>the thing already building a spaceship to leave earth
>destroy it and strand the alien
Why? Macready should've just let the thing fuck off to space.

It might have been trying to make it to other continents, as beetus man said it would.
MacReady was the alien in the end, desu. Anyone that tells you otherwise is just basing their opinion off of the videogame. The game had to make Childs the alien because if they went with the original ending, the game would make Childs the lead character in the game. To prove to you that MacReady is the alien, listen to the doctor talking about making contact. MacReady drinks after that one cuck who becomes an alien. Trust me, desu
What happens in the end? Is the Thing dead or it mutated into the nigger but Kurt R character is too tired to fight it?
It's dead, just as they're (about to be) dead.
this. holy shit
Maybe if it went to space it would bring back more of its kind
STFI, you idiot. Go back to /pol/
What's to stop the alien from coming back?
Based.
nigger
I always thought this to. If you follow every character the only person that makes sense to become The Thing is MacReady
it presumably was headed elsewhere. crash landing to earth doesn't seem to be intentional. if it was he wouldn't make another spaceship
If macreadys an alien why did he kill the other alien and blow up its ship then
Can you elaborate further on "the doctor talks about making contact and Macready drinks after a cuck becomes an alien", what do you mean?
>alien wants to leave the world
>McReady is the alien
>destroy it's own plans
Why would the Thing do this?
Shut the fuck up loser
People trying to kill it would make it want to leave too.
t. negro
It can survive being frozen for literally centuries. It was just waiting for a rescue crew to show up.
>trust me
I trust the blood test more.
The entire point is that it's ambiguous, there's no actual right answer, you're supposed to not know
I believe this was addressed in an interview once, gist of it being that the spaceship wasn't to "leave earth", it was to get the fuck out of the arctic.
Or it could have just turned on and attached the remaining humans like wilford brimley did, but instead macready literally faces off one on one with it, kills it, and bombs the spaceship?
Fuck off you contrary fuck childs is the alien
It was never clear that the thing intended to leave Earth using the vehicle.
If it reached another continent or even just the Antarctic coast it would become unstoppable.
>childs is the alien
to prank it's other doppelgangers
Because they were not sure if it was trying to leave Earth or just the Antarctic. They couldn't risk the Thing infecting the entire planet.
Yeah, I always thought it intended to head to a population center rather than leave the planet.
Uh no, There were multiple things
I never knew the Thing had a sense of humor. Maybe it wasn't such a bag guy after all.
nigger ?
>knows he's not the thing
>drinks from suspicious bottle
he's either the alien or completely retarded
same fag
He knew his life was over. There wasn't anything else he could do at that point.
wow imagine being this new
It wasn't strong enough to make it off earth you dumb asshole
/thread
to subvert expectations
Exactly
gods i was strong then
fucking zoomers getting excited about typing out nigger while no one is around them
Reminder that the original prequel cut was kino
delete this pls
Wasn't there a helicopter to do that?
No,the prequel was going to have practical effects and aliens but they got cut because zoomers thought it looked dumb.
>prequel
>kino
kys
The choppa has not enough fuel capacity to reach the nearest civilized place.
Is it truly this bad or at least is worth a watch?
I hate to break it to you but MacReady was the alien in the game too. He helped you destroy the final boss to divert suspicion from himself while allowing him to pilot the chopper to civilization.
Only the last couple of minutes are worth a watch because it ties in to the original. Everything else was garbage.
youtube.com
The original cut was kino!
>I trust the blood test
The test would show a negative if the person was an early infection and not completely assimilated. Over time a negative would turn positive. Testing has to be redone periodically.
Then why was macready saying he was going to use it to go somewhere? Checkmate dumbass, kys.
Cheers mate. Hows the reddit?
if Macready was the thing why didnt his blood react
I don't browse reddit, I'm too busy watching kino.
>watching kino
It probably did look dumb, but it was likely the fault of the cinematographer and lighting.
Because the last time he was tested he wasn't fully assimilated. By the end of the movie he was completely thing.
newfag
Thats stupid. There no way carpenter would do something so shitty.
This.
>movie makes a point that the thing is actually lots of smol things in the body
>this makes it so that even the smallest piece would make it react
>nooo my gay theory needs a headcanon now
Go suck a chode
>being this stupid
More like retarded Hollywood executives obsess over CGI.
THE THING WAS A NIGGER AND A JEW
NEWFAG KYS NOOB
>noob
Christ, at least pretend you belong here.
>noob
>not belonging
You really this new nigga?
I've been here since 2010, dumbass.
The game is canon straight from Carpenter. Also neither macready nor childs were infected.
M8, you've been on 4channel for a few months at most.
>you can build an interestellar ship with snow plowing machines
Huh
God this is so dumb
I'm old enough to remember when they called idiots like you summer fags. Or back when /pol/ was a humor forum and not a literal alt right/nazi recruiting center. Or when moot used to pop into threads from time-to-time. Keep trying, zoomer, I've been here a long time.
>dude you can build a car out of dirt lmao
cringe
He was clearly tired and stressed by the situation to be able to think clearly.
We're to assume the alien knows everything, everything it ever replaced knows. I'm sure some of the aliens it replaced could figure it out.
He just wanted to use the word cuck to try to fit in.
>cringe
The game didn't make Child's the alien you find his corpse in the first level.
It wasn't trying to get to space, it was trying to get to the mainland, or perhaps even the ocean.
I want tripcode users to leave. Especially this newfag one.
>I want tripcode users to leave
No tripcode here you noob. You're welcome to borrow this name anytime you want.
Carpenter said it’s the black guy. That’s why you don’t see his breath in the cold air at the end, but you see Kurt’s.
>pretending to be Yea Forums's dad
>tripcode users
It wasn't trying to build an interstellar ship. Just something to get it out of Antarctica.
I actually didn’t notice he was just a namefag. It’s still just as cringe. And you’re a faggot for defending him. Go suck his cock.
Literally pic related
How? If the alien were articulate and human-like/sapient, would you scoff if it said "I know everything anyone I ever replaced knows. With that combined knowledge, I can definitely build a craft out of this junk."
You just don't like the premise because the alien is shown to be animal-like, hiding where necessary and attacking only when cornered. However, that was likely just the instincts of one of the earliest organisms it replaced. Collecting skill and instincts as it went probably really helped it in its evolution.
Basically biological Borg.
>dude the Thing replicates on a microscopic level
>this means if you get on single cell inside you then you become a Thing
No. We see one instance of assimilation during the film and that's Benning. It's a massive operation that involves all sorts of weird tentacle shit.
Hey dummy, is Bennings human?
MacReady got infected while administering the blood test. He passed then got infected.
No the blood scampers away in the test. Each cell is programmed to survive independently. Even on a cellular level you get taken over albeit slowly. Thats why it was suggested they eat out of cans.
>getting offended at the word nigger on Yea Forums
sure smells like reddit
Bennings was jerking off too hard. But was human. You can see the breath. See? That means he's human.
So it's a common cold? Why doesnt everyone get infected?
Also
>a thing is actually some small thing that occupies a body with lots of other things
>therefore it lives with other things
>but somehow it wants to kill things
>Thing is also a scaredy cat
>so it makes even more sense for the fella to go full rambo on a nigh-unkillable beast
>he doesnt show any symptoms as well
>Every single infection had to be done in secret and took time
>we see the fucking protag on our screens throughout the movie
Not even a ms paint comic worthy theory and you suck gay dicks user
Last (you)
>That’s why you don’t see his breath in the cold air at the end
the thing is a perfect imitation you dumbfuck, there wouldn't be one missing thing that everyone else does but it doesn't. the same with the petrol theory, it's so fucking retarded
The dog-thing with Palmer was suggested as a slow assimilation.
>Why doesnt everyone get infected?
They do eventually. That's why MacReady suggests they shouldn't get rescued at the end.
Stop lying you retarded nigger
Dont get me wrong, the childs theory made perfect sense and all but carpenter straight up said I didnt really think about that hory sheet but it makes sense
For all we know movie let it end in suspense
The thing also gets better at imitating throughout the movie so there's that too
Other stations on the continent.
he wasn't building a real ship it was just an art project
They say so because it's a terrible risk if it breaks out no matter the chance and the paranoia factor
Good job being unable to read emotions
I bet you think the chopper fellas were infected too, which, to be fair, makes more sense than this
>there were actual spaceship parts around
>there were actual human-made vehicles all around
>all he wanted was get the fuck out of there to someplace safe, not even has to be space
>this doesnt make sense
>implying it wasn't going to leave the annoying savage humans who tried killing him unprovoked
The thing lives in the smallest parts of it. You'd have to be a moron to think it couldn't take you over. The real question is at what point do you disappear if its going cell by cell? Would you know it?
Where was this shown? It was trying to repair the helicopter so it could get to civilization.
Yeah, stations where people aren't trying to kill the thing.
All we see is the dog about to enter his room, presumably it's about to fuck him up real good. It licks a bunch of guys before that who turn out not to be Things.
You do not get to know it because it becomes you
It's not a god damn cold it's a god damn alien taking control of your body and imitating you
It did kill a few of their dogs, though.
>kills your dogs
>wtf thing dindu nuffin!
>it's not a damn cold
I wasn't suggesting it was airborne. But the cells and the creature are all the same thing. It's only a matter of scale.
No you fucking retard, it either sabotaged the helicopter or stole parts from it for the ship it was building.
...
The thing destroyed the blood bags because there would be a reaction of contaminated blood to human blood
What if the thing is such a perfect replication it doesnt know it is a thing even on a subconscious level and it starts fighting itself.
>perfect anything
>doesnt know what it is and fights itself
*laughs in descartes
You can see both of their breath at the end of the film.
>That’s why you don’t see his breath in the cold air at the end
user watch the movie. you do see his breath
>leaves his post to chase phantom into the darkness by himself
>changes his outfit while lost
Where were you Childs?
>well this sucks, guess the only thing left to do is become a cosmic horror and have my entire being absorbed by an alien parasite
keep reaching faggot
If it only replaced you cell by cell then you would still be yourself.
there's the problem
it can't "die" as long as there are traces left of it.
The whole place is contaminated. Sure they burned corpses, but there are lots of remainings, such as from the norwegian team, they found.
Sooner or later, police/scientists will find them and the game restarts.
It's not dead.
The practical effects in 2011 did look dumb same as the practical effects in 1982. There is good reason for Hollywood switching to CGI, practical effects have always been terrible. Evil Dead and the modern Evil Dead is a good example of this. The original Evil Dead has terrible practical effects the ruin the movie's immersion. The modern remake cleans that up with CGI and is the better movie of the two because of this.
>You can't like a movie I don't.
What a fag. Not only is your jaded opinion retarded the original movie isn't that great. It drags out too long is cheesy far to often.
CGI is superior when used correctly but what we are getting is CGI as a money saving tool. All the experienced artists are being fazed out so dozens of Indians can do shit work for pennies on the dollar, sacrificing artistic competence. Luckily AI will kill the film industry anyways.
Holy shit not even Stalinism is an opinion as shitty as this one.
The helicopters were damaged beyond their ability to repair them, retard.
The Helicopter had been trashed earlier. The spaceship was made from its parts.
So it could contact the rest of it's species to attack earth? No thanks
Yeah nah fuck off. Did I just bite the bait?
CGI is only good for tiny correction, when you make a centerpiece out of CGI it suffers from poor compositing every time.
Either construct full shots or don't flaunt the effect.
>evil dead
Extremely nice bait to include a movie with a shoestring budget
>Why? Macready should've just let the thing fuck off to space.
It was trying to get off Antarctica you fucking retard. It would have assimilated the Earth.
carpenter said one of them was the thing, and most likely its childs
>Wasn't there a helicopter to do that?
Helicopters don't have that kind of flight range, dingus.
Fun fact - guys making practical effects for 2011 got mad and made their own public funded kinda-thing movie. Aaaand it's shit.
It had some camp acting/writing but the effects were really good and that was the main point.
youtube.com
fuck off nigroid
It had crashed a million years before, and it would take time to travel back to its planet, by which time its species would be long gone or would have evolved into something unrecognisable.
Though, given it survived the freezing and could adopt any form it needed, perhaps it had reached a stable point in evolution and was more or less immortal, in which case you'd be right.
You've made me realise that The Thing was just an adult telling of the story of ET; he just wanted to go back home.
Poor guy, stranded on earth, frozen in the ice for thousands of years, all his crew dead apart from him, and when he tried to build a spaceship to go back to see if his people were still around, and if his sweetheart was still waiting for him, then the earthlings blew it up.
haha
can't remember where the line is from.
makes me think of the king from Conan.
Robert and his hammer.
>plebbit faggots thinking NIGGER is something unusual.
fuck off back where you came from
I agree,
avatar is the only film I'll watch, and I fast forward through the human bits
Childs drank the gasoline.
They CGI'd the fucking half-digested guy as well, completely unnecessary.
