remove fairing, remove filler cap, get bucket, remove drain plug, drain, replace plug, fill with coolant mixed appropriately, start bike, give hoses a couple squeezes before they get hot, run up to operating temp, test ride, have a beer
what kind of coolant should I get? I'm not sure what kind was in it previously

I've used this too but it's a bit pricey
check the owner's manual but if you are changing it regularly any quality normal coolant mixed per the instructions on the back of the container (or buy premixed) will do
just don't buy anything weird or mix dexcool with traditional coolant
also if you're mixing your own measure it properly and use distilled water
