People just photoshop amusing pictures. They tend to just make sense in of themselves. Sometimes they're haha funny, generally they're amusing. Sometimes they just make a point.
You have to be able to look at something and see the message. You can't pretend to understand things like that. You have to know all the stories behind a thing. This day in age a lot of people google and wiki anything and everything. Something happens - people just sort of share about it/ look it up/ and make a satire about it. It's satire usually

for example, sad keanu, that's been a meme for a long while. it just looks goofy how sad he is. you add a sad taylor swift to exponentially exaggerate how goofy it looks = making an even goofier meme. that's it.
