The problem with Family Guy and its viewers is that the show would be funnier but lose its fan base if they stopped explaining the jokes in the middle of/after the joke. It's like its own version of a laughtrack, telling audiences when to laugh, except their style of humor explains (why) it's funny... which is just poor writing. Family Guy obviously has a huge fan base, but is hated around the writing community due to its poor output, despite high view count. Same reason shows like Big Bang Theory had such high views because the writers informed audiences when to laugh. Most people are too brainlet to know when to laugh, what to laugh at and why it's funny. And that covers 99% of Family Guy's fan base.

When you’re smart enough to see not only the joke, but the people who wrote the joke, the people the joke is aimed at, and the whole process that it takes to have that joke actually aired, you laugh. And yes I experience this with every family guy joke
