Star Wars was actually bigger than ever thanks to Lucas giving out the story rights so much. We got a diverse range of videogames and books, which more than made up for the movies.

Now that disney holds the series by the balls, and the movies aren't doing anything new or interesting to generate side content, it's dying hard.
