The show was written to engage cheap end of episode drama so people.tune in for the next episode just to see what happens (the same psychology for how people get addicted to grinding in vidya they just do it to get a hit of dopamine they dont actually care about the content) and meme shock value of killing off characters gives them the hit to keep on watching a poorly conceived show.
