Now that /got/ is finally over can we finally have some REAL fantasy kino?

Judging by the cover it looks like generic garbage for women.

judging something by the cover, an ironically womanly way of approaching things

I’d wager that less than 30% of this series’ readers are women, about the same ratio as ASOIAF before GoT came around.

>we will never get a mistborn anime

Never heard of it. You recommend?

>writer's name significantly bigger than the title
full of himself, isn't he

>awkward jabba the hutt sex scenes
steven erikson is a virgin chubby chaser

He's a Canadian.

I can only hope grrm was seething when he found out The Black Company title was already taken and had to go with the golden company instead for his series.

That's not the wheel of time pal

Definitely. Book of the new Sun is one of the best Science Fantasy series of all time.

The writing in that series is incredibly bad.
Almost as bad as this one.

wheel of time adaptation confirmed for woke numale shit

>glance through thread
>no mention of the Stormlight Archive
You fags never cease to disappoint me.

based

I love Book of the New Sun, but how the fuck would you adapt it?

Malazan is unironically diverse and has alot of women characters It's just it isn't a selling point of the series.

they all get fat to feed erikson's fetish

>gene wolfe
>steven erikson
>RS bakker

the three unfilmables.

>literal video game mechanics

>literal video game mechanics

if you were talking about Mistborn, I'd agree. But SLA is legit and the power system works well for fantasy.

I'm on book 3 and am loving the series so far. I just don't think it could be done justice on film. Although I pretty much have Lance Reddick playing Quick Ben and Pierce Brosnan as Whiskeyjack in my head which would be kino.

I'm in the third book. I was recommended it because it supposedly has the best large scale fantasy battle in novel format and it's true.

My main problems are that
>the dialogue honestly isn't that great(relative to ASOIAF)
>It's really uneven with some subplots being way better and some going nowhere. I heard it gets worse in later books and the author had no editor
>It's annoyingly PC to a fault. Even the bad guys are PC
>50% of armies are women... So like when one army is described sacking a city and raping the civilians are like only half cheering and thinking better them than me.
>ALL THESE GODAMN NIGGERS!!!

Doubt 30%. Malazan is really gritty and militaryish. It's pretty much as unfeminine as you could get.

Get back to making the dongamentary Toad

It could be done but it would require capeshit levels of financing and nobody would shell out for something so weird

I'm on book six though, it's a great series

looking at my fantasy book stack and that seems to be the norm...
hmm...
i thinking they all fancy themselves as the new tolkien

Sandersons prose is so meh

Agree with the women but a lot of the black characters are just white people with midnight skin not negroes

Read the first book after reading Reddit RAVING about it. Boring shit.

keep track of how many women get fat it's staggering

>30%
Lol. Way too high man.

literal sub-nigger iq

>>ALL THESE GODAMN NIGGERS!!!

I'm actually fine with this. Diversity is ridiculous in period/fantasy worlds where the best forms of transport are horses and ships. But when you've got warrens and shit then it's a lot more likely that different groups of people can move round the planet more freely.

The only thing I keep track is the amount of times people shit and piss themselves. Like seriously what the fuck

Also some of the characters are hilariously overpowered. Like Brood can break mountains in half and Envy is just tearing through armies. How do you lose?

contrivance mainly

I'm halfway through Hero of Ages right now and an adaptation like that is all I've been able to think about

Yeah, there is any means of teleportation then diversity is fine.
Women being part of an army if they aren't throwing fireballs is not.

>90s JRPG:The Novel

WTF i love Malazan now?!!

>lol I'm literaly Jesus
fuck off

I don't hear a problem.

Malazan can only be an anime

Attached is the only series I could see be live action adapted and succeed

Unironically too good for the screen. RIP Gene.

Do you think the Trollocs are gonna look fake?

I knew it wasn't deja vu

I think they're using proper prosthetics, so hopefully not.

I finished Malazan a couple months ago and wew lad Crippled God was a huge disappointment.

I don't understand why people want Sanderson adaptations. This is live action. No one will watch shown tier internal monologue of what's happening in a fight or how combat works

It really does get worse in later books, I remember books 8 and 9 being a struggle to finish and I gave up half way through book 10 and just skipped to the end to see what happened, even though I didn't really care what happened anymore.

That's not a tv show or movie. I have it and it's good.

> you will never be fucking Sorry
