Depends on how you define anime
The writing is distinctly western and the production team is korean, so not really
No. It’s not Japanese.
>Anime -> animeshon -> animation
>Is this animation
Yes it is.
How can capeshit even compete?
Yes, any Japanese person in Japan would tell you it's an anime.
They would say the same about Tom & Jerry.
love this anime
Yes.
It's the best Western anime to ever exist. Maybe the best anime to exist ever.
>Western anime
I don't get why my girlfriend (male) doesn't understand this concept. I'm glad somebody does
>the production team is korean
half anime then
Your girlfriend is a male?
I'd suggest it makes a bit too much sense to be anime.
Checked.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Riku and Moroti
Wow, I used to watch this when I was 10.
Never finished it cause in my country they aired the same episodes over and over again.
Is it even worth finishing it now?
Sure, it's a very solid and satisfying story
It holds up more than you’d expect, just don’t watch the sequel.
If it has japanese audio, it is anime. This is what Yea Forums has agreed upon.
Is liking western cartoons less degenerate than liking anime?
No, that's a mediocre comic
Thank you
Both are degen and there is nothing wrong with that. Normalfags get the rope.
No, because anime sucks ass
It's not a manga because
>not japanese
>not right to left, back to front
>no manga panel order and rules
>no manga conventions
>not intellectually stimulating like manga
Therefore it's a comic
Don't deprive yourself. Korra's terrific.
Neither is degenerate and both can be
>western animation created furies
>japanese animation created weebs and 2d waifus
The mediums are not degenerate, a tiny subset of the fanbase are degenerate
>past a certain age, a man who watches kid shows can be a bad thing
is this true?
This guy has had sex
Oh god, don’t troll the poor guy. Korra is abysmal.
dunno, but I promise to think very seriously about it after the bemusement over all the incels yammering about "degeneracy" wears off
How?
What's so terrible about it?
>Ruined the world
>Ruined the characters
>Ruined the concept of the Avatar
>Failed to deliver on it’s own ideas
Korra is so garbage.
Based but wrong about the confrontation with Ozai. Avatar’s one big weakness.
It didn't "ruin" any of those things.
You are incorrect.
Avatar: The Last Airbender was very good.
Very Star Wars OT like and with great character arcs for all the main characters.
I wonder how it's possible that the hacks that created Korra created something like ATLA.
Surely there is a another person responsible for the awesomeness of ATLA that wasn't in the team of LOK.
Only by the standards of overwrought hysteria that somehow manage to be treated as normative on Yea Forums.
Korra hate is a very normal position in the Avatar fandom fyi. It’s not a Yea Forums thing.
Sokka is great because he started as a silly funny comedy relief character and blossomed into a great warrior and one of the most level headed intelligent characters yet it remained fun.
In the current climate this seems impossible to happen again.
TLA > Anime > Other western cartoons
Generally anime has a far higher standard, The Last Aibender just happens to be an exception. Still not sure how it happened considering Nick are giga-kikes and Bryke are fucktards.
Then thank fuck I'm not active in the Avatar fandom.
Yes. Anime Thread?
The guy you're looking for is Aaron Ehasz
No, that's a comic book
Yup. His name is Aaron Ehasz. Bryke can’t function without him.
Shame because the rest of the finale was excellent, but Aang vs Ozai was pure asspull.
Not even just muh convinient rock or energy bending. The fact that he went into the Avatar State to beat him means that 3 seasons of adventure was pointless. Aang didn't use anything he'd learned on his journey in the final battle, he could have beat Ozai just as easily in the first episode by doing the same thing.
desu I thought that was the reason they wrote out the Avatar State in the first place.
If it was anime Sooka would not have become useless the moment he got his sword
is she the best girl?
Yes.
Sokka took the best girl.
Sukki was awesome in the final episode.
Not quite.
Translation:
>It didn't do exactly what I wanted it to do and my expectations were too high, therefore everything is terrible
The show is perfectly fine. If it truly was that terrible, it would have a much lower rating than 8.7 on imdb.
>tfw Mai gf who hates everything but you
Sokka only got more useful as the show went along.
Azula and Ty Lee are better. I also prefer Toph and Katara but I understand their flaws may turn other people off, whereas Suki is very agreeable.
Close, but not quite.
Didn't Sokka organize the greatest escape plan ever after the sword?
Not to mention the strategically genius attack to the Fire Nation?
And on top of that having the most heroic awesome fight, combining courage and intelligence and destroying the airships, which was the greatest victory (Aang didn't do shit).
Sokka is the best character.
Not at all. It fundamentally ruined everything I listed. Fanboys gonna fanboy.
>If it truly was that terrible, it would have a much lower rating than 8.7 on imdb.
>*commits incest*
Mai is a very underrated waifu
Ty Lee is good and hot but Sukki is wife material and much sexier and pure.
Are there really people defending Korra ITT?
Nostalgiafags?
This. Animation is animation.
It's the same baiting retard as usual
Name a better episode.
Hardmode: Don’t say “The Beach”
Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust was primarely voiced in English, I guess its not an anime then.
the bea- fuck you!
Gotta give it to “Tales of Ba Sing Se”
The Crossroads of Destiny
Or could it be that people simply enjoy different things?
SEETHING
Those people don’t really think very hard about what they’re watching. Even if you could divorce Korra from ATLA, it still drops every ball it tries to juggle.
If you have nothing to add besides 'b-but I enjoyed it' then why are you even here. People can list a million reasons why it totally failed as a show and as a sequel but you'll always fall back on muh opinion like anyone cares.
The show was an abortion plain and simple.
And I could write a million reasons why it totally succeeds as a show and in some cases is better than the original, but I'm not going to do that to people who say "this must be bait" to someone who has a different opinion. Especially when I know I'll just get responses like "you have shit taste" or whatever in return. Lots of people enjoyed Korra, so liking it shouldn't be controversial and something I need to defend.
It should if it’s Korra. Sorry pal, it’s really that bad.
>And I could write a million reasons why it totally succeeds as a show and in some cases is better than the original
But you haven't, and you won't. Nobody who defends Korra ever has because there's nothing to defend.
People have practically written essays about the trash characters who never develop, the removal of all mysticism and interesting parts of the world, the plots making no sense and being full of asspulls, bending being trivialized into punching air at people, the backstory of the first Avatar being a disappointing mess, humour and themes that is somehow more juvenile than a show made for 12 year olds, and so on.
All you have is 'yeah but my standards are lower than yours so its good'
The average Korra hater.
How many levels of false equivalence are we on?
>genuinely defending the S2 finale
Even korrafags admit S2 was beyond dogshit
While I partially agree with you I think that Aang was unable to control the avatar state even before season 3 desu.
It's not that I don't appreciate her character but I'm a very affectionate person and I couldn't be with her always shutting me down but secretly liking me anyway.
We got some good fucking taste in here. Also "The Storm"
The Headband
That schoolgirl was my childhood waifu
It's anime influenced. One of the writers said they took everything they liked about anime and put it in the show.
By making 2.2 bn.
*dabs aggressively*
The stage play episode. Top comedy.
Fine taste.
no. Liking western cartoons makes you either a child or an autist while liking anime makes you either an autist or an autist.
I agree with you on that, I generally though the Avatar state was a cop out (which is why they nerfed it in series 2).
As much as I am not really looking forward to the Netflix adaptation, they can sort out the ending between Aang and Ozai.
>they can sort out the ending between Aang and Ozai.
You realise Bryke are gonna try to retcon Raava shit into TLA right? The finale is gonna be even worse.
Never watched Avatar. Is it worth watching? It has 9,2/10 on IMDB.
>TFW a kids show has better writing than Game of Thrones, the biggest budget show ever made
Yeah I guess they will, as I said i'm not excited for this adaptation.
The only hope I got is that the writers who worked on the original Avatar who are working on this take the reins from Bryke, Korra showed us all what happens when they get total control.
It’s a classic, same quality of writing you would find in Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, or Rome. It’s a must see in my opinion.
She was so cute, knowing I'll never have a gf like her makes me wanna kill myself.
What does budget have to do with writing quality? Throwing more money at people doesn't magically make them talented
Yeah.
Episodes are only 20 minutes long, and its 3 series, so even if you don't like it, it won't take up too much time.
Just remember that it aired on Nicktoons, so don't expect blood and shit, just go in expecting a lighthearted adventure story for young adults and you'll be more than pleasantly suprised by the writing, acting, direction, etc.
7.8/10 on IMDB
It's genuine kino. Better writing than most real shows you'll find.
S1 might be a bit slow to start, feels a lot like a typical kids show at first. it's about half way through (like episode 12/13 is The Storm and Blue Spirit iirc) where the villains start getting more fleshed out and it sets itself apart.
>Throwing more money at people doesn't magically make them talented
exactly this. Game of Thrones had no soul after season 4. All the scenes from DnD from that point on we’re just cock and ball jokes, throwbacks to previous seasons (usually seasons 1-3), or the occasional “YAAAS QUEEN” moment sprinkled in every fifteen minutes.
ATLA, for being a god damn cartoon tailored for kids, has better writing, character development, and even more meaningful fight scenes than a show with a budget akin to Hollywood movies.
>Jaime realizes Cersei might die in the upcoming battle
>Knows she is carrying his child and that he still cares about her
>Goes back to save her or just to see her one last time, knowing it will most likely result in his death as well
>Tells Brienne mean things so that she won't come along, literally saving her life
>Somehow this means he's bad again and the entire arc was wasted
Season 8 as a whole is a trainwreck, but to say his entire arc was wasted it just plain retarded.
Do it user. I had blown it off for years because I just dismissed it as nostalgia the generation after me had for their childhood for some cheesy American pseudo-anime. The character's are very well written and have great development, and the world is thought out and interesting. I've gone back and marathoned it twice and I hardly ever rewatch a series.
The sequel series is hot garbage, though.
TLA isn't even the best show to air on Nick.
This is pure delusion. ATLA on par with the Sopranos?
t. Spongetard
Yes.
Still has a more satisfying conclusion than your sudden fade to black.
Yeah, you gotta be crazy to think that. Sopranos is okay, but ATLA is much better.
It still amazes me how well paced the episodes are and just how much they manage to include in those 20 minutes without it feeling rushed or bloated.
That was among one of the millions of faults Korra had. The episodes were kinda structured like a 40 minutes series that got squished into 20 minutes and it just felt too claustrophobic. It never felt like the episodes had an ending to it's self contained arc as much as they just stopped half the time.
Korra also had less episodes, which meant all the character/world building filler was gone.
Airbender just had so much right going for it; an amazing team of writers, amazing voice actors, top notch directors, great visuals, the whole lot. They also planned out clearly the whole thing before they began, and Nick gave them the thumbs up without being dicks.
koreans arent japanese.
im glad this image is circulating kekked and checked
arr rook same
The saddest thing is this one of those one in a million creations and we will never get anything like it again of a similar quality. This is all we will ever have.
The only thing that could possibly do to make a comparable product is to do a HD version that sticks 100% to the source material and changes nothing apart from adding a crisper widescreen visuals and some smoother animations.
yeah but japanese have souls man
sometimes you just have to appreciate lightning in a bottle man
>Japanese
>souls
Kek.
youtube.com
As said we gotta appreciate what we have man, if the netflix adaptation turns out shit, It'll make us realize just how good the original is even more.
what the fuck is this thing and what is wrong with its elbows, fingers and legs
>call anime a cartoon
>Yea Forums gets a conniption.
Am I in the wrong?
Pic related will happen in the live action version too, r-right...?
Has any show even come close to the selection and quality of waifus?
Probably not since Bryke have become full SJW.
>korrashit
Where is female Earth Kingdom Hitler at?
Right below Ty Lee, also Kuvira did nothing wrong
the actual show may be shit but that doesn't change the fact that korra is the hottest female ever drawn
Tom and Jerry wouldn't be different than Shinshan or Doraemon
Korra is CUTE!
tru
Based. I hoped that Kuvira would just kill Korra, would have been the far superior ending
Imagine thinking this gross generalization is true. A show that only has one exceptional season. Even Yea Forums fags say it’s overrated
SEETHING
>the fire nation has tanks, some nazi looking drill shit and other superior weapons
is this show even realistic?
they were going through an industrial revolution, that's why they had such a big advantage in the war,you dumb retard
No, 3 teenage element benders are able to successfully storm a castle guarded by Earth Bender guards. We see them having trouble fighting one-on-one with not just other benders but Ty Lee, some acrobatic chick that has to come up close and poke you to block your chi. Yet they can’t go against grown men who have been training all their lives. Both ATLA and GoT have plot armor
>over a century ago, and a cartoon is a funny drawing, typically political in nature
>a couple decades later, and motion pictures become a thing, in most forms it is a fun novelty, animation becomes a possibility, these animations tend to be particularly funny, and are so often dubbed "cartoons"
>animation becomes an industry, and since the animations are virtually always funny, and when more mainstream, not especially funny animation is produced, people often still refer to them as cartoons
>TV becomes a thing, and animated "cartoons" start to become considered strictly for children, adults are mature and look at real people playing pretend rather than animations that are pretend in their entirety
>it's a few decades ago now, and a burgeoning market for Japanese animated works is growing in the west
>this isn't much like our cartoons, so what do we call it?
>in Japan they call animation "anime", so let's market this as "anime", to set a distinction for people
>so now we have typically humourous western "cartoons", and Japanese "anime", the most notable and interesting of which aren't like our animation at all, but serious and action packed, and also not suitable for children
>there are plenty of Japanese "anime" that are funny, kid-friendly and sugary like Western "cartoons". Being Japanese, they are still branded "anime", but being like the western "cartoons", they don't sell nearly as well
>people grow up watching the cool Japanese "anime", it's much more enthralling than the western "cartoons"
>"we want to make stuff like that" they say so they do
>"this isn't like a cartoon" the people say, "so I guess it much be an anime!"
and those people, we call retards
Anime is anime because it's from Japan, end of story. The moment you start classifying anything as "western anime" or "Japanese cartoons", give up on the idea of making a distinction. Just call all of it animation.
1. Aang is a Airbender something nobody has fought for a 100 years
2. Toph is a super prodigy that was taught by Badger Moles
3. Katara is ... You got me on this one.
1. We see Aang going toe-to-toe with Zuko and other villain of the week retard. He’s having trouble going against Earthbenders when they met that one crazy Earth lord that wanted to force Aang into the Avatar state. He never goes Avatar state during the raid. He’s a fucking child who never completed his training before being frozen
2. Toph is fucking retarded
3. Earthbenders literally just throw fucking rocks from afar like a projectile. Avatar gaang gog saved because of how difficult it would be to animate LoK-tier fight scenes where its the entire Earth Army going down on these fucking kids
Katara is arguably also a prodigy since she's learned in both northern and southern water tribe styles (and outperformed all other northern tribe students in only a few days' training under Pakku), is at least familiar with foggy swamp tribe, knows how to heal and bloodbend
This guy goes to reddit
Water tribe girls are the best.
fuck niggers
Imagine the industrial revolution for some nation that could make gasoline or oil appear out of thin air, they just firebend into shit as a source of fuel or power giant metalwork forges. Kind of like how no one but Earth Benders could ever build or maintain the walls that surround Ba Sing Se, no one but firebenders could industrialize so rapidly
No this is Patrick.
Actual children, I'm shocked.
what about the light brown skin and blue eyes combination makes it so fucking good
>We see Aang going toe-to-toe with Zuko and other villain of the week retard. He’s having trouble going against Earthbenders when they met that one crazy Earth lord that wanted to force Aang into the Avatar state. He never goes Avatar state during the raid. He’s a fucking child who never completed his training before being frozen
You are a mental midget. Zuko is a fire bending prodigy and Bumi was the best Earthbender at the time. And Aang was an airbending master.
>Toph is fucking retarded
Not as much as you.
Anime is the word they use for any kind of cartoon, in Japanese. So yes.
>MUH CHILD PRODIGY
Imagine defending this shitty trope. Stupid child empowerment garbage
Fire Nation literally did nothing wrong.
>hating this qt
Most anime is made in korea or china, retard
I wasn’t talking about Bumi you stupid fuck. I was talking about the Earth Lord that tried to force Aang into the avatar state. Why don’t you read it again you mental midget
>Zuko is a fire bending prodigy
no, he's a hard worker. the series emphasizes this a lot. Azula is the prodigy
>Bumi was the best Earthbender at the time
General Fong?
post her armpits
>Even Yea Forums
You say that like they're any sort of authority.
A:TLA is the closest thing to a work of art animation has ever had.
Yeah General Fong, same season where they storm the castle of one of the most guarded city, housing the king of that place, manned by benders of an element known for being stubborn, neutral and unmoving. Btfo’d by 3 kids going head on without a strategy
>closest thing to a work of art
So it’s not fully a work of art. Because it’s a piece of shit television show with only one really good season and is kiddy shit for the most part?
What would happen if an Avatar is born mentally retarded? Would they let the retard be or kill him and hope for better?
Factual info
Damn that is some awful fucking fanart
No, it's not cringe.
they cant actively try to kill him because the avatar state might kick in and the tard will die during the avatar state.
Literally the perfect weapons
>avatar power + retard strength
>can be easily trained to do simple commands
>will never question you
She's one of them.
Japanese people think Donald Duck is anime
As great as the show is, they did kind of skirt on the possibility of showing the power of the avatar.
Just imagine:
>enter avatar state
>able to create hurricanes using both airbending and waterbending
>able to cause earthquakes
>able to cause tornadoes
>able to cause firestorms/fire tornadoes
>able to cause tsunamis
>able to cause monsoons/flash floods
>able to cause volcanoes using earthbending+firebending
>able to cause avalanches/rockslides
>and many more comparatively minor techniques that would btfo even prodigy's
show has a surprising amount of wasted potential for the amount of potential it realized
>able to cause earthquakes
He did make on in the beginning of book 2
>able to cause tornadoes
He made big ass ones any time he went airball though
>able to cause tsunamis
Made several in the end of book 1
>able to cause volcanoes using
Roku did when he took over Aang's body in early book 1
The avatar is powerful but not god like, do you know how large an actual hurricane is? Let alone Roku couldn't contain a volcano even after being a master for almost a century.
Avatar Kyoshi demonstrated equivalent or far more impressive feats when she made Kyoshi Island
>knowing this
yikes, fucking disgusting
what next? you masturbate over hentai comics?
fucking degenerate, kill yourself
