competition there would be high chance of the film winning some prize meanwhile Dolan is still in competition with his mediocre films.
>film is absolute trash >put a real sex scene in for controversy instead of trying to make a good film good plan desu

>Friday at 1:30am, Kechiche directly left the room before hearing the public's reaction. Visibly emotive and embarassed, he just uttured these words: "je m'excuse de vous avoir retenus sans vous prévenir et voilà... je m'en vais" (I'm sorry for keeping you that long without notice... so there, I'm leaving).
>Ophélie Bau, one of the main actress, already have left the room when the lights turned on. She didn't show up at the press conference the next day either.
Kechiche made good films before so maybe it won't be trash, the reception to the film is quite divisive. As far as Kechiche's films go, they are very sensual and naturalistic. If you are in the mood they can be very good, although this one is 3,5 hours which gives me a pause. He explained at the press conference that he apologized because of his education, he considers it polite to apologize after you have taken up so much of somebody's time. I didn't catch the whole press conference but some american journalist asked him about this and his sexual allegations and Kechiche seemed quite annoyed. It's shame that Ophelie left, she was quite good in the first film.
>some american journalist asked him about this and his sexual allegations Literally EVERY fucking interview one (((((journalist)))) is there to derail it, its fucking insane.
Aiden Collins
Surprisingly there were a few critics sucking his dick in a good way during the press conference. Some of them made allegories you could think he didn't know about when it's his movie. Also he said that the cuts included some dialogue scenes that obviously would have let the viewer breath between twerking scenes. The man said he regretted cutting them and will put them back in for proper release.
Levi Sullivan
So he will make the film even longer. Seems like the film is bloated now. Critics always praise filmmakers during press conferences at cannes, i'm surprised that the one journalist even asked such a negative question, with such a sharp tone of voice. I haven't seen that in a while.
Levi Johnson
It was a special midnight showing (aka do your worst to fuck with us), hors-compétition, and still was panned with people leaving and questioning what was the point of cumshotting the audience with 3D. Kechiche came, fucked with them to the point his own actress left to protect herself from the embarrassment of people turning to her when they say her getting her pussy eaten on camera, and half of her shots focused on her bare ass. And after he just said thanks, I'm out. He didn't even care to put credits, that could answer the question of was it really her pussy getting eaten.
Chase Wright
Poor Ophelia, she seems nice.
Jordan Evans
It's almost over. The French faggots yet again shoehorned mediocre French flicks into the main competition while relagating better movies somewhere else.
Matthew Morris
In the Russian poll highest ratings came from women. Makes you think.
Jacob Bell
Agreed Desplechin and Dolan shouldn't have been in competition based on the reviews. The Lighthouse on the other hand should have been in competition.
Sebastian Gray
Didn't they also praise A History of Violence for the cunnilingus scene? Which was fun seeing as they also hated the later sex scene in the film saying it was rape, forgetting it made sense narrative wise im a movie about a man going from meek to violent.
Justin Richardson
To be honest, Eggers is a nobody. Films from main competition usually come from established directors or actors turned directors. Eggers made one critically acclaimed film, but that's it. I'm almost certain his next film will enter one of the big film festivals.
Henry Flores
>from original 4h-is >cut to 3h30 >back to 4h-ish Imagine a movie added at the last minute because the editing took so long. It seems it was shot more than a year ago. He spent so much time on the editing deck fapping to see what sequence would cream his pants best that he took almost a year on editing alone. He even rejected every questions about the "sexy" parts of it, and the process of making the movie. >being that based I don't know if he's a perv retard that overstayed his hype, or just a kino porn director that said to himself >yeah let's try "normal" movies, I'm supposed to be Arab after all
Austin Cruz
The funny thing is, if he was a woman he wouldn't be criticized like that.
Eli Carter
I mean this year there are films from first time directors. Diop and Ladj never made anything, maybe some shorts. Even those films don't have exceptional ratings unlike Eggers who got really great reviews. It's just shame because i think film with such a strong vision and performances could have won some prize. Some people who are at the festival commented on this. As far as established directors go Bonello could have been in competition. I just don't know why they don't turn down some established names. Last year as far as i know they turned down Leigh, Nemes and Reygadas. They should have turned Dolan and Desplechin down.
Christopher Cook
He didn't explain anything at the press conference, that was quite funny, even denied that it's reaction to the critics. I'm actually quite surprised by the hate that the film is getting, i will see it for sure. The first part had just one sex scene. It was mostly sensual experience like being on holiday for three hours. Although the last part was at nightclub and there were lot of asses and it dragged on for too long.
Joshua Garcia
Reminds me of that one review from IMDB about Girlhood (Sciamma):
>The director's creepiness is double. The actresses have no idea that the unrealistic drama Sciamma has written for them is nothing but a pretext to perv on the otherness of their black bodies. Watching the film, we sense that this act of subtle deception perpetrated on the actresses by the director is a necessary ingredient in Sciamma's perverse scenario. Not only is she getting off on their otherness, she is getting off their ignorance of what is really going on. >Visually, the film is difficult to watch because of the constant close-ups. They create a claustrophobic effect that renders directly Sciamma's desire to possess her characters. Her camera is glued to their skin, incessantly and pervily traveling up and down their bodies. The fight scenes, each of which ends with a black teenage girl being beaten, stripped, and humiliated in front of a frothing crowd, form the true center of the movie. Here is where Sciamma's slip shows. We can sense her licking her lips and getting excited as she films these girls clawing at each other like enraged pit bulls. >Rather than focusing on the standard fixed body parts as the perverse male gaze would, the perverse female gaze treats every inch of these girls as an erogenous zone. The resulting absence of a fixed point of view elegantly materializes Sciamma's refusal of the phallic order and its pretension to objectivity.

>Nobody gets mad when Noé films a porn film in 3D but Kechiche gives us a 12 minutes oral sex scene and everybody gets outraged? Noe is an outsider and will never win shit. Kechiche already won the Palm and, for that, is supposed to be part of the "art mainstream", and his actions can be used as ammunition in the cultural war. I've only seen the first one, but it doesnt help that the movie was boring, and that the main character seems like a self-insert of Kechiche.
Angel Ramirez
>Who can really say, but it will sure rile the prudes and tut-tutters What fucking retard wrote this. Nobody gives a shit that some faggot filmed a porn, they give a shit he tried to call it a film. Fuck this reviewer and fuck this faggot director

>178 shots of asses Imagine polite critic being so much butthurt she had to count them. >fun fact : some older women that were asked about the movie praised it as a wonderful new way to show kino women The hate comes from the twitter boys and girls that got bored and shocked of Kechiche showing them the beauty of these sweating bodies dancing around when all they're used to praise is fat whales complaining about the patriarchy.

Yes it seems like what is being criticized is the way he shoots bodies, focuses on asses etc. Not really abundance of sex scenes, based on what i have read there is only the pussy eating scene. So it seems like it's not porn but more like sensual movements, erotic dancing on focus on these things for some reason enrage critics.
Henry Garcia
All artists are perverts. Nothing wrong with that. Michelangelo probably fucked his twink model in the ass after finishing David.

And you confidently wrote all that without even the care of making a 2s Google search, so smugly assured in your ignorance. Kill yourself.
Blake Richardson

You go do that, I won't kill myself though and you'll continue to rage for some inane reason.
They liked The Lighthouse, i think i will love that based on all the things i have read about it. It's still quite strange that pretentious highbrow critics like Il Traditore which seems like straightforward mafia thriller. The same goes for Tarantino, i don't understand the hard on some highbrow european critics have for him. Also strange that the Malick has such a low rating.
Jace Davis
People like that sometimes really like mainstream films or even trashy blockbusters. Few years ago that Russian guy from Slant or Mubi (I don't remember) praised Resident Evil 5 or 6 calling it a masterpiece and including it in his top 10 films of the year (among non-mainstream festival films). Cahiers du Cinema often puts critically panned films on their top 10 lists, they also usually really like Spielberg.
Jaxon Brown
Cahiers putting The Post on their top 10 was really funny. They have certain directors whom they love and love to suck their dicks.
Angel Mitchell
I dont get how people can like Zama, it was a 2/10 at most The Post was pretty good imho, much better than Bridge of Spies
Caleb Richardson
I liked Zama it was pretty interesting. The Post on the other hand was completely manipulative predictable trash, Streep was Streep and the pandering to feminists and several cringe worthy moments were really terrible. Bridge of Spies had better performances and didn't feel that calculated. The Post was film which felt like Spielberg made it so he could get an Oscar because muh relevant to todays political climate.
Blue was about the relationship about two lesbian girls, the SJW crowd cried of joy and the overlong sex scene didn't bother them then. But now that it's heterosexual and they didn't show a dick, it's muh male-gaze. Some of those older women I mentioned talked about the pussy scene as a woman empowered moment, since it's a man giving the best oral sex he can to a woman, with the focus being on her pleasure. Cognitive dissonance is now a way to devise people.
Wyatt Long

Carson Jenkins
>they didn't even bother filming the entire applause and/or people leaving Wtf
Christian Rivera
Within the Spielberg manipulative tricks, The Post was more honest than Bridge. Shows Streep incompetence in the beginning, shows how deep she is within the Washington power structures, and how easily they control her. It was also better directed. There are only two shots in the Post, the triumph staircase travelling and the ending that connects directly with All The Presidents Men. Both calculated for Oscar relevance, agree, but that's normal Spielberg. The Post also has that shot of the little girl passing over the documents with a glass of lemonade, which was great.
I couldnt find anything worthy in Zama, save the acting.
Liam Thomas
Why knock Spielberg's manipulation when you should celebrate that he can do it like no one else in history. how it utilizes film in a way of its utmost potential.
Benjamin Wright
>women: have sex incel >women, also: stop having so much sex wtf??!?
Im watching the cannes interviews, they are absolutely insane. Why are thye even there ?
Landon Anderson
The Bridge at least felt like someone competent wrote the script, Mark Rylance killed it in his role and the whole story was much more interesting. The Post felt like average biopic the script had nothing special in it and several moments were cringe inducing. When Streep's character walks down the stairs and every women stares at her as if she was a goddess, that was terrible. Also the visual style of Spielberg's films is getting stale, it looks all the same. The drab visuals and windows which exude terrible amount of light as if they were lightbulbs. My main problem is that it's average story, badly presented by Spielberg's standards with unconvincing performances, Streep is just so annoying. Plenty of directors can manipulate audience, problem with Spielberg is that he does it completely artificially, without any nuance. Good manipulation is manipulation you don't even notice or notice upon further thinking about the film.
Zachary King
Which one do you mean?
Luke Parker
Same bullshit that the girl tackling on Quentin for the Robbie line count. Where Quentin refused to engaged, Kechiche actually gave a good answer. They are more interested in the real life issues, that are irrelevant when you're talking about a movie. It's baiting to get a headline out of it. Same way some interviews turn sour when you can't stop asking about that shit the guy said 20 years ago.

>You all probably think 'what about Kechiche'? Kechiche is blood from the eyes. Total cinema, turning into total twerking. But the main thing that it puts to the women is a question: is it more important for us to struggle with objectification or cunnilingus (yes, it’s necessary to choose one thing)? I honestly choose cuni. The 13-minute (amateurs felt) answer to Vincent Gallo in The Brown Bunny. 'Mektoub: Intermezzo' isn't a pornography or misogyny, and certainly not evidence of dementia with impotence. Kechiche knows the aroma and taste of women, he knows what they want. The same as men only a little gently. Russian women liked it.
Michael Butler
