Imagine that you could push a button that would generate an incredible, perfect, mindblowing film every time you pushed it, but after pushing it your consciousness would be trapped in an empty void for 500 million years, unable to sleep or die, with nothing to do but think. After the time is up, your consciousness would return to your body exactly as it was when you pressed the button and all memory of those 500 million years would be completely wiped. Would you push it?

Nah, I don't watch films

All that for probably some capeshit, yeah no thnx

No because that would be the same as death.
I would live for 500 million years so what is essentially a different person could enjoy the reward

This is like the dumbest would you do it question I was ever asked. 500 fucking million years?

>making a kino everytime you push the button
No thanks. If it's kino for me, it's not worth watching.

if the memory was wiped I would have no idea it even happened. it would be like if I went to sleep tonight and somehow slept for 500 million years. what the fuck are you talking about OP.

brainlet

Why make this thread again?

For all you zoomies who have no idea what this thread is referencing

he said all memory of it is wiped

you're too stupid to understand it.

What the fuck are you talking about
Its a ridiculous amount of time and would be literal hell for those 500 million years but you wouldnt even notice it once back, you would have just blinked and your back. Unless the effects on your psyche arent wiped with the memory of it theres no downside.
Its still not fucking worth it for what OPs saying

you're too stupid to understand it.

what the fuck, no lmao. who would say yes to this

Enlighten me then

Jesus Christ no
press the button then faggot. press the fucking button. i dare you

Attached: button.png (512x512, 101K)

im too stupid to explain it.

i'd trick other people into pressing it, checkmate

>generate an incredible, perfect, mindblowing film
>some dumb idiot gets trapped for 500 million years
whats the downside to this

I heard they're looking for new writers for Black Mirror over at netflix. You should give it a try

>After the time is up, your consciousness would return to your body exactly as it was when you pressed the button and all memory of those 500 million years would be completely wiped.

Your consciousness is the only thing experiencing the 500 million years and your body is still in the same place, same time, and you would forget it. If you remembered it then fuck no

you don't have the balls to press it. you are so full of shit

What a stupid thread

well thats because it doesnt fucking exist and there would be no way of knowing if it was a trick and you wouldnt believe it

I'd just pause it at the end credits

No fucking way

that's the whole point of the thread you fucking moron to pretend if it were real hahaha

Ok, here's a better hypothetical.
All the characters in your favorite movies/tv shows will be replaced with people in fursuits(the quality of the acting is still the same), and have 20 minute furry porn scenes. AND you get $500 a month. Would you do it

Yeah dude only 500 million years of torment to be viewed as a guy who made a good movie for about 50 years until I die? Sounds like a great deal sign me up!

Attached: 1558391949455.jpg (250x201, 12K)

i guess i would just stop watching film completely and focus on music then.

Attached: doublebird.png (533x446, 270K)

Well if its guarenteed to work as it is put then you wouldnt even notice your mind had just fucked off to hell and theres no downside

How do they know what my favourite films/tv is when even I dont know

brainlet

Imagine you could push a button that made you suffer 500 million years of torture in a single moment, and then when that was over you got a cute gf

They read your subconscious mind.

Make it so I get to remember and you have a deal.
Way I see it, that's an extra 500 million years of life every second forever. That's closer to heaven than the nonexistence that follows us.

You're so stupid it hurts.

and im saying it's still a terrible deal. just because you don't remember something doesn't mean it's not bad. you still have to suffer for 500 million years. nobody would press that

i respect your opinion, but im trying to say that if this were actually real, you would pussy out before pressing the button. i don't think you would do it. just imagine being 1 year in. 10 years in? would it still be worth it?

You are given the talent of the best film makers of all time, but you can only make movies about black girls farting excessively. Would you push the button, Yea Forums?

this is the only semi reasonable answer to push the button.

Only if I'm the male lead.

Of course not, retard

Oh i agree its a terrible deal but if the stakes were better like say basically infinite money.

Go to sleep, have 500 million year dream, wake up and take a piss without even realising whats happened. Like i said if the stakes were better than some kino then why not.

>500 million years of empty void every second
>heaven
I think one of us is misunderstanding this

Attached: 1507287341656.jpg (243x207, 8K)

shit wrong reply

You don't understand. I would be so far lost in fantasy that even my tulpas would have tulpas.
For all intents and purposes, I would become god.

Day dreaming for 500 fucking million years. Sounds awesome.

i don't think you realize just how long 500 million years is. fuck forgetting it. could you imagine just being 2 years in? try to think for a second what it'd be like 4 years down the line. you'd curse the day you did this to yourself. i don't give a fuck if you forget it all. that's five hundred million fucking years mate.

What did he mean by this?

I 100% understand how long that is. Even going 24 hours in a isolated room can fuck up your mind see that one guy who got stuck in an elevator.
But my point is even if i hated my very existence and regretted it, it wouldnt matter because my experience of it wouldnt exist. I dont remember when i fall asleep but when I wake up, without any dreams, my experience is basically time travel. And since it happens instantaneous then you wouldnt even notice a difference and would probably think the buttons broke

i bet it would take like 20 years to get to that point. you'd probably have to go through a period of being in literal hell from years 5-15. eventually you would probably just snap and enjoy it.

The fact that you forget it and it's like it never happened only makes it worse, not better.

This concept is terrifying. Some people would press it.

How? If you remember it youre left with your broken mind and going back into your body would probably kill you because you dont remember how to keep your body functioning

you're comparing 9 hours to 500 mil. i understand that you'll forget it all and it would be irrelevant but why would you do that to yourself?

ill ask you once more; are you telling me if you KNEW this button would work, you would press it? you'd either have nuts of steel, or maybe just stupid to do that

I would 500 years to chill, no downsides after.

Its a void so no drugs or food or dick to rub. I need all of those things.

You who pressed the button, you in the void and the you afterwards are three different people.

I press the button, which creates another me who lives for 500 million years and then dies. I then return to the me who pressed the button and receive the kino that my clone suffered for.

I do a lot of stupid shit just out of the mind set of fuck it why not so I think i would. This probably fits in the stupid category

you afterwards and you before are the same person
>After the time is up, your consciousness would return to your body exactly as it was when you pressed the button
I guess it depends on how you interpret this line. I read it as your consciousness returns to your body, as your consciousness was when your pressed it. Its basically like saying your mind is x, it does something and becomes xy but then it goes back to x.

You wouldn't need it after 7-8 days.

>you're comparing 9 hours to 500 mil
Irrelevant. You *could* be sent to a void for 10 trillion years every time you blink, you just forget immediately after.

See? It doesn't matter.

only smart post ITT

It matters before you forget it. You will be wishing to forget but can't for 500m years and you will experience it before forgetting.

No, why would I? No one alive appreciates a perfect film not even this board which just gobbles up fresh shit from hollywood like everyone else, no one alive today deserves a perfect film.

>press the button and generate an incredible, perfect, mindblowing film
>no one watches it and watches Fast & Furios 27 instead
eh

Not him but psychologically damage isn't reliant on memory, the damage done from existing in solitude in a pocket universe (the original question) would drive a social creature to insanity you would cease to function, coming back you would be permanently altered regardless of memory.

Your entire argument hinges on forgetting undoing the entire thing when in reality you have to experience the whole 500 million years worth of solitude in a pocket universe, you would return after and forget it but not before living through it the first time, you're not just instantly fast forwarding in advance because you'll forget it lol don't you understand? It's not like the time prior to us existing in the sense that we aren't conscious of it so for us it was instantaneous, in this case it's your consciousness experiencing 500 million years of solitude, you experience the whole thing and AFTER experiencing that unbelievable amount of time you would FORGET but NOT BEFORE having EXPERIENCED it. Don't you get it?

>your consciousness would return to your body exactly as it was when you pressed the button

Doesn't sound like death to me.

There is no way to prove that this doesn't happen to everyone all the time. We believe it doesn't because given our knowledge it seems implausible, but maybe someday that'll change. Maybe someday we'll discover something about consciousness and quantum mechanics that makes it sound plausible, kinda like how atoms are mostly empty space despite every all appearances.

Or we may discover life that only has a conscious thought on average once every 500 million years because it exists between stellar voids and doesn't have any need to think more than that.

500 million years is nothing compared to the estimated time until the heat death of the universe.

Would you use a teleportation device user?
Scan and destroy your current body, transmit the information, and reconstruct it somewhere else?
