excuse me, i know i am late to the party, but finally caught this cause its on netflix. the premise always sounded stupid, but i had no idea how stupid this movie truly is. it just got stupider and and stupider as i watched through it, with the ending being the pièce de résistance of stupid. who wrote this? who came up with this story? who decided it was good enough to make a movie out of? how did no one say NO, DONT DO THIS, ITS STUPID, along the way while it was being produced?
i literally cannot fathom a more stupid movie plot. i feel stupider just for having watched it, i really mean that. there are some 'lol thats stupid' movies out there, like ace ventura pet detective and howard the duck, but at least those were comedies. this movie? its absolutely beyond comprehensibly stupid. WHY AND HOW DID THIS FUCKING MOVIE EVER GET MADE?

Weirdly enough, the original Belgian comic, Transpierceniege, was a scathing satire of the USSR. The protagonist escapes from KGB - like goons, gets the bourgeois girl he kidnaps killed, and then he meets the conductor... who is a mix of Trotski and Lenin, and he explains that he's not in charge, but a prisoner of the faceless authorities. He knows the train is slowly failing, and they're all doomed, so the authorities want to keep it all quiet. At the end the train stops and they all die.
