It was nowhere near as cool as the trailers, Aaron Taylor-Johnson was a bland lead, Bryan Cranston wasn't the lead, Ken Watanabe was also wasted, and while the movie built up Godzilla up nicely, it was obnoxious how it refused to show him actually fighting in the sequences after the big reveal. The suspense was gone and there was no reason to constantly cut away every time he was about to do something.

But if you want to watch it go ahead, it’s not as bad as some say it is in my opinion (though there are some glaring flaws)

Godzilla '14 was great. Really treated the monsters like the primeval, deific forces of nature they were, we were just in the middle of it. Kong: Skull Island was a bland CGIscape with poorly designed creatures and existed solely for its after credits scene. Terrible argument. Godzilla 2014 had mixed word of mouth as demonstrated by its front-loaded opening and terrible legs in every market. Plenty of bad movies get sequels and the lukewarm interest in KOTM suggests 2014 is not fondly looked back upon. Whatever success KOTM enjoys will be on its own terms.
