How did he do such an incredible job in this role? He never stood out as a very good actor to me in other movies. But in BR he completely steals the spotlight as this christ like warrior poet.

wow it's almost like audio is more important just like every single filmmaker of the last 70 years has said

who the fuck is stallone snipes? why is his name bigger than the movie's?

>audio is more important than editing in film
how dumb are you

How? The cinematography in Blade Runner is almost second to none

Are you equating editing with cinematography? What?

That clip is literally two cutaway shots with a slowmo at the end
What the fuck bothered you so much about that
Is this what film school does to people?

goddamn
to think that that turned into that soulless skeleton ghoul she is today

>the editing seems really clunky
It has 15 different cuts yet still somehow turned out better than the sequel. I really don't get the appeal.

The editing, the awkward clunky fast cutting of the reverse shots, especially after the great unbroken 20 second long shot.
The second cut to Deckard is borderline comical because of it

Deckard, my man, do you even realize the importance of these events which I am vaguely describing right now? Lasers going pewpew and ships going boomboom in space. This changes everything! Your perception of replicants such as myself and a possible love interest of yours shall never be the same, I'm sure. Peace out.

>It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?
>*Turns, walks away, then turns around after a few steps*
>Actually, let me clarify what I meant by that statement.
>You see, what I meant was that Rachel, the replicant created by Tyrell Corp, will not live for long as she has a four-year lifespan. Now, when I rhetorically ask who does live, my intention is to compare the very limited lifespan of a replicant to that of a human being. After all, death is an inevitability that humans and replicants alike must live with, and in that sense, are humans and replicants really so different?
>Take that Roy Batty guy for instance. I was standing here for the entire duration of that speech he just gave waiting for him to let the so subtle white dove go so I have my cue to come in. I couldn't really understand what he was saying through his mumbling, but I think I heard something about spaceships and someone named "Ryan." He might have meant Ryan Jones, the janitor of my apartment building. Anyway, he only sought to lengthen his own lifespan to survive his predetermined death. Any one of us would have done the same, right?
>Now, let's move on to those origami figures that I would leave in crime scenes for no discernible reason...
>Are you listening to me, Deckard?
>*Leans forward, raises voice*
>Let me make this perfectly clear, Rick Deckard! You are not a human being! You are a replicant created by Tyrell Corp whose sole purpose is to hunt and eliminate wayward replicants such as were Roy Batty and his three companions!
>Etch this into your brain, Rick Deckard!
>YOU ARE A REPLICANT
>*Turns and walks away into rain that will be lost in time*

I admit I chuckled but come on lad.
Its not that strongly implied, its just a little hint that he may have been a replicant. If he was a replicant it changes the meaning of the movie but not in a bad way. We just saw Roy, who had awakened from his slavery and started to feel, finally make peace with death and before he went he helped Deckard understand that he wasnt just a machine he was alive. Assuming Deckard is a replicant, this is what awakens him from his slavery. If he's a human, this is the point where he regains his humanity. The meaning isnt all that different.

Imagine if Deckard offed himself right then and there mid sentence of Roy talking about C beams

You joke but this was an actual take. Gaff says "but are you sure you ARE a man??" before leaving. Thank god they didn't use that one.

I dont get it

Everyone in this carcass of a thread.

Attached: (((you))).png (1416x672, 528K)

where does the door lead? also what do the three parentheses mean? there's only one parentheses in a (you).

Regaining his humanity is more interesting though imo

I wish Hollywood would calm the fuck down with its deadlines for marketing departments so we could get amazing hand-painted posters like this again.

I dont think it matters honestly
The movie makes the case that replicants are essentially just humans, so the question of whether he is or isnt is largely irrelevant
He's a sapient being regardless and he gains true consciousness in that scene with Roy

Final Cut, skipping the unicorn dream, is the proper way to watch it.

>essentially just humans
Very autistic humans maybe

Well they have the emotional control of infants, since they're still new to it all
Thats why they're all in love with each other and react so violently to things, ect.
That was one hint that Deckard might be a replicant, that sex scene with Rachel where he acts violent
