Thats true there used to be an inherent danger to trying to get weed which coupled with the goofiness of its effects made for a great premise. The classic stoner comedies always made the police the villains (Cheech and Chong) while the modern ones could take that scenario and invert it (Super Troopers where the police are the stoners, Pineapple Express where the police are the villains but not because they’re “just doing their job” but because they’re mixed up with the cartels)
