So, uh, what makes this the best movie of all time?

So, uh, what makes this the best movie of all time?

It's a great movie but not the greatest, which is pic related

The Big Sleep makes 0 sense. They literally The Snowman'd it.

It's not even Hitchcock's best

Is this now a Hitchcock thread?

I really liked Vertigo, although I found it kinda long.
Psycho was great, so was North by Northwest.
This weekend I watched Rear Window and frankly, I found it meh. I expected some actual crime film and maybe a twist, but in the end it was exactly like Jimmy thought. The courtyard microcosm was pretty cool, though, and it had its funny moments.

Rear Window is so good precisely because it makes you think there's a twist

It's not.
The best movie is clearly Sunrise

I have no idea but it unironically is just that.

It's not the best movie of all time. That goes to pic related

Hmmmm, I don't know. What was the punchline, then? Seltzer just standing there getting flashed and doing nothing was pretty silly.

Rope is Hitchcock's best
Plebs will disagree

What the fuck was with the ending? It was so abrupt. The bitch falls off and that’s it. It ends.

The end of Vertigo legitimately freaked me out. That nun looked inhuman upon appearance.

This guy fucks.

that's not Rear Window

>makes 0 sense
Because it's based on a book that makes no sense, doesn't stop it from being an incredible experience

So what's the worst Hitchcock film? Birds?

Rear Window is worth it just for this moment.

The Birds is excellent faggot

Rear Window was my first Hitchcock, and I loved it.
Didn't really like Vertigo much, Dial M for Murder was also a bit meh for me.
The only other Hitchcock I've seen so far is Rope, and I really enjoyed that one.

it's poetic

It annoyed me, desu, because how could he possibly NOT have seen James Stewart before? Dude was sitting right by an open window, with the lights on and all that.

An overall good movie, but subpar for Hitchcock standards I though.

Are you insane? It has fucking great effects considering its time.
And the scene at the diner parking lot where the dude explodes is pure apocalypse kino.

Why don't you faggots suggest which one of his movies is the worst in that case? There HAS to be one.

No, love it, but it's actually too long. It's the weirdest complaint as I love long shit but it's dragged out. Still, it's my 2nd most watched Hitchcock film.

The Man Who Knew Too Much is pretty forgettable despite great performances

Hitchcock has made 50 movies.

Birds might be the worst movie of his pantheon of his best dozen or so movies, making it not really even remotely close to his actual worst.

Well, it's the "worst" for me, having seen 98% of his movies. I still found it an enjoyable experience though.
I would never dare to imply that he's a bad director, like some of the contrarians on this board.

Because Thorwald wasn't looking for him before. Stewart being a journalist who enjoys people-watching is an unusual character trait for the time, Rear Window was made at a time concerns were being raised about the increased voyeurism of society (and news media, and films) and cameras were starting to become widely available to consumers. They even discuss how his behaviour is considered rude in the film.

>So, uh, what makes this the best movie of all time?
The blonde girl is really pretty

It isn’t. Sorcerer is the best movie of all time.

It's not the best ever. It's not even the best Hitchcock movie.

I think rear window is better

I loved Bogart in The Maltese Falcon. I will need to check this out too.

if you cant see it youre doomed
