What doesn't make sense is Yara Greyjoy going "Wait, we can do that? Jon is the oldest Targaryen and Stark, so he is a potential threat to both kingdoms. Even if he doesn't want to be king, as Varys said, someone could use him to start a rebellion.
He's a Queenslayer. Jamie got shit on for killing the Mad King, so there's probably enough people to shit on Jon too. Bad optics for releasing and protecting him.
And finally, Yara and probably some other Westerosi lords are still pissed at him for betraying their queen. Could lead to tensions.
All are meh reasons that aren't even explained in the show, but it could work.
