Can I get a quick rundown on this guy?

he ded

he saved a lot of elephants by not bringing them across the narrow sea

Headed an extremely successful mercenary troupe that fought every conceivable enemy on Essos, including Unsullied, but had never fought against a dragon.

here you go.

Did he even have 3 lines in total?

This guy got run down quickly.

Exactly why was his army sitting outside the city walls? What could they possibly do better on the ground than on the walls throwing rocks and spears?

Job

they heard the other army beat the night king by placing the troops outside the walls, so they also gave it a shot

Skirmishing. Stopping ladders and miners. Not that they had any siege equipment. Castles are like armour. Just because they work very well doesn’t mean you ever want them to actually see use. You should block parry or outskirmish the enemy before they get to that far. That shits expensive.

>know enemy has a dragon
>know scorpion bolts work
>have lots of scorpions on the city walls
>know enemy has horsemen
>know horses can't climb walls
>pay for 20,000 of the finest mercenaries to sail across the sea and sit OUTSIDE the walls in a perfectly rectangle formation so they can be all immolated in a single run

He looks like an ape

>Get me Matt Smith!
>He's unavailable, sir
>Then get me his non-union German equivalent!

Homeless Harry's the captain-general (leader) of the Golden Company. I think he used to be the paymaster. He's a deal older than that smooth-spoken German guy, has a partial combover and isn't notable for his aggression.

they didn't count on dragons getting buffed and scorpions getting nerfed in the middle of the fight

In season 1-4 you would have.
He would have an extensive background, deep discussions, motivations and character flaws developed over several episodes.

Then suddenly he would die for being at the wrong place at the wrong time, and it would be telling about the nature of war.

But with nu-game-of-thrones, the writers knew he was going to die soon so he had less screen time than an extra.

it was good tactics, and much more sensible than charging your cavalry straight into an enemy force as dany and northerners are wont to do. it's not his fault that a weapon with devastating power and accuracy in one episode magically became completely useless in the next episode. if the dragon wasn't a factor, they would've won.

He's addicted to the good times and sells propane.

your people cant' fight whiteboi

>it was good tactics
No. it was terrible tactics.

what movie?

Golden Company should have at least gotten a few kills in. Maybe have him duel Greyworm.

how could he know the dragon was going to headbutt the wall like metal ridley and be invincible the entire episode

Happiness.

Yeah but they were just standing there like goons. You are meant to lead quick raids in and out, not just stand there waiting

8 boats versus 2 dragons: total defeat
1 dragon versus 300 boats and 100 ballastas guarding the boats: ayy lmao

like why not just lay down and play dead lol

Whats with the overexpressions? Is he Danys long lost relative?

Jaimie-lite

Technically he's related to dany through a targaryen bastard a while back

ONLY A FOOL WOULD FIGHT THE DOTHRAKI IN AN OPEN FIELD

Attached: 4msnxju9ikhz.jpg (828x626, 35K)

the unsullied are running as fast as the fucking cavalry god this show is so shit

Yeah I'm sure the Dothraki wouldn't trample over your dumbass laying down in their path. Or anyone else

He was actually (f)Aegon but him and Varys both died before they could tell anyone about their plot

...

EAT LEAD, SLACKERS

He is german!
German commanders have a history of bad leaders backstabbing them with bad strategies!

Attached: Marc Rissmann.jpg (1024x576, 185K)

They needed a foppish looking white guy to be killed off in a humiliating manner by a black guy.

>Not having Dario come back leading the golden company
missed opportunity.
didn't he say he was going to go back and fight for them?
i forget, its been so long

Bobby B is right about fucking everything

Cersei chose the wrong mercenary company. Plain and simple. How would the dothraki/unsullied/dragons/northerners have fared against Diamond Dogs from MGSV? I'll tell you how, they wouldn't have stood a chance. Even a dragon can't withstand a nuke, or a sniper shot directly to the eye.

Attached: diamond dogs.jpg (1200x675, 97K)

they only had to pay the survivors, if any. they got a really good deal there.

Nah hes not. The Stricklands followed the Blackfyres into exile but since there were no female valyrians of any kind with the Golden Company hes not related to Dany.

that's why you should read the patch notes.

Honestly the first strike was unexpected and dany was shocked.
Than in E5 Drogon has better stats and a leadership buff.
But sure they could have made that better than just for shock value. Show that there where several arrows that missed Drogon and Rhaegal. Easy directing to avoid the magic arrow with perfect aim.

Why didn't they have a real fight? I swear D&D, the dirty jewish hacks, are so afraid they'll confuse the audience if they don't show the fight as completely one-sided. Can't have anything distract them from the super obvious twist they're pulling. Fucking hacks.

Does Harry Strickland sounds a few centuries too modern to anyone else ?

I thought it was the actor playing him.

Is that his name?
shouldn't it have some retarded spelling like Hari or something?

the contract said they had to stop the enemy from entering the city, they couldn't let them breach the wall

I honestly thought people called him that because it was the name of another role the actor played or something.

Just makes me think of Buck Strickland

>Ned
ok
>Robert
ok
>John
ok
>Jaime
ok
>Harry
woah hol up too far

>Strickland

It's the relatively common last name that goes alongside Harry that makes it standout. Compared to Stark, Baratheon & Lannister anyway.

head canon.

kek same

I like how unsullied run as fast as horses.

captain nobody to the rescue, how could cersei lose.

She also had dragonfire left over that danny ignites as she breathes fire on it. She didn't actually use it on the incoming army.

Who was actually commanding Cersei's troops on the ground and implementing the battle plan? Did Cersei even have another Master of War after Kevan left?

Is that jerma?

captain phasma of got

*record scratch*
*freeze frame*
Yep, that's me

Attached: harry strickland.png (1920x1080, 1.75M)

He didn't run quickly enough.

this

Tully, Tyrell, or Tarly aren't particularly antiquated either

...

Pretty accurate

Attached: .jpg (800x1200, 314K)

Edmure, Brynden, Hoster, Randyll, Samwell, Dickon, Mace, Loras, Willas, Margaery, or Olenna aren't modern though

Based

It does sound anachronistic, but both Harry and Strickland have their roots in the medieval period

He died. That's all you need to know.

>Sam
>Margery
>Randall
>not modern
nigga just because you spell it weird doesn't make Robb Stark sound any less like he should be a dock worker in Seattle

After all, engravings on armor offer no strategic advantage whatsoever.

no balls to get in the way

they probably could have salvaged this plot point if they'd made him Jon Connington instead of Harry Strickland. They didn't even need the Aegon/Young Griff plot, just introduce JonCon as the former Hand to the Mad King, who was exiled by Aerys for failing to stop Robert. Maybe add a scene of him talking to Cersei about how he wants revenge against the Targaryen family and wants to return permanently to Westeros, maybe Cersei promises him Highgarden.
