this, she was given an opportunity to act, and also showed some dimension of character in the scene where she"s alone in a room full of people, or when she is rejected or hears the bells and goes batshit.
the reason is because she shows true vulnerability, and the male urge is to protect, it is part of sexual attraction too. you find a mate, protect her and stay with her, keep her safe. it also humanises her, makes her feel a lot closer.
most of what we have seen from her in the series has been an untouchable, shouting, ordering superpowered girl, so while pretty, does not offer much in approachability.

Dany had been shown as a near mary sue character before Seasons 7 and 8. Particularily 8. This is the first we're seeing her as an actual human being and not a perfect dragon goddess-lady that is, supposedly, the flagship for everything good in a world ruled by betrayals and violence. It brought her closer to us.

I'm a fagfag so I can't speak for the femdom/yanderefags, but:

Dany was always kind of a shitty character, too good, too pure, too perfect. Clarke's acting or not, they took a nuanced character from the novels and turned her into a generic princess fantasy/power fantasy combo character (which is funny because this was the very trope GRRM was subverting with her in the books).

So Clarke hasn't really had a chance to do anything interesting acting-wise because, unless you're a 20-something female twitter user who loves to yaas kween, the character's just kind of dull.

Then she goes nuts, and she gets interesting. It makes no sense at all for her character, but it also means Clarke gets to actually act and not just stand there being stoically worshipped by people - and it turns out she's actually capable of acting! Biggest twist of the season honestly, wish they gave her more to do several seasons ago.
