I've watched 2 seasons and just wasn't impressed by the show.
I think Archer and Bojack are better.

Rick and Morty is the worst kind of rigid orthodoxy masquerading as subversion in the form of a witless parody of a classic movie I love centered around a Mary Sue self-insert. The writers demonstrate no understanding of science or science fiction or even humanity. Their characters, speaking abstractly and not of their art style, are not so much cartoons as poorly done cubism, the kind you'd find at flea markets thrown in as freebies with the purchase of a pack of buffalo or ostrich meat. I find it fitting that the lead writer describes his storytelling process as a "story circle" because his tales are indeed interminable and accomplish nothing, mean nothing, zero. This series is an utterly disgusting pile of dreck, but even then I can admit that some of the jokes are humorous in that brainless high school stoner kind of way, the kind of lonely desperate kid who wore sunglasses all the time, even in class, who you didn't want to associate with because his face is bulbous and ugly, but who constantly proffered unfunny jokes 90% of the time, but the 10% justified not holding him down in the bathroom and pissing in his face every time he dared talked. What really is a dealbreaker is the fanbase. I have never encountered such a pathetic assemblage of worthless flesh in all my life. What vacuous little horrors this pack losers are. The fans are the reason why I hate this show, and I do hate it, with the blackest passion. The world would be a better place if Rick and Morty never existed.

I liked the first 2 seasons and episode 1 of season 3. I don't know what happened to the rest of season 3, but it was absolute garbage.

Half the writers wanted to unionize for healthcare but one of the creators wasn't having it. So he fires them and now more than half the writers are female, which is why you notice the tone change in season 3, Summer suddenly becomes a bad ass and Rick's favorite, while Morty gets told to have sex
