You mean those things people had to use before movies. Get with the times user.
Books are for fags
What came before books?
audibooks>movies>toiler paper>comics>hentai>manga>books
shittybook makes superior movie
good book makes shitty movie
oral history.
Plato thought books were for retards
>ITT: zoomers with no attention span talk about how the written word makes their hydrocephalic heads hurt
>oral

Oh no! You used a fancy word! In a previous thread there was an user sperging that someone used the word "modicum" in a post.
books are completely subjective, and depend on the reader to "bring them to life", and even to place emphasis on what they consider the important elements of the story/narration. I know "book fans" will have no issue with simply skipping over part of a volume if they don't enjoy that part, or if it upsets them. In an ideal scenario, the audience member has no control over what they do/don't see during a film, barring something absurdly childish like covering/closing their eyes.
a book is also heard in the reader's own voice, putting all power in their hands, essentially translating everything in something they can independently understand instead of the voice of the author, who may intend something very different.
These are not issues of misinterpreting a work as presented, these are problems that change the very experience of digesting the work. Books are for people who want total control over their intake of art, and who are timid and fragile in terms of their ego. These audiences do not like art that presents itself in an inscrutable way.
Also, there's the obvious argument that film combines all the artistic disciplines into one concrete art form. Video games are obviously not concrete, and by requiring the direct participation of the audience member, render the finished piece an activity (aka "game", unsurprisingly enough), not an artwork. Artworks must be static before they can be satisfactorily subjected to interpretation, the same way a test needs to be completed before it can be graded.
movies are the highest form of art.
Books >movies >TV shows >Internet. Attention span is getting shorter so quality of entertainment is going down the drain
is this pasta
Books can contain far more wit and subtlety. They are generally superior except when the author is a hack like Stephen King.
Poetry > short stories > novels >>>>>>>>> movies > TV shows >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> video games
If you disagree with any of this order, congrats, you're a pleb.
books
>have to actually think and use your brain both to read, understand thing and visualize things
movies
>lol dude just sit back and passively get stuff thrown at you! just turn your brain off! I like pretty images and Refn!
Dune movie was better. Fight me
they are two different ways to tell a story and cannot be translated into the other without losing some meaning or being worse
pure visual doesnt translate well into narration
and narration translates even worse into pure visual
we need to stop trying to adapt shit, and enjoy them in their original medium
"NO!"
Gotta be cinema for me dawg:
>Our desires are artificial. We have to be taught to desire. Cinema is the ultimate pervert art. It doesn’t give you what you desire, it tells you ''how'' to desire.
this is only the way a stupid person watches a movie
to engage with it effectively, you have to be attentive and attempt to decode all the images, sounds, and ideas being presented to you simultaneously
Books. Only literal retards think otherwise. Considering Yea Forums raided the chromosome closet this thread isn’t exactly a surprise though
*shoves you into locker*
Yeah take that you bookworm faggot
I'm an extremely proficient reader and writer, yet I find reading incredibly boring and not worth the time for the payoff the vast majority of the time. Whenever I try to read I get maybe halfway through and lose interest. What are some books that managed to hold your attention? I'm not against it I just have read maybe 2 or 3 books total that caught my actual interest.
people saying "books" are plotfags

It means you are in danger of being a man. Most fiction is moral wankery so stick to non-fiction and find some topics that really interest you. I really enjoyed reading the book:
Tim Harford-Adapt_ Why Success Always Starts with Failure -Farrar, Straus and Giroux (2011).epub
It covers many topics, war, business, disaster. Just a general book.
I mostly go in for philosophy and history. A History of Western Philosophy is an interesting book for any one. Or if you must have plot then read an Augustus biography in between watching Rome.
I fast forward all cinematic dialogue involving women. You can't do it around women ofc but using your phone or sleeping or anything is a better use of time than listening to drivel from a mouth you can't stick your knob in.
