I hope they learned from season 2. I don't want another season of the writers trying to make it as illogical and hard to determine when events are taking place in relation to anything else happening and holding back crucial information just so they can have a useless twist at the end with an exposition dump.

They put all the money GoT made them into Westworld, cause at least Nolan can write actual dialoue, unlike D&D.

Season 2's best moments were The Man in Black's scene of "death was sitting right across from you" and the entire Native American story. Everything else was such a slog to get through.

Dropped from ~2M average viewers to ~1.5M average viewers. Lowest viewers was ~1.1M last season. The show is expensive as fuck and it's supposedly to run 7 seasons. I can see it being cancelled by the end of S3.

What? Nobody talks in Westworld, they just make monologues or deep "philosophical" proclamations at each other. I don't believe there's even been one part of dialogue in season 2.

Guys are tasked with creating a theme park where you LARP as a someone in the Old West. The world is filled with NPC robots that you can fuck, torture, kill, befriend, get quests from, etc. Like a video game but "real". During this they create real AI. One of guys loses his kid and views the AI as his new legacy/progeny. The other guy views it as an unnecessary complication at first, and wants to stop making them smart. The first guy ends up creating this puzzle to let the AI become fully self-aware over time. Then has the first robut he built kill him and the other robuts. The other guy helps cover up the mess and continues the work of making realistic NPCs.

Decades later, the robuts start waking up and becoming self-aware. The other guy realized what was happening and decided, in his old age, to make it happen. So he created a ruse that would set the NPCs free from the park. The company that's been funding the park finds out when it's too late. The company also has been using the park to datamine its guests by literally copying their brain patterns an thoughts. It turns out the park was just a means to collect data and work as a testing ground to put human minds into a synthetic brain so that people can be immortal. The robuts find out about this and sabotage it. Then the robuts discover there are other theme parks about different things, such as a Feudal Japan park and a British Imperial India park. They escape to the real world with just a few of their robut pals. One of the main robuts is bent on destroying humankind, the other wants to stop her.

The theory is that the futuristic world you see in the trailer is actually just another park. As Westworld is loosely based on a movie from the 70s and its sequel is a movie called Futureworld. Also the lines that Aaron Paul says in the trailer are a mirror of what the main rebellious robut says in S1E1. Notice the mirror-effects on the text of the trailer as well. We will see.

Jesse has a nephew he looks after who dolores starts to take care of.

Only episode I remember is the Native American episode which was the only relatively good one imho.

This series was way too forced to become the next big thing but it failed to deliver. Forcing things rarely works, the shows that got big were usually not even expected to get so big as with GoT.

Season 1 was fine. Season 2 was just terrible because it focused way too much on the YAASS QUEEN SLAY characters that no one actually likes.

Yeah but it could be the real world that's been designed to operate like a theme park. The government instituted policies that make the world operate more smoothly by treating humans like hosts. The things they do are controlled and him picking the heist job was a just him following his "programming". The Davos employees said the outside world was shitty in S2. It's probably very authoritarian. Delores escapes to find that humans aren't as in control as she expected. They're all slaves to a system just like she was.

Jonathan Nolan wrote The Plane Scene. Truly a master linguist.

Season 2 was so shit and not just because of the obnoxious timeline. Some stuff just didn't make sense to me.

You can watch it without looking at the other episodes. It's episode 8 of S2.
I recommend it.

the one focused on the indian NPC who awakens and then the third or fourth episode that focuses on MiB/William in the past/present/future/whatever the fuck as he interacts with his father in law, plus does his fight in the rain with that confederate.

To be honest when season one ended I was really hype for season two basicly being a zombie/robot apocalypse in a theme park and MIB being the only one well suited to surviving/taking it on. It ended up being a completely different and retarded story compared to what was set up at the end of season one.

It's really incredible how they murdered season 2 as hard as they did.
Every woman has superpowers rivaling god himself while they just turn off those powers when the story demands it.
Did they make it awful on purpose?
Managed 6 entire episodes, no wonder i hadn't even heard that season 2 was released until a month ago.
