What doesn't make sense is why the Night's Watch would exist after the White Walkers have been defeated and that the Wildlings are now at peace with the Seven Kingdoms. I'm still not sure if it was a ruse by Bran, Sansa and Arya to allow Jon to go free because Greyworm wouldn't know any better or if the writers didn't think it through. The reason they accepted criminals is because it was a necessary institution that needed men. It also was neutral to the Seven Kingdoms because the threat the White Walkers posed but now that there are no White Walkers why would the North accept criminals from the South?

Had the best army inside a defensible position. Plus he and his people helped against the White Walkers saving Westeros.
