I'm 40 and want to be an actor

Always felt moving to Hollywood is what I was meant to do. Never had the balls. I'm pretty good looking. Don't tell me I'm too old. Tell me what to do, who to contact, where to go, etc. No time for "join your local theater company first". No I won't be sucking dicks either. Real help for a real dream. Let's do this!

prepare your anus

do lots of oral exercises haha

Ok, got those standard replies out of the way. Now what? I know, it's impossible if not starting as a child actor or without famous parents. But fuck it. How do I realistically go about this shit. I'm dead serious. Spent 20 years reading exclusively about acting, movies, entertainment industry etc. I'm not an idiot.

So nobody has tried to live this dream? No stories or advice?

Only chance is to be a Danny Trejo kinda actor. Be typecast.

my advice it to take some lithium to ground yourself and learn to be content with whatever life you built for yourself already

-post your fucking face
-then your fucking reel
fucking retard

>he has to ask this board who to contact at age 40 to pursue his dreams
Might stay with those welfare checks grandpa. Age doesn't matter for acting anyway. Idk why you mention this.

Prepare for lots of "background man #4" roles.

Have you ever tried acting? Being 40 and posting on Yea Forums isn't a good sign, so I assume you are nothing special.
Do some acting classes, try to get a part in a play, then a indie film, then another, then hope to god your superb acting got the attention of a producer.

Have you ever considered auditioning for small roles in your local area? You gotta break into the scene. Ide suggest you look for comedic gigs, if you can't do comedy or make people laugh then you are fucked. Being a fucboi in the looks department isn't going up be enough

Change your last name to something Jewish sounding like Whoopi Goldberg or Zachary Levi both did.

Appreciate actual advice. Thise were my thoughts as a good place to start....attending/auditing acting classes. Hope for great contacts and role opportunities.

How much acting experience do you have?

Do it bro. Bryan Cranston had been a working actor for like 30 years before he got Breaking Bad and skyrocketed to A-list stardom and became regarded as one of the best actors in Hollywood in his 50’s. GRRM had been an author for like 40 years before his work became the biggest show in the world and at 60 years old put him in the same league as people like king. Then look at how many more people got their breaks much earlier. It can happen at any time and life isn’t over till it’s over.
Good luck, man.

yeah but those guys were doing their thing excessively for decades, cultivating their skills to the point they're at now

You're an idiot.

OP, here's something no one will tell you in person when you tell them this: You will fail. You will not succeed. The best you can hope for is to be able to suck or be fucked by some executive at the promise of a bit part only to be cast as a background character and then be denied entry on shooting day as your desperate texts to your executive go unanswered. You will not make it in Hollywood because people that make it in Hollywood could make it in any field. If you are not successful, now, in your 40s, you will never be successful at anything you do.

>Spent 20 years reading exclusively about acting, movies, entertainment industry etc
>I'm not an idiot

You had me fooled desu senpai

this desu. your mouth and your butthole are your most valuable assets

I’m connected to some people in the industry. if you send me some pics of your asshole I may set up a meeting.

idk, probably move to LA.. try to get into the theater scene, then try to contact a lower level agent who could get background parts/commercial parts?

Weak excuse. It doesn’t take 30 to 40 years to master something, which is why I said look at how many more people got their breaks much earlier in their careers.

or write something like Stallone did

>Spent 20 years reading exclusively about acting, movies, entertainment industry etc. I'm not an idiot.
But you haven't spent any of that time actually trying to get a role in so much as an extra
Try actually getting work in the field, don't even worry about "going full hollywood" yet dude

If you haven't made it by 25 in Hollywood, you never will.

Age-ism is brutal in Hollywood. Way worse than sexism and racism. Hollywood hates old people. They want nothing to do with anyone over 25 who hasn't already established themselves.

>spend 20 years doing research on the film industry
>come to /teevee/ for advice on how to make it as an actor
OP, I'd argue that you ARE an idiot.

>It doesn’t take 30 to 40 years to master something
Maybe not 30 to 40 but it takes at least 10 to 15 years to actually master something. Not everyone who gets their break is necessarily a master of their craft either.

The same as every other job.
>Take acting classes
>Participate in plays
>Participate in indie films
>Network with other people
>????
>Profit

>people that make it in Hollywood could make it in any field
fucking kek

So then what does it matter?

Grow the fuck up old man.

You dont want to be an actor.
If you did, there are local theater groups you could join.
You want to be a star. You want to be recognized for being something other than the fuckup you are now.
And that aint gonna happen.

user was talking about old guys that made it. I'm saying that I don't know of any older guys that made it without practicing for at least a decade first. The people that get their break that aren't really masters of their craft are usually young. It's harder to learn things once you pass a certain age
