Season 2 is slightly worse, and the storytelling is way less clean. There is some cool shit in there though. I’d say it’s worth watching.

It fucking sucks. I loved S1 but they cram so much pointless shit in S2 that has no payoff at all. Even the big reveal about Shogunworld is unironically filler. There will be multiple scenes where you think "it's a trick, theres no way this is happening right?" and it isn't. Pic related is the only good scene in the entire season.

Trailer looked interesting, but as soon as the end revealed it was season 3 of Westworld I lost interest immediately. Season 2 completely destroyed whatever good will I still had for it after season 1.

Jeffrey Wright and Ed Harris were the only parts to hold my interest in season 2, and season 2 more or less took a huge shit on both their characters (particularly William).

I will never forgive the show for beautifully setting up MiB's motivations and goals in Riddle of the Sphinx (a great episode of television) only to drop it and then anticlimactically ruin it in the season's stinger. Fuck Westworld.

Depends what is cyberpunk to you. Westworld is far from hi-tech low-life.

Cyberpunk is not just aesthetic but exploration of highly advancing technology that is changing the socioeconomic landscape. In the Westworld they invent these robots that are changing the social norms and the societal structures through the experiences the clients have. Nobody in the real world that can afford Westworld is doing anything because robots do all the work, at least that's my impression from the dialogues.

Killer robots are lame but it's shift towards existentialism and artificial life make it more enjoyable in certain ways, I delayed watching and watched the first 6-7 episodes in one go after only watching the first, maybe its better that way, also wait for 'William, ma boy!' top stuff

even if a phase out season 2 this trailer doesnt excite me at all. it could literally be about something entirely different (which is probably a good thing).

Cyberpunk explores certain socioeconomic consequences: failure of the state, rise of corporations and corpo-states, low quality of life despite widely available high technology.

I am not talking about robots being more human though but rather about how humans and human relationships are changed by the interactions with robots though I give you that the show doesn't explore this aspect of the technology that much. There are only vague statements about the outside world but from the characters it seems to me it is a cyberpunk world.
