You hear people say when they're strung out at the end that they just wish they'd never started, that they just want to go back to how they were before, but I've never heard it from anyone who was actually happy before drugs. Heroin is just better than anything in life. You can win an Oscar, get handed a billion dollars at the podium while a supermodel is sucking your cock and you're digging into a fat piece of cheesecake, and it'll give you way less dopamine than a half gram shot. Not all the relationships, girls, jobs, buying cars, money, playing in a band, the happiest time I can remember is sitting on the floor of the walk-in closet of my totally empty apartment, because it had the best light, alone, with a big shot of heroin.
