I think you mean width? If something has a large width then it won't have a long range. If it's a net I assume it's made of ropes which can be burnt. Anti Air guns have projectiles that explode in mid air so you have both range because it's small and width of damage because of the explosion. I doubt you could replicate that with medieval tech
