>the ruler is going to affect all the people of the land, not just the Lord's and lady's.
>That's why we need to pick someone with policies to strengthen the nation as a whole, economically and ethnically, to defend them against foreign subversive powers who wish them to remain crippled
Holy shit Sam what books were you reading with the Maesters?

I can't believe that they got away with this

The majority of people in westeros who could read were probably in that little gathering, how was he expecting the peasants to make informed choices

Geez Sam, don't you think you should have left "Protocols of the Elders of Braavos" in the forbidden section of the citadel?

wtf, /got/ was /pol/ all along?

>We have been under the yolk of the mystery schools for too long; our people forced to work under slavery, within usury. This Bravosi clique of international bankers has had us in chains, and now the time is ripe to finally root them out.

Jeez, just because it's in medieval times doesn't give the writers an excuse to say those things.

>directed by Sam Raimi

holy shit
wasn't he chad?

I mean, the peasants in the US, the most
powerful country in the world, can barely read, fall for fake Russian and Isreali conspiracies and think a green frog meme from 2003 is still funny. They voted in a failing businessman who pays for sex and doesnt understand how cars work

Its not too far off from reality.

he was overall the most chad guy there

For their credit the outcome of such suggestion is realistic.
You just cannot choose to switch from autocracy to democracy in medieval society. Democracy actually occurred in Italian communes during the medieval period, but it specifically happened there because of the higher percentage of urbanization.

Cute. Almost worth a (you).
Almost

did the people actually get to vote in the italian cities or was it only for the oligarch families? also feudalism isn't exactly autocracy, the power of the king is kinda checked by the nobility

This was supposed to sound like a good idea to the audience. Western society is collapsing because common folk have a say

>did the people actually get to vote in the italian cities or was it only for the oligarch families?
Yes, one of the communes even picked the ruler by lottery.
What you are referring to were the signoria, that emerged from the communes as a result of the Guelphs and Ghibellines.

>also feudalism isn't exactly autocracy, the power of the king is kinda checked by the nobility
Nobody rules alone, but yeah, Westeros isn't an absolute monarchy.
