Journalists were big dickheads to alt rock bands like Sonic Youth, prying into their personal life. If you don't know Nardwuar he just seems like he's trying to "getcha." But they were still pretty lame about it, Nirvana/Courtney Love had much worse experience with the press and they were still okay to him.

Exactly, a lot of the time like with Nirvana and Black Flag he was interviewing them right after a show in the middle of a tour and while exhausted and annoyed by his persona, most people got that he was doing a character and placate him. Even Rollins almost punched him but relented and answered him because he had really good questions
Sonic Youth literally just bullied him on a personal level. I love Sonic Youth but god damn are they assholes. They were all over 30 when they got famous and it's cringey watching them act like children
