Their shtick got old. If you want edgy humor you can find it by the bucket online nowadays, back when they were at their peak , real edgy humor was harder to find.

It's impossible to even listen to old clips anymore unless it has Colin or Patrice in it. All three hosts are just extremely unlikeable. At least old Ron & Fez are eternally funny.

My gf was watching some video yesterday of some makeup girl complaining at length about some other yt dingleberry who apparently marketed anti anxiety medication to his pubescent audience. I think the dude's name was Charles James. Please understand, I was trying to sleep and kept overhearing this shit. This woman makes millions sitting on her duff and speaking VERY patronizingly about anxiety depression etc when she just came across to me as some Internet addict who projected all of her own selfish shit onto some air headed fruitcake who also refused to get the fuck off the Internet and be more of himself. I believe the phrase "fame and money and power really change people" was thrown out and I thought "no, it doesn't always. Sometimes people are absurdly self absorbed AND reach a level of exposure and financial security that allows them to be their full, dogshit selves unmitigated and it was just an inevitability that someone who could only see themselves applying effort into sitting alone and moan into a camera would ultimately be a self-absorbed little bitch who leapt at the opportunity to take advantage of people."
And it's not as if I fault Opie or these YouTube brats for being entitled,naive and altogether underdeveloped and wishy washy, but it does piss me off when people who have only explored one avenue of their own potential misconstrue their success and popularity as an indication of some kind of depth when it really comes down to hitting that post at the right time in their lives. I like listening to Opie on older bits but he was always a bit of a selfish brat and it shows in how he ultimately left the public eye, both voluntarily and otherwise.
But what really pissed me off was this pretty girl scandalizing some other shithead because otherwise people would stop paying attention to her. Fucking. Cunt.
Patrice died, then Anthony got caught taking perv pics of the black lady. After that it was dead in the water. They all hated each other for years before that, but still managed to make it listenable.

Not OP, but it I recall, Opie went on vacation during contract negotiations and was playing hardball. Sam took over for Opie and the Jim and Sam show was born. Opie went to afternoons and was eventually fired for taking pics of Roland taking a shit. Writing all this is making me remember more now. What a cluster fuck way to end a career in radio. All three hosts are unlistenable now in their shows.

Opie has a free podcast and Ant has one that is like $10 a month. From what I've heard online they are both terrible. Jimmy became politically correct. It's just a shell of itself. Don't bother listening.

Reddit turned Opie hating from a sane observation into him being a human monster. Opie couldn’t handle the abuse and can’t get along with Jimmy. Anthony was one of the few people intelligent enough to see past his unfunnyness and mental illness and see Opie for what he was, a dope who trucks over people yet keeps things rolling. Opie is at the perfect level of idiocy that you have to constantly be on your game to cover up for him, which is exactly what Anthony needs or he’ll fall into a drunken stupor love on air.
Opie is a vulnerable narcissist. Like puts it, his condition went untreated because he used his fame and success as a justification for not needing to change or do any self reflection. This is my impression. Naturally it just got worse as the years went on

Proof of how low quality radio is these two hacks steal their whole show from the king of all jew hacks and all go on to make millions and in king of the wigs case hundreds of millions. It went right when Louis C.K., Patrice O'Neal, Colin Quinn, Obama, Ron and Fez, Joe DeRosa, Fat Bobby Kelly and Scott Sabean had filled the late to post-Artie years of Stern.
It was a magical time, with Anthony beginning a slow waltz into white nationalism, Opie quickly becoming overly sensitive and delusional,and Norton middling SO HARD he almost became a comedian's comedian.

Yeah I agree I’m just a pissed off former fan of both shows. O&A had the better crop of stand ups which helped them tremendously even Schumer wasn’t complete garbage when she was on the show before she went mainstream and pretended none of that ever happened and Stern went to complete shit after Artie, the mass ban on stand ups, and the arrival of Turk. That show is fucking bad these days I have no idea how it’s still on the air and how they get paid as much as they do. Even Opies really really shitty podcast is better than whatever the fuck stern does these days. Was never a big Norton fan but I’ve heard his show is also garbage Ants show was at least entertaining for the short amount of time Artie was there.
To this day that last show with Patrice is one of the most satisfying pieces of media i've ever consumed. It literaly felt like the finale of a great story it encompasses everything the show was about and even had some tender moments. It somehow justified all the useless information one needs to have to be knowledable on the "lore" of the show.
Whenever i reach the part in the episode where Patrice explains how the dynamics of their group worked 7 years since tough crowd ended and how they all see Colin as their leader still gets me a bit choked up. Them cutting in the middle of a bit of trashing to say that they loved each other was almots unreal. The epilogue of all the comedians going to the studio after Patrice died is just as outstanding but that one i can't even relisten.
The show had some incredible pieces and the fact that it all worked together was all the more incredible, it was never meant to last and it can never be replicated.
He tried and failed, but then after the O&A + J&S drama died those savages started cannibalizing themselves and doxed the subreddit owner who then made it private.

You idiot, old episodrs are still one of the most popular things to listen to on the internet. They were better than anything we had then and are still good NOW. Explain how they are still relevant? Because people are still listening and laughing.

Opie was a failed normie at heart. He was petty and horrible and more cruel than Anthony even, but deep down he was always a cringey failed TV-presenter who got bitter and just fell into the shock-radio niche as a means to living.
He got money, got a hot wife and started a family which turned him into full blown normie, while Anthony degraded even further down the rabbit hole. Jimmy was always a freak. The comics they brought on were more from the world of Ant & Jim and Opie soon found himself to have become the loneliest man in the room which in turn fueled his resentment and jealousy of Ant's friendships and talent.
Opie sabotaged the show. Ant would have just put on a brave face and they would be doing the show to this day were it up to him.
